"Fighting evil? Savng the world? That sounds pretty busy to me," Mitsu said, the corners of her lips twisting downwards into a frown. She was going to add in "I really don't want to be a bother" but decided against it. She was going to ask for help anyways and it'd help if she didn't sound hypocritical.

"This is going to sound, um . . . rather odd," Mitsu began, "but I need help meeting Giovanni." She quietly waited for him to ask why, or what for. She wouldn't have minded in the slightest. Ivy's ears perked up as he heard his trainer. Did he really hear her correctly? Giovanni? Why him? Of all people, he and his scum had taken Nightmare away Ivy thought a perplexed look covering his face.

Kilik froze. Another person being involved with Giovanni? But why her? She had not previous experience with the man, at least not to his knowledge. He placed his hand over the microphone in his PokeNav and stared up at the sky so she wouldn't hear what he was about to say. "Can't I be of help when it isn't about madmen and Giovanni?" he whispered, "Just...just one time?" He moved his hand away and smiled.

"Yeah. That won't be a problem, but..." he looked over his shoulder at the back of the Gym, "Giovanni's a bit...perturbed. It may be a while before you actually get to see him. That won't be a problem would it?" he raised an eyebrow. What was he, Giovanni's agent?

Mitsu sighed a bit. "That wouldn't be a problem." She paused sensing something uneasy in his voice. Maybe it was just her imagnation, but she felt the need to explain it to him. The last thing she guessed that he wanted was more trouble with Team Rocket or thier eccentric leader. "Um, I'm sorry for bothering you with this Kilik," she apologized, "I'll explain when I get there." She was going to add in a few more comments, but decided against it.

She smiled slightly before adding, "And afterwards, we should hang out. Or when you're finished with your rescuing the world and saving damsels in distress." Lifting up the Pokeball she recalled Ivy before heading off to the train station. Viridian shouldn't take too long to get there she thought to herself.

Train jogged her memory for what moves Oddish would know. If she knew acid, then she should know...

Sweet Scent! Train grinned slightly. That was perfect! A move that could draw wild pokemon to them! But...Oddish was a bit weaker than before, and Train definatly did not want the already afraid little pokemon to faint...

But she opened Oddish's pokeball. If worst came to worst, then she could switch Oddish with Ratata, and let the little normal-type pokemon have a chance to battle. "Sweet Scent, Oddish!" Train said to the little pokemon.

Oddish looked up at her and blinked, and then, if you looked closely, you could see a pinkish-red-purple mist-type thing coming from the leaves atop Oddish's head.

Now, all they had to do was wait.

Although her resolution had been so strong just moments before, she found that same steadfastness faltering as she really considered Bugsy's side of the matter. For one, his bloodshot eyes and bags below them were indications of the previous night's work; and behind him, a couple Pokemon (perhaps regulation Pokemon, perhaps not) were just finishing up. How many hours had that been without rest? And now she was asking him to strain himself for a battle? There could only be a limit to how selfish she could be.

"Actually, Bugsy. . . Let's call this off this time," Mary-Anne said. No need to say why she'd come to this conclusion -- she had a vague feeling that if she told him the reason she decided to call off the challenge, there was a chance he'd bristle up and say that he could handle it even with his fatigue -- such was some people's pride. Not saying that he would, but she wasn't going to take that chance; no matter how respectable and strong he was, he was still a growing child in her eyes and forcing him to over-exert himself was something she could not rest on her conscience. It wouldn't be his best effort either, if he was exhausted -- what was the satisfaction of earning a badge from him in this manner? Daemyn must think so too, if he understood (the puppy did not seem to understand, however, only giving his trainer a perplexed stare).

"I shouldn't trouble you with anything else, so rest up -" The last bit slipped out without her noticing. Oh, now /that/ hadn't given her away. "Bye, and take care!" she finished hastily, grabbing Ky's hand and recalling Daemyn as quickly as she could before making their exit.

Once outside the Gym and closer to the outskirts of town, Mary-Anne let out a sigh, having let go of Ky some time ago. "Sorry about that. It just. . . wouldn't have been fair, y'know? In any case. I know this sounds kinda sudden, but do you want to move out of here?" Noticeably, she evaded the topic of re-challenging Bugsy; the moment of certainty had fled her and now she was just as indecisive as before. The rush of adrenaline, the challege - she liked that, but as for following this route, collecting Gym Battles to enter the championships and maybe even take on the Elite Four. . . somehow, it didn't appeal to her the way she thought it would.

Since Ky was fully expecting a battle to commence, M.A.'s words lost him, though she did make some good points when she took back her challenge. It was mainly her hasty decision-making that confused him. She had sounded so sure at first, so he didn't expect her to back out at all, but as Ky was being led out, away from the Gym, he could understand that M.A. was simply being thoughtful. The direction they went was somewhat random, but as they were walking, Ky kept his eyes on the heavy canopy of the Ilex Forest.

In response to M.A., Ky simply nodded and shrugged, took off his backpack, and began rustling to find his Town Map. "I've been wanting to leave for a while. Azalea Town's nice, but I still need to keep going. The next badge is in Goldenrod, which is right.... here," Ky said with the map in his hand, pointing to the correct location once it was unfolded. "So, if we move out now, we can possibly get through the... Ilex Forest... by nightfall," he continued as he traced the route with his finger. Just before Ky's thoughts continued towards challenging Whitney, he blushed a bit, realizing he had only been thinking for himself. "Well... that's the way I'd like to go. The only other way is through Union Cave, which leads back to Violet City, where I came from." He left a pause for M.A. to respond, but Ky secretly hoped she'd want to go towards Goldenrod City. "If we stay in Goldenrod for a while, we'll be near the train station, which can take us to the festival later," Ky added, a great deal of anxiety left in his voice.

"Going by bike sounds great," Keegan nodded, double-checking that they hadn't left anything behind, and he followed Kasiya outside, still a bit awestruck by the scenery that surrounded them. He went to work setting up his bike, realizing that he'd barely used it since getting it repaired in Mauville. The paint was still new and shiny, lacking even the tiniest scratch or scuffmark. He ran his hand over the handlebars and grinned to himself; thankful no one had seen him demolish it in the first place.

"I hope you know where you're going," he told Kasiya as he mounted the Acro Bike, "because I have absolutely no clue where you're planning on taking me." His smile was genuine, and he waited patiently with both feet planted on the ground while he waited for her to set up her own bike. Even though he wasn't quite sure where their destination lie, he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and happiness, due to the fact that the company was extremely good. "Whenever you're ready."

"It's not like I know exactly where this place is. I just have a general...idea," Kasiya grinned, unfolding her own bike. It was true, her father hadn't told her exactly where this Pokemon Mansion was, but she figured that on a small island like this one, it wouldn't be terribly difficult to find. She couldn't help but study Keegan's bike for a moment or two as she clicked the last piece into place. In comparison to hers, it looked brand new, and she felt a twinge of jealousy as she tried to hid a patch of chipped paint while she stood. "You've kept your bike in really good condition," she said idly, looking at the practically pristine paint. "I've put mine through the wringer a few times now," she went on, painfully remembering the many times it seemed like she'd fallen from hers. There was that time, just before she'd challenged her dad to the gym battle, and Nina had called out to her, causing her to lose her balance and face-plant the ground, which had led to the contents of her backpack spilling out all over the place. That's the day Hiro evolved... she thought, smiling at the memory in her mind. It had been an accidental evolution, but it hadn't turned out to be such a bad thing as now Hiro was one of the backbones of her Pokemon team. The worst of her falls, however, stemmed from her attempt to answer her ringing PokeNav, although it did occur to her that she'd been using a borrowed Mach Bike from the Pokemon Center in Cerulean City. That little accident had given her a sprained wrist, which sometimes still cracked painfully if she turned it the wrong way. The latest incident, however, had been entirely her fault, and had also been the day she'd met up with M.A., or Mary Anne, as she'd later found out what the initials stood for. I wonder what she's up to now? she thought, making a mental note to perhaps call her newest acquaintance later just to see how things were going.

Kasiya had been fairly lost in thought, and barely noticed when she'd climbed onto her bike and started pedaling, leading the way to their unknown destination. She kept her pace slow enough for Keegan to ride at her side, and she also failed to noticed the extended sidelong glances she kept passing his way as they rode along. "This island is gorgeous," she commented somewhat dreamily, feeling rather content in this small, island paradise. "You know, today didn't have such a great start to it, but the end is turning out to be quite nice." She focused on the road ahead of her, feeling a lot happier than she had in a long time.

"Good condition? Nah," Keegan scoffed, shaking his head lightly. "Believe me, I've wrecked this thing a few times now. Those bike repairmen really know what they're doing," he chuckled, leaning forward and pushing down on the pedals to start moving forward. "Besides," he added, glancing at the many scuffmarks and dents on Kasiya's bike, "those marks give your bike character. They make it look like you've been a lot of places with it." Perhaps someday he'd recount the tale of how he'd busted his bike up in the first place, but not now. He wasn't quite sure how she'd react to his fear of bug Pokemon though, and that thought was a bit unnerving.

It seemed like it wouldn't matter how one got around on Cinnabar Island; everything was still gorgeous, be it by foot or on a bicycle. Keegan felt content to just ride along, even if they didn't happen to be going anywhere. A peaceful ride like this was nice and relaxing, although he too wanted to get in some good training before suppertime.

Mary-Anne sighed; it was a bit draining to go from anxious to excited to zero in an hour or two. Not that she was complaining or anything. . . really, she was just a bit dazed. It wouldn't have been right to fight Bugsy with such conditions, but at the same time, she was only half certain that a gym badge was what she really wanted. When she had started this journey, bonding with Daemyn and growing together while having fun had been the objective -- somewhere down the line, she had began to see herself as a trainer, but wouldn't trainers be ecstatic at the change to gnab a Gym Battle and then someday, somehow advance to the Tournament thingie or Elite Four at the end of the road?

Maybe she couldn't feel that way because it seemed so far away. Impossible? No, nothing was impossible, she reminded herself as her brother used to say -- if she and her Pokemon put in that work, it'd come out maybe one day. But somehow, during the last day or so of thinking, she'd found that it wasn't her passion. Pure battling just. . . if it weren't for Daemyn and Tora's thirst and love for battling, she knew she wouldn't have had let herself let them duke it out and hurt themselves so, least of all for her own victory.

Training made coordinating seem tame. She'd disliked the idea of following her brother's footsteps for the longest time, but now the whole idea of coordinating, as opposed to training, almost attracted her more. To show Pokemon at their best, then fight in the finals but not to any extreme measure. . . she had shied away from this before, but now that she had experienced training, she could see what both training and coordinating really were. Now that she thought of it, up until age ten or so, she'd really wanted to be like her big brother and idolized him, but as she had grown older she'd rebelled against people recognizing her only as her brother's little sister and expecting her to have Michael's talent. What if she fell short, would she disappoint them all? More importantly, would she have disappointed herself?

But maybe --

"If we stay in Goldenrod for a while, we'll be near the train station, which can take us to the festival later." Mary-Anne blinked back to reality, having realized that she'd totally zoned out the last minute or so. She had been somewhat distracted with it all ever since she'd left the gym, but when they stopped just outside Ilex Forest she found that her consciousness of what was going on around her totally disappeared. Typical of her to ask a question then lose herself in thought of an entirely different subject before even hearing all of the answer.

"Ah. . . sure! Let's go to Goldenrod, then; I don't have any preferences, to tell the truth, and after that we can head to Hoenn for the festival." She tucked away her rambling thoughts away as she focused on what was before her now -- a very dark, scary-looking Ilex that would only get darker once night fell.

Kurine had a happy smile on her face as she saw Violet getting closer and closer. She was almost there! And, with a bit more training, she'd be able to challange Falkner! And, hopefully, win. She wondered what pokemon Falkner would have.

Though, she'd heard he had Pidgey and it's evolutions. That made sense, since he was a flying-type trainer. If only she had an electric-type! Then she'd beat Falkner for sure!

Kurine blinked as she almose tripped over a rock that was in the path, but luckily she only stumbled a bit. She scolded herself silently for not paying attention and then smiled again, laughing slightly at her own mistake.

Having been studying the map so intently, Ky didn't really notice that M.A. was in deep thought, though when he did give her that pause to answer, he could see she was troubled with something. Figuring it had something to do with her sudden change of stance at the Gym, Ky didn't press the issue, but it added to his curiosity. Had she just realized she needed to be somewhere, somewhere important? Nah. That couldn't be the case. Otherwise, she wouldn't be so unbiased as to where they were heading. Unless she was being polite...

Closing his thoughts for a while, Ky also looked into the Ilex Forest. The ground, though covered with short grass as well as the usual patch of tall grass, was not green. The canopy had done such a good job of restricting the entrance of light, that everything was an eerie gray. Making a very audible gulp of confidence, Ky began to walk forward, watching as the shadows covered his body as well. He never figured that any forest by itself could make him so nervous. He had yet to find any presence of Pokemon, yet he was already covered in goosebumps. Not wanting to let reality sink in too deep, Ky eventually fell into silent thought, pondering again why M.A. chose to leave.

"She can't have had other plans, and I know in my gut that she didn't lose her confidence. She had seemed so ready to battle, but something made her turn back so suddenly..." Ky thought. Then an idea occurred to him. "Could she still be afraid of bugs?" Ky thought of all Bugsy's Pokemon in the background that were working. "Maybe she had lost confidence. Not in her training ability, but in her effort to cope with fear." This thought made Ky frown, and thinking he had finally sorted out the answer, he spoke up, turning to M.A. with a thoughtful smile. "Ya know, M.A. You shouldn't worry so much about Bugs. Both Daemyn and Ulani have a very strong advantage over them, and I know they wouldn't give a heartbeat to keep themselves from protecting you." Hoping this was what she wanted to hear, Ky then turned back to watch the trail, reading signs that warned about Ghost Pokemon. He gave another gulp of discomfort. "I'd be more afraid of those things," he said quietly.

"Woah ho ho! Jackpot!" Anthony whispered loudly as he hid behind a tree, watching through binoculars as two unsuspecting trainers road their bikes towards his direction. "I've got two bogeys at 10 o'clock; they're not riding too fast..." He happened to turn around to see his partner fussing around with the fishing lines; it seemed he had them tangled. "No no no!" he said in a panic, shoving his partner lightly out of the way. His partner had done the knots incorrectly. Heart thumping loudly, Anthony worked diligently to fix their trap, thankful that the trainers of interest were cruising at a touristic pace.

After an adrenaline-inducing effort to reattach the fishing lines to a nearby tree, the trap was set. All they needed to do now was to run out with the lines extended, pull them as taut as they could, and watch in satisfaction as the suckers flew face first into the surrounding bushes. Holding his finger up for silence, Anthony then spoke. "On the count of three. 1, 2, ... 3!" And with that he was off, hoping his partner wasn't too hesitant on following him.

((This is for Kasiya and Keegan, btw))

Mary-Anne stared dismally at the foreboding forest before it; she couldn't see very far into it, but from experience, she already knew what was in there. A shudder fled, unbiddingly, up her spine as she stepped into the damp, cool darkness after Kysono -- aww, man, why did she have to go through this awful, eerie, Bug-ridden place again? But it was the only way to Goldenrod, so. . . Ah, well, it'd be easier to bear with company the whole entire way through. And it wasn't like nothing had come out of her coming this way in the first place -- she'd met Kilik, Ky, Crenu. . . Crenu. Where was he now?

With a small flash of light, she released the ever-faithful (and currently very irritable) Daemyn into her arms. The young pup was rather fidgety at the moment, evidently full of energy from doing very little all day. Resentfully, he glanced up at his trainer, asking with his eyes what had happened to the battle she'd promised. However, when he saw the area around him as well as the shiver that M.A.'s arms betrayed, his eyes shoneat the prospect of being a "body-guard" again, like last time. And this time Ulani wasn't there to steal his fame! Jumping from the girls arms, he made himself busy with strutting along before her, looking so rapidly to side to side to back to front that he was deemed too dizzy to walk and soon tripped over himself. The girl laughed a little. Yeah, this time, going through Ilex Forest wouldn't be so bad.

"Ya know, M.A. You shouldn't worry so much about Bugs. Both Daemyn and Ulani have a very strong advantage over them, and I know they wouldn't give a heartbeat to keep themselves from protecting you."

"Huh?" she asked, feeling a tad mixed up. "Oh! Haha, yeah, Daemyn's already assigned himself to watch out for me, and you're here too, so I've got nothing to worry about," she smiled; apparently, she'd just reassured herself and had begun to feel rather comfortable in her dark surroundings. Last time, she'd let herself get paranoid over every little sound, shadow, and movement. . . Now she was blissfully ignoring every single one. "As for the Bugs. . . Don't worry! By first instinct, I guess you could say, I'm still creeped out by them, but then I remind myself that they're Pokemon just like Ulani or Sting and then it's okay."

"You bet Anthony!" Dylan whispered back as he glanced through his own binoculars for a few moments before tangling with the line. He never liked working with the thin, strong line for their traps since it was easy to mix it up. Anthony took it and easily got it undone. He was pretty good at that sort of thing.

In a few moments his accomplice was out and running. Dylan raced after his partner. Those two woudn't know what hit them. Hopefully they wouldn't be too dangerous though. The last pair hadn't been very nice to the two hooligans.
