Chieftain Twilight how do you do, Mitzuki? ^_^ I'm glad to have you here. Shandrel gave me a COMPLETELY Positive Recommendation of you, so I told her to go right ahead and invite you. she wants the entire TG Crew invited here. whee I trust her Judgement. Having the whole crew here would be awesome! And I didn't know shandrel thought of me highly enough to give an apparently great recommendation..again..thank you! ((one more thing...I won't be on probably until Monday afternoon, family vacation for new year's ^^ ))

gonk i need help!
i just found out that imatation Brandy extract from McCormick's been discontinued and thats what i use as an ingrediant for homemade eggnog.
is there anywhere online that sells Brandy extract? sweatdrop i really dont want to use the real Brandy because of the kids. even tho i heard my brother say it wouldnt hurt them rolleyes i dont want to do that to them.

Speaking of making things, I made brownies from scratch today. biggrin After shopping so that I could spoil my hair at that lol.
Trust me, the best Christmas present you can give is money--not gift cards, bc someone might ge tthe things they like form a store other than the one from which you got it lol lol. (Not to mention it helped my mom, who needs to pay off some hospital bills. Obviously, that's of more priority than some...blender or w/e. Idk. lol.
On a happier note, I got w/e I wanted to get at the time LOL xD

About the brandy extract--just trust ur brother hahaha. XD I dont think they sell food items online, at least that's what I've seen on several sites. I really think they might be fine... HOw much do you use and how old are the kids?? That may be a factor in whether you can use it or not...

Bah. I'm getting discouraged about a project in another guild. I want to start scripting, and use the writing process to figure out what we still need world-building wise, but it seems like my partners would rather do more (rather pointless) character creation. I want to just scream: We have one year to write and illustrate at least 300 pages! What are we waiting for?!?

It's for the web comic we're doing in my guild. The thing is that we have maps, airship designs, character sketches and back stories, and even something that resembles a cross between a legitimate plot and Swiss cheese. I want to focus on plotting and scripting, and add to the world what we need to plot and script. My partners, it seems (because 1200 miles does have an effect on communications) want to develop the whole world before we plot and script. It's just frustrating. We've been talking about this for 2 years, and I want to actually start work on it. I'd like to have the first 3 volumes done by the end of 2011 so we can do other things in 2012. I'm starting to wonder if I'm taking this way more seriously than they are. It's not a particularly charitable thing to say or contemplate, but I'm also trying to keep in mind that PMS could be skewing my perceptions.

and I dunno about Imitation Brandy, I'm not entirely sure I can trust it.... but you could always just make non-alchoholic Eggnog. o.O; then spike it yourself for adults, and leave the kids with the "virgin" stuff. xd
but I don't think money is the best christmas present... I think Christmas Gifts should say something about how well you know a person, and how much you care about them. however, Money as a gift is always great no matter what time of the year. it litterally is capable of buying anything. alot more than people like to admit, in fact.... you can't get anything without money in this world...

Hey all, I'm new here. *blush*
I read a few posts back and saw about the imitation brandy being discontinued, so I did a quick search on Google. Most websites say to use rum or vanilla extract instead, in equal measure.
In the same breath, I have to say that a tiny little bit of alcohol diluted into several 8oz servings of eggnog shouldn't hurt a child. People in France occasionally allow their children to drink wine with meals, less commonly nowadays than in previous generations, but usually watered down.
One serving of brandy is about an ounce of fluid, that is to say, two tablespoons.
One serving of eggnog is 8oz, or one cup, or 16 tablespoons.
So (assuming your eggnog recipe yields at least six servings), if you put two tablespoons of regular brandy into the mixture, 94/96 tablespoons of fluid won't be brandy. Factor into the equation that brandy is usually under 60% alcohol by volume, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. If your family doesn't have much use for alcohol around the house and surplus would be silly, try getting the tiny little "sampler" size of brandy from a local liquor store. razz It might even be marginally cheaper by the ounce.
Aaaaanyway... I err, really need to go to the restroom, then get my son's diaper changed and hop back in bed. It's about 4am at the time of this post, and I need to get my kids up at 8.
