Tim ate his meal silently, enjoying the fact that the silence wasn't awkward at He did leave the dinner table to feed Apple, the cat not pleased with his neglect towards her food bowl. He apologized and even gave her fresh water as an apology before going back to eat. The red-head had two servings before calling it quits, helping Daren clean up. "It was a lot." he laughed. "Maybe we'll learn to cut the recipe in half for our own little Christmas dinner. How's that sound? Should I buy a small ham?"

Daren thought about that, "maybe we could try." he shrugged and started to rinse off the pot before putting it in the dishwasher, "ham or turkey. i missed Thanksgiving so i'd be happy with either." he loaded the rest of the dishes as they talked, "i do request potatoes and gravy, no matter what we make. i could eat an entire plate of just that if i was allowed, i love potatoes and gravy." it was true, anna and tarte had started giving him two plates, one for mashed potatoes and gravy, one for everything else.

"Ah, I'll get a small one of each, perhaps?" and thought about this before chuckling. "Potatoes and gravy it is, then. I certainly would not have Christmas dinner without that. I'll make a whole pot of them. Even Apple can have some." Tim wiped down the counters, making sure to get every nook and cranny, cleaning everything Daren touched while cooking.

Daren grinned, "Deal. we'll have to look up if potatoes are ok for cats to eat." it didn't miss his notice that Tim cleaned everything so thoroughly, but he decided to not comment. he wasn't sure what to do now, but maybe they could go down and work out again? or maybe they would play a game? he didn't care, really, he'd leave it to Tim

"They should be if they're cooked." He said, wiping down the sink and faucet next, pulling out clean wipes to do so. "I know a lot of things aren't good for them to eat in large quantities like fish or veggies or even dairy." The walls around the sink in case water splashed out, "I learned you can grind up pills and powder them over a small bit of yogurt for the cats to take their medicine, but Apple is so tiny i wouldn't know if that would work. Eggs are good if they're cooked." Mop and broom, where was the mop and broom? Everything had to be clean. Nothing could be dirty. He still had the clean the living room and dining room. And Daren's room. No, that wasn't his room anymore he couldn't clean it. Daren lived in it now.

Daren nodded, "when i first got her i had to feed her medication that way. she likes yogurt and canned cat food." he watched as Tim moved to the living room and dining room, but when he started towards Daren's room it was time to act. he stepped forward and gently took the cleaning tools from Tim's hands, "enough. it's not dirty, Tim. you don't have to clean everything." he was going to have to ask Akane about how to best act and help Tim get through this. "come on, let's go for a walk. ok?"

"I, I wasn't." he mumbled, "But, I still have the bathroom. I need to clean Daren, it's gotten dirty through one day of use and I wasn't constantly cleaning." He hadn't even broken out the mop bucket and bottle of diluted bleach yet. "Oh... okay. A walk should be fun. I'll get my jacket and shoes on." and walked around the man into the bedroom. "Here are yours." and offered them out while looking for his own, finding them politely pushed under the bed.

Daren was glad Tim let it drop for now, he was going to try to distract him enough to keep him from doing the rest of the cleaning. there used to be an easy way to do that, just drag Tim to bed and distract him there, but, well, Daren wasn't too keen on that right now. he'd had enough of that sort of thing in prison to last him a while. plus, he didn't want Tim to see the amount of the damage he'd taken, and if they had sex then they'd be touching and feeling every part of each other, more so than in the shower, and there was some things Daren didn't want Tim to know. "thanks," he put on his coat and shoes and waited for Tim to find his before slipping his hand into the man's and walking with him to the elevator. were it any other time, he'd suggest going and seeing Anna and her family, but he couldn't. not now, he didn't want to ruin their business by having a murderer frequent the place. "want to walk around the pond?"

Tim put his shoes and coat on with ease, though he fumbled with the buttons, cleaning them off with his fingers before buttoning them, then cleaning them again before walking out. The hand in his was warm, but the fingers were a little skinnier, the grip, while still comforting, seemed to be lacking the confidence that Daren normally exuded. Tim made up for this by holding his hand a little tighter, not a vice-grip, but just a little more support. "The pond sounds good. I was actually thinking of that." he said with a smile and a nod. "I like the pond. I actually have been outside in a while." he said, thinking on his return home to now. "I only went out to buy groceries." That didn't make him feel good, that meant he was becoming a shut-in.

Daren glanced over, "just for shopping and work? you're as bad as me." he was teasing, of course, but a little worried at the same time. "we are quite the pair, aren't we? if left to our own devices, we'd lock ourselves in the flat and never come out. i bet i could find an online job-or just live of my investments. we could order our groceries and have them delivered. do all sorts of thing from the safety of the house." they walked outside and Daren took a deep breath, "but, after being locked inside of a box for a month, that prospect doesn't seem as appealing. nothing beats fresh air." he gave tim's hand a little squeeze before heading to the park, "how about we make a promise to take a walk together at least every other day. deal?"

"Yep, match made in heaven I guess. Or Purgatory. I wonder what sort of online job I could get, though. I'm sure there are financial advisors and stuff, people do what I do from home, right?" the cold air stung as he breathed in, slowly exhaling and looking around, eyes adjusting to the natural sunlight. Was it always this bright? "That's true... it's been getting cold so we weren't allowed outside. They brought puppies once, it was fun." and walked beside the man. "Deal. Every other day. Always around the duck pond or to other places too?" and looked up at the man. He did look sort of skinny. "You look like you're in high school." he chuckled, though he couldn't have looked any better.

Daren nodded, "there and maybe to stores and stuff. go and buy some ice cream when it gets hotter, that kind of thing." he looked down at himself when Tim said he was skinny, "yeah, prison food sucks." that and he was usually throwing up most of what he ate from blows to the stomach. "high school, huh? yeah, i guess. i was pretty scrappy in high school, all lean, tense muscles with no bulk. i broadened out when i joined the academy, but now i'm back to what i really am, i guess." he hated the way he looked. hated this scrappy, wiry thing that was his body. it was the truth, the muscles and strength? that was all a lie. a mask to cover up the real him. a pathetic little nobody that was always fighting to survive.

"Well you were thicker than I was in high school, then. Red hair, freckles, acne, glasses and braces... I was the epitome of a nerd." he laughed, resting his head against the man's arm. "Had we gone to the same high school I probably would've been intimidated by you, and in awe. Lord knows I was that kid once or twice..." and sighed. "Ice cream sounds good, though."

Daren smiled, "i was sort of in my own world during high school. basketball really helped, but that was pretty much my only social interaction with others. i was in foster care at that time and my home life was kind of hard. i'd been labeled as 'difficult' and was sent to some of the harsher homes to try and control me. some just yelled and grounded me while others, well-" the triangle burn on his shoulder itched, and though he knew it was completely in his head, he rubbed at it, "had a more hands on approach. people thought i was a rebel, too." he laughed at that, "so i can see you being intimidated. i remember how shocked everyone was when they found out i was going to the police academy, they thought i'd be on the other side of the law, i guess."

Tim looked up as Daren spoke about himself, rubbing the back of his hand with his thumb to comfort him. "Well, I'm glad you proved them wrong. You're too nice to go down the other path, there was no point in giving them the satisfaction. You're so much better and shame on them for assuming otherwise."
