hmmmm thats a matter of Opinion and depending on which side i use during play. I use all 4 sides when I play Chaos Undivided. all in all however I think Greater Daemons are my choice of play.

We need that Legions codex, the current codex is wank and a great disservice to what the Chaos Legions are supposed to represent.

Chances are that you will only be able to field cult marines when you take a certain special character. The previous Chaos codex had some nice ideas for the representation of the "big nine" though some were a bit broken. I'm looking at you, Iron Warriors list! stare

accursed traitors chaos marines deserve better representation of the legions, though with loyalist codex as any indicator this will involve special characters

Maybe the loyalist codex is the exception, the other codex books that came after it don't seem to employ special characters to change the army type.

I'd venture that Chaos would play it pretty close to the same way. The warbands are iconic of their leaders, so...yeah. At the very least, I'd venture that it will go back to the setup of the old book. With a Marked Chaos Lord, similarly marked Cult Troops will be Troops with a 0-1 allowance for different Cult Troops.

Or they'll overhaul it entirely. *shrug*

one concept I miss from earlier editions is "unmarked renegades" resembling cynical/mercenary types who dont worship any god, nor even chaos at all, with extra skills available due to concentrating on training/fighting instead of worship and sacrifices

You mean the Night Lords right? I really like how they are described in the novel Soul Hunter, who are trying to fight off both the Imperium and the influences of Chaos.

pretty much like this, but with options like some loyalist chapter that has gone mercenary fighting for whoever pays the most, kroot style... or a chapter that was wrongfully hunted by the inquisition and now does 40k version of A-team

You mean a bit like the current Chaos list that is supposed to represent Chaos renegades. I hate you GW, but I also love you! gonk

and imagine a chapter seduced by the sweettalk of Tau and going to the side of Greater Good... no skulls, clean, crisp lines in the power armor and loads of firepower

If they can go to the chaos side, then why not for the greater good?

You seriously cannot compare the Greater Good to the influence of Chaos...
