Elaine steps back in the kitchen. She feels cold inside. She gets her blanket and gets into her corner.She starts to cry.

Kala steps into the Giggling Pear on her way back to the Great Hall from the Slytherin Common Room. "Ah, it is good that we are so close ^_^.. Oh, what is here? You poor house-elf!" *pats head* "Me hopes you feels better.." Kala suddenly had become much smaller. Her robes at first are so large that they seem like a big dark puddle, but they soon shrink to fit Kala's new house-elf body. It's as if Kala doesn't notice that anything has happened at all. "Blue knowses just the thing to makes Elaine feel better." the transformed student now prances over to the stove, sets the water to boil with a snap of her magical fingers, and starts to rummage through the cabinets for some nettles. Blue gives a wide-mouthed grin, almost chesire like except for the big gap in the front.  "Here ya go." Once she had finished performing her duty, in a poof, Blue became much larger again. As if she was in a trance before, Kala squints her eyes in confusion "How did I get all the way over here by the stove?" she mumbles to herself.
"Well, nice seeing you elves. Toodle-doo!" With a swish of her robes and the creak of the Pear painting, clueless Kala exits the kitchens.

She frantically searched for flour, sprinkles and chocolate chips.
"I know we have some somewhere."

The new house elf shuffled in quietly and looked around at the other elves scurrying around. She just stood there waiting to be noticed shuffling her feet.

Another new house elf entered the kitchens, nervous about his new environment. He didn't know whether he was to be given instructions or just expected to join the other buisy elves.
Me's so nervous. Ineeds a job to dos. He thought.

Lyra walks into the kitchen. "Hello. May I have some hot chocolate please?"
She notices the new house elves and turns to them. "Hello. I'm Lyra, a third year Ravenclaw. I hope you like it here at Hogwarts." Smiling at them, she waits patiently.
[[I recommend reading Professor Adonis's most recent post in the Student Message Board. It contains very important information for house elves (especially new elves).
@boonap: You can just join the other elves. Sometimes a student will ask for something or Icee/Alicia Elf will give you instructions. Have you read the first page of this thread? Also, house elves either post in the default color or purple. (I'm not sure whether you can post in pink or not.) Houses post in their house colors. biggrin ]]
