Yeah.

I couldn't really do much because the profile's like.. 30% done. So at some point, I can only really go off what I can predict based off names and one-liner descriptions.

So in that form, it was like ... everything Tres can do x11.

Just looked at this.

The main problem (and I say main because it overarchs all of the other problems) is that it has a serious case of bloat.

One of those profiles that has a power for practically everything, and then two or three other powers that do the same thing as the powers that are already on there. And then a single power (or two) that does almost everything all the other ones can do put together. And a power that says "powers do not work on me", which is usually accompanied by ones that say "weapons do not work on me" and "I will always see you sneaking up on me".

Basically it needs to lose 3/4 of what is on there, and the rest either needs to be retooled or toned back into something that doesn't overlap every power with several other powers, all of which with no mentioned resource management system and very open (meaning sparse) description as to what they actually do.

Short answer: Make a bulleted list of all the powers that are important to your concept of the character. Fill these out until they do exactly what you want them to (and only what you want them to). You may now add other powers if you feel like you still need them, and if they don't do the same thing as one of the powers you already have (but in a different color).

Yeah, this sums it up pretty well.

But then again, it's a common problem. People add abilities, spells, techniques with no real mind for how they fit into the overall structure of a character.

It's why less is really more; you can flesh out a few moves into something design defining instead of being that guy with a thousand throw-away moves.

I do give her credit though. I've always wanted to make people's imaginary suicide wives commit vehicular spousal homicide on them.

It usually happens with the profiles that have never been edited properly.

"I made this 7 years ago, and since then I added an ability every couple of months and attached this entire powerset on here, and I had this one to remove the detriment of having a [missing limb] because disabilities are for fags, and then when I magically [grew my limb back] the ability stayed there."

That s**t.

Oh man, I remember my old Trinity profile. She could wreck anyone in Commerce. I remember even fighting Nihilistic's broken character and surviving against it.

I was going to send a PM saying "are you sure you want to make that attack, since you seem to have forgotten the visible armor" but then I realized that by the time you saw it you could just... write a post instead.

So I wrote you a post instead, rather than delay the whole thing by a few hours to a day.

Yeah, pretty much. It's like you as a human being and as a content creator have the right to do whatever you want. Always.

But if a problem like this emerges again next round or the round after that, I'm gonna bring up this same topic every single time.

Why? Because you had the opportunity to address it now, and chose to shut your ears because the whole matter annoyed you.

In the end, it's just gonna make your (and this is a general "you") job harder and wind up exploding. Kinda like if a little kid runs on his elbows, and I'm like "..you do know there's way better ways of covering this distance, right?" And the kid gets super angry and grunts "Shut up! It's my body, stop whining! I'll do what I want, I'm doing this to grab you lemonade!"

I kinda shrug. Then he falls over on his face and starts crying.

I'm not gonna go "...he's getting me lemonade.. what a noble child.. his plight.."

I'm gonna go "Hey dumbass, thought about walking on your feet yet?" And if he threatens to not get me lemonade.. ******** 'im. I'll buy me some Dr. Pepper. Or make home-made drink, as I oft have.

Later, as I drift by, I watch this kid fall on his face. "Hey kid. Feet. Use them." He gets teary eyed and yells "STOP REPEATING YOURSELF, I'VE MADE MY (sniff snort) DECISION, I WILL NOT HEED YOUR WORDS YOU DERISIVE TROLL"

I'm probably gonna snicker and go "f**." And then walk my merry way until the next time I see him fall, in which case - you bet ya - I'm gonna point out he's not using his feet. I will stop pointing it out when either he uses his feet, or proves to me walking on his elbows like a psuedo-retarded Spider Man is more effective, which so far he has failed to do spectacularly.

This deserves an honorable mention, as I have not laughed so hard in a very long time. Maybe it was partially due to me being exhausted, but I'd like to think I'm still mostly lucid.

Oh well It's not you but I can tell when I'm not wanted. All I did was ask a question that I would like answered still but instead it was taken as my saying no. So I hope you have fun. I was going to go ahead and fight you anyway. So much for that.

Well this is ******** up. If you still want the match it didn't start until today...It's yours.

I'm not gonna cheat someone out of their legitimate placement.

Yeah, the folk who're like "I've had this character for 10 years, it'd be an insult to my very being to change or remove even a single thing about this character. I'll have like 135 mechanics and spells and powers, and I'll add more as I see fit, and it'll work out great you'll see! RAGNAROKKKKK"

I mean it's their choice to enjoy the character the way they enjoy their character, but I feel they're missing out on a lot.

I'm attacking the inside of the wrist joint, not the outside. I was under the impression it was a bracer he was wearing, not an armored sleeve (which... still doesn't protect the joint).

I mean it's their choice to enjoy the character the way they enjoy their character, but I feel they're missing out on a lot.

I can understand the sentimentality of "I earned this through the course of RP" and "this was a gift from xyz in character" and so on... but at some point your character just becomes cluttered.

And when you're the guy who has seven different magic swords hanging off of you or hiding in a dimensional rift that you also got from a genie who happened to curse you with badassitude (but you don't use that power because you have 3 others that do the same thing) and have full mastery over 3-5 different elements and quasi-elements to the point where an overspecialized single-element caster character couldn't (by definitive statement in your own ability description) compare in a wizard's duel...

There is something wrong with your profile now.

You can totally RP that guy. That's fine. It's totally legit and whatever. Don't expect a lot of people to willingly fight that thing though. Your options are to cut back or retire.

Which brings me the roundabout way back to that argument I made like 2 months ago about how at some point people need to start swapping out known powers when they gain a new one, like a Pokémon that has reached its known move limit. Otherwise you end up with a list of 108 powers, and if you threw a dart at the list two or three times you'd come out with a complete character powerset. You could also do that 36 more times.

Is this a longsword? s**t, I'm failing Reading Comprehension 101 here, embarrassing.

Nope, not a bracer or an armored sleeve.

Also in the 10 seconds or so between when your post started and ended his hand position is completely different and it would be... incredibly awkward to see that attack happening now.

And going to bed.
