Unless it was recent, I don't remember it. There was one with three Demon hunters, but I don't remember knocking Neko out for anything else. "There might be a third option. I think if either of those first two had happened, the Protector wouldn't really exist anymore. It's possible that the phoenix...and Aurum along with her...simply left. I know he could have done it, if there was someone else willing to take him. ...I don't know if I could have lost that half of myself, though. So maybe it was one of those other things."

Fenris watched Hunter run off to his roof as she laid down on the porch. She was quite content on were she was as she smiled, staring at the familiar woods, remembering the good old times. She remembered something, and chuckled. She used to follow Neko around everywhere and to to listen in on important meetings between him and Inu. She closed her eyes slowly, wondering why he was attacking her still, whatever reason, if was very good...

A nod, and the Protector was gone. Seph blinked. "That felt weird." He said, rubbing his neck. "I think he likes the prospect of not having to answer to anyone. ..Not that he really answered to anyone in the first place.. OW!" He closed an eye and grinned, rubbing his eyelid. "Jeez, it was a joke." Seph looked back to Nyl. "Are you comfortable without the Phoenix?"

"Well...if what happened is what I think happened...then the phoenix only really gave me an immunity to fire and poison, and a set of wings. ...And a degree of immortality. The rest of it...was always Nyl's. Mine." She sat down, right there on the floor, thinking. "And I touched that fiery demon the other night, and it was hot, but it didn't really burn...but I didn't have wings then, either..." She looked up at the rafters. "It's interesting...but apparently this was always me anyway. So sure, I'm comfortable." She met Seph's eyes. "In all honesty, I feel better than I have in years. The silence in my head was unnerving at first...but now it's not so bad."
