Ah yeah now isn't a good day to die because it takes two days to get to a Kai or Lord thus missing the benefits of the double power day
But if you die you won't miss the tournament it only takes two days to come back to life. Edit: Unless your doing stats on Hydra way like said below

Haruhi: Ya only spend two days dead, and I have to travel two days on Hydra Way...so I'm doing Stat Training on Hydra Way, then I'll learn me some Kai techs. Return to Earth, learn some Saiyan techs and be on my way. Hopefully...I can type at least 10K today.

Though people should be resurrected through dragonballs it would take too long for people to gather them and then you'll have selfish people who won't wish people back leaving them in otherworld for long periods of time. So they'll just be sitting there doing nothing for a while. So you only gotta be dead for two days before you come back

Reaver's stats say you cant tele away because by the time he appears and strikes, you'd be dead before you could blink. xd
