Ky nodded. "Yep, nothing to worry about. Oh, that reminds me," Ky said as he removed Little Guy's Pokeball from his belt. Carefully aiming the ball towards his shoulder, the Pokeball broke open and Little Guy soon appeared in a bright light, perched on Ky's shoulder. "Just in case," Ky said with a smile.
They both continued along the trail, keeping a good pace as they wound around the maze of compacted trees. Every once and a while they had to climb over fallen trees and brush through tall grass, but nothing seemed to bother them. In the meanwhile, Ky was thinking about how he should probably collect a third Pokemon, but as he searched the Ilex Forest's canopy, he found nothing of interest. In the late morning, the tree limbs were crawling with bugs, mainly Weedles and Caterpies.
Ky remembered how useful Bugsy's Butterfree had been and wondered whether it was worth training one. After some thought though, he decided against it. Having two Bugs on his team would not strengthen his team by much, especially against Fire and Rock-types. His team at the moment wasn't terribly strong (for having two), so Ky knew he needed to choose wisely and add more variety to his team with the next catch.
"So M.A., you said you're from Fall..er..ber Town. Where's that?" Ky asked, trying to keep conversation going. Besides following the trail, nothing was interesting about the forest to him, so he wanted the time to fly by.

As Anthony burst out of hiding, his grin widened as he sped towards the other side of the bike trail, half of the fishing lines held tight in his hands. He couldn't have timed it any better. The two bikers were close enough to see them run across, but hopefully far enough not to see the lines in their hands. Once they both reached the other side, Anthony hid behind a bush and waited for the right moment... "PULL!" he yelled with a harsh whisper. With all of his strength, Anthony leaned back, causing his lines to straighten at bike-wheel's height, innocently reflecting the sun as they waited to catch the bikers.

Dylan matched pace with Anthony and was on the other side of the road. Their line had been secured around a tree and they were going to pull hard on this side. It was the perfect strategy.
Dylan strained against the lines with Anthony so that their combined strength should pull the two off their rides. Too bad it wasn't on tape for the upcoming scene should be hilarious.

"Oh, just a little place in the middle of nowhere," she said, sighing fondly as she remembered her home and the warm community there. Just closing her eyes, she could bring forth a vivid image of her parents smiling, her brother standing tall and proud beside them. . . A bit of guilt washed over the girl as she realized she hadn't exactly called them lately. She hadn't been homesick much, actually -- her travels so far had been so exhilarating and new and different that she'd hardly thought about quaint ol' Fallarbor. Yeah, she'd have to call them soon. Maybe Michael would be at the festival, and bring their parents too?
Mary-Anne was about to speak a little more of her hometown with those glazed eyes of hers when her little daydream was quite interrupted by nearly tripping over an air bubble. Wait, no, air bubbles didn't trip people. . . No, no, it was a little kid, so short that he hardly stood to her chest. Well, technically, it might've been a combination of his shortness and Mary-Anne's distinct tallness. "Watch where you're going, you walkin' street light!" the kid yelled, catching his balance with a mirror image of himself. Oh, wait, that really was another young'un -- the one that had caught him was his twin.
"Oh. . . Sorry?" Mary-Anne said dazedly, looking from one of the little kids to the other. The insult just kind of drifted in and out, as she really wasn't quite all there -- it had been sorta sudden. "Uh, I didn't see you two -"
"Are you calling us short, beanpole girl?" The other one said, sneering.
M.A. was confounded into silence.
"We challenge you to a double's match, you and that pipsqueak over there!" Technically, Ky was taller than they were, but they said it with such confidence and snobbery that they could've bragged of anything.

Ky snorted. "Pipsqueak?" he said laughing as he walked towards their opponents. "If I'm a pipsqueak, what does that make you two?" he asked them condescendingly. Though he didn't take the insult very seriously, he couldn't really hide his anger towards these brats. Ky's mocking smile disappeared and he pulled out Sting's Pokeball. "All right, M.A. Look alive. It's kid-punting time!" And with that, Ky let his Pokeball fly, watching as Sting burst out. Adjusting to his new environment, Sting scanned the battle floor, looking for his opponents.

"R-right!" she stuttered, having collected her senses again. Jeez, Daemyn thought, letting out a puff of air that might've been a sigh. This girl could be so meek. Yet he knew better than to suppose that his dear trainer was always this way, for he'd seen her in a different light before. Once she'd set her mind to something, once she pulled out that inner grit, one would be hard-pressed to find one more determined or recklessly brave. Someday, she'd be more sure of herself, he was certain; in the meantime, he'd be by her side, protecting her while she gained that confidence.
Before the girl could as much as utter another syllable, Daemyn pushed off from her arms and landed easily before her, giving the girl a reassuring glance before turning on the boys with a scornful ferocity. Really now, these two kids messed with the wrong girl. . . He wouldn't allow someone to insult Mary-Anne, especially when she couldn't defend herself consistently against criticism yet. He gave a pre-battle Howl, feeling his energy surge alongside the anger. . . Ohoh, he fought best when he was angry.
The kids looked at the two Pokemon distastefully. "A mutt and a wasp! This'll be a piece of cake."
"Psh, of course. Go Noctowl!"

"All right. Go Zubat!" said the other. With a flash of light came the bat Pokemon, fluttering and giving off an annoying screech.
Ky couldn't have regretted his choice any quicker, but what was done was done. "All right Beedrill, Focus Energy! Watch out for that Noctowl!" Ky ordered. Having learned already that it wasn't best to simply charge into the fray, Sting obeyed, focusing his hardening ability into his forearms. He also watched the Noctowl carefully, who was definitely one of Sting's former birds-of-prey when he was a Weedle.
The Zubat's trainer gave a smirk. "Zubat! Wing Attack! Crush that wasp!" Ky could feel his heart clench. He hadn't expected the Zubat to know that move.
"Sting, look out!" Ky yelled as the boy's Zubat flew up quickly before straightening into a dive, looking to clothesline Sting through the neck. ((btw, I'm using P/D stats, so don't worry; it's not level 27+))

Her mind was focused on finding their destination rather than anything else, so the boys she spotted out of the corner of her eye seemed of little interest just then. However, at the very last moment, her instincts told her something was wrong, and as Kasiya tried to access the situation, she came to the realization that she was much too late to do anything about it. The glimmer of the sunlight reflecting off the taut fishing wire was definitely the last thing she noticed as her bike's leisurely pace was slowed to a drastic halt.
Time seemed to crawl as she felt the bike lurch underneath her, and yet again she found herself traveling over the handlebars of her bike and finding the concrete rushing towards her. She heard a strange popping sound before she hit the ground, and even though she knew the impact hadn't been as bad as it could have been (thank goodness they weren't riding any faster) she still wasn't prepared for the burning pain that shot through her exposed skin as it met with the solid ground. Her side once again began to throb mercilessly, and she pulled herself to her hands and knees, tears already forming in the corners of her eyes as she clutched the half-healed wound in her side fearfully, silently praying the stitches had held. What the hell had just happened? Wincing she turned to see the two boys laughing their heads off, and she also could now make up the nearly invisible stretch of wire cutting across the bike path, and it didn't take her long to piece together the cruel prank the boys had just pulled. Despite her best efforts to hold them back (she was still a bit of a crybaby, after all), the tears came anyway, splashing onto the pavement as she tried to ignore the burning pain stinging her elbows and knees.
"K-Keegan... Are you all r-right?" she managed to stutter out, gingerly turning her head to see if her redheaded friend had fared any better than she had. Her tears flowed freely now, but she didn't care as the shock had started to wear off, and a silent, shaky rage had started to settle instead. Next she turned to have a look at her bike, and the anger she felt only continued to grow as she realized what the popping noise had been. Since she'd been slightly ahead of Keegan on the road, her bike had made contact with the wire first, and it had cut into the rubber of the tire, and most likely right through to the inner tubing as well. The angry laceration stood out like a sore thumb on the front wheel of her bike, which other than the tire had suffered no other casualties. She shot a cold, angry glare in the direction of each boy in turn, the gesture very reminiscent of the icy glare of an Arbok. They would pay for this.

Even though Keegan was normally suspicious by nature, he too seemed to be a bit off his game for the time being, and it wasn't until he heard the word "PULL" whispered harshly in front of him. "Kasi, look out!" he shouted, much too late. He squeezed the brakes as hard as he could, sliding his bike so that it managed to wedge itself under the wire (and possibly make one of the pranksters have to leap out of the way to avoid being struck by the wayward bicycle). He'd pushed himself from the seat of the bike, and found himself sliding on the ground as well, but at least he wasn't underneath his bike at this point. His right hand was dragged along behind him, but the appendage had managed to slow his fall enough to avoid sustaining further injury to himself. Other than a small tear in the leg of his jeans and a throbbing, bleeding hand, he was unhurt, but very soon the same wouldn't be able to be said for the two boys who had caused them to fall. Keegan got to his feet and brushed himself off, keeping his demeanor calm as he looked towards Kasiya, who was now in a sitting position, but didn't look to be hurt badly. "I'm fine, what about you?" he asked, trying to keep his attention focused on Kasiya, even though the tone of underlying anger was already plain in his voice.
He could see the wire, and the heavy damage to the front tire of Kasiya's bike it had done to it, and he stepped onto it heavily, his weight pulling down on the sharp, tight line as he too studied both of the boys in turn. There was all sorts of things he wanted to say to them, but he held back his comments for now, but a dangerous glint lingered within his green eyes as he stared them both down much like a Tyranitar ready to thrash a beating into its prey. He swung his other leg over the wire and knelt next to Kasiya, putting his hand gently on her shoulder and examining the ugly scrapes on her knees and elbows. They were bleeding lightly, and would need to be cleaned and bandaged. "It's all right," he whispered in her ear, brushing a few stray tears from her cheeks. "They won't get away with this." He kissed her forehead and held out his hands to pull her to her feet. "Are you happy now?" he asked the two boys coldly, slipping his uninjured hand into his jeans pocket and tilting his head slightly. It was taking every ounce of willpower he had in him to not jump up and beat the two offenders to a bloody pulp.

Seeing the girl fly off her bicycle was more than enough to send Anthony into a fit of laughter, though he was a bit shocked when the boy's bike came flying towards Dylan. As he continued to laugh, he felt the usual mix of feelings: joy, fear, guilt, with the latter being less noticeable. His laughter came to an abrupt halt though when the boy stomped on the wires. Having still been holding them tightly, the sudden force yanked Anthony forward until he tripped to land face-first into the pavement. A bit irritated, he pushed himself up, though a smile was still apparent on his face as he forced to keep back a giggle. "Well, it would've been cooler if both of you went flying, but I can't really complain," he answered. Seeing the look in both Kasiya and Keegan's eyes made him feel quite uncomfortable, but he continued to smile. It wasn't like he was expecting them to be cheerful.

Dylan was also in a fit of laughter. He looked up in time to see Keegan's bike flying at him so he quickly dived to the side. The back tire knicked his leg and he sat on the ground still laughing a good deal. "Oh geez... that was priceless." He muttered through his laughs. Sure he was a little sad that the cute girl had been hurt, but it went along with the job. He quieted down when the death glares intesified. Maybe they should just run now...

"I'm okay," Kasiya said quietly, allowing Keegan to help her stand. Even though she'd just been purposefully sent flying from her bike, she couldn't help but feel a slight bit of concern as she watched the first boy pull himself up after making a face plant in the pavement thanks to Keegan's pulling of the fishing wire. However, his comment about how funny it had been watching her fly from the bike erased any sympathy she might have been feeling for him. While Keegan may have been suppressing his urge to beat the crap out of them, she was fighting the urge to send out Shocker and let her throw a Thunderbolt at his face. That would wipe the smug look from it, but her better nature prevented her from doing anything rash. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, and looked at the other boy. He was sitting in the grass off to the side, but had stopped laughing as Keegan had turned to glare at him. Instead of looking smug, he actually looked a little guilty, and that made her feel a little better about the situation. In fact, any of the rage she'd been feeling prior had pretty much vanished completely. "You guys mangled my front tire..." she sighed, once again looking down at the aftermath. "That's going to be expensive to get repaired..." She bent down and yanked the length of wire from the deep cut in the tire, and tossed it to the side before she went about folding it up into its compact state. So much for touring Cinnabar Island via bicycle.
After stowing her now useless bike, she brushed the dirt from her hands, making a mental note to never think about bike accidents again, especially when she was riding. This had to be a record of some sort; she was certain of that. She studied the two of them again for a moment, wondering if her lack of angry outbursts towards them was somewhat unnerving at all. "So guys," she said suddenly, her tone calm and collected, "do you always go about getting peoples' attention like this?" She wore a bit of a lopsided smile, and she tugged her green bandanna from her hair and tucked it into her pocket, letting the cool, ocean breeze ruffle her blonde hair.
((Do you think you guys could describe what these guys look like? It would make responding a lot easier, especially when we don't know their names ^^; ))

Keegan couldn't help but smirk as Anthony pulled himself up from the pavement, but the look faded before anyone could really see it. "A new tire and inner tube won't cost too much," Keegan reassured Kasiya as she went about putting her bike away. "Perhaps if you ask nicely, these guys will pay for the repairs." He looked from one boy to another, not caring if either one of them were shaken by the death glares he was throwing their way. He too decided to put his bike away, and he did just that, plucking a few long blades of grass that had found their way into the spokes and gears. He couldn't help but be thankful that they hadn't been riding Mach Bikes; otherwise the injuries they would have suffered would have been much, much worse.
It wasn't surprising to see Kasiya's anger melt away so quickly, but the same couldn't be said for him. He was nearly shaking with rage, more because of the fact that Kasiya had been hurt by the boys' prank than anything else. "Yes," he said in response to Kasiya's cool comment about getting their attention. "What's with the fishing line anyway? Don't you guys realize how badly you could hurt someone doing things like this?" He felt much like a schoolteacher just then, scolding a few students for stepping out of line. He wanted to continue chiding them for their foolish behavior but decided against it, as it was probably the reaction they wanted more than anything else. He silently wondered how they would have reacted if one of them had broken a limb or something worse, and he also pondered the idea of how many other unsuspecting people they'd pulled this same prank on in the past.

Anthony stood there to listen to his victims, though he tried to ignore the feeling of guilt welling inside him. He wasn't stupid enough to make any more sly comments though; he could tell that the red-head guy was suppressing a lot of anger and he didn't feel like getting beat up today. Anthony was a couple of inches shorter than him after all, and it looked like the red-head was quite a bit older too.
Unfortunately, despite how stubborn he was, the reality of what happened started to sink in. His smile changed into a frustrated frown, and he gave a side-long look at his trap. It did turn out to be more dangerous than he expected. He then ruffled his short brown hair for a while, looking to be giving his conscience some thought, and soon crossed his arms with a look of childish displeasure. "Yeah, I'll pay to fix your tires," he said gruffly. "And... and if you want I can sneak into my house to get you something for your cuts. Ya know... so they don't get infected." He then gave a huff of anger, avoiding eye contact as he waited for their response. He hated feeling guilty, especially in front of Dylan; it was embarrassing and made him feel like some pathetic goody-two-shoes.

Dylan ruffled his short, messy dark brown hair. "I suppose we went a little over the top. But it was all for good fun after all. We'll fix your bike up later." Dylan added so Anthony wouldn't feel too bad. A tire wouldn't be that expensive. The mid-teenager pulled around his black messenger bag from behind him and rummaged through it for a moment before finding his mini-first aid kit. He tossed it over to the girl who still looked a bit shaken up. Dylan thought their plan might be a little dangerous so he packed some helpful items. "No need to leave so hastily."
Anthony usually issued the challenges so Dylan was just stalling till his comrade issued their battle invitation. His face crept into a smirk at the thought of his pokemon creaming these two trainers.
