'Oh shut up,' Nalini snapped, not saying anything worse in front of her daughter. 'Have I ripped your throat out yet? No. On the contrary, I rarely feed. I suggest you educate yourself before fleeing in terror. Bloody hell, I thought this sort of rampant ignorance had died out centuries ago.'  'What's going on?' Asphyxia sleepily asked, sitting up, and letting the bed covers fall off her.

'.......................' 'Shut up, Zaer!' Asphyxia hurried over and smacked the girl around the head to quieten her; Nalini's expression was thunderous.

Zaer... I hate to say it, but there are far worse things here than my wife, and few of any will attack you even when aggravated.

"S-sorry..." Zaer apologised to the vampires, still not believing that Nalini wouldn't harm her. Ven dragged himself out of bed and took the sword out of Zaer's hand. "What else should we be careful of around here?" he asked, deciding not to mention that he'd had a similar conversation with Evangeline a little while ago, or the ever so charming nickname she had given Mk.
