"Hey, kid!" June swerved around to see a man wearing a red uniform. The uniform had a black capital "M" on it. The man grinned at her.

"What do you-"

"Join Team Magma. Now," the man said.

"What if I don't want to?"

"You'll have to battle me!"

The man unhooked a Pokeball from his belt. He threw it.

"Go, Meditite!"

Miharu placed her hands on her hips, a small smile had found its way onto her lips. Somehow battling alongside Rin made her feel more confident; maybe it was just that Rin was very sure of herself. Either way, Miharu became determined to win this one, and celebrate her first victory in a double battle.

"Aska, send it flying with a Whirlwind!" Miharu said, pointing at the oversized, winged insect. Aska gave a shrill cry, and flapped her wings a few times, generating a fierce blast of wind that knocked the Beedrill away from her and onto the ground. Even though the whirlwind itself shouldn't have hurt it, the impact from falling to the ground may have.

Felsic was ready for more, a noticeable bounce in his stance. Not to say the force of being steamrolled didn't hurt, but he had quite a bit of energy left. Thankfully the electric Pokemon had not paralyzed him and he still had his speed. He eyed the Electrode, who was a vast distance away, giving him the chance for another attack. The rain began to lose its strength, but was a way off from being a proverbial thorn in his side.

Nicholas was not as amused as Mike was when he saw his Pokemon transformed into a makeshift rocket. "Thundercracker, quick, get back in there! Use Rollout!" He cried out, hoping his Electrode could hear him so far away. Luckily he did, the Pokemon charging up a roll and launching right at the Quilava. Even with his surprising speed, he was still a ways away.

"Felsic, before he can reach you, use Flamethrower!" Even with the weakened power, it was his best shot. On command, the Quilava shot a pillar of flames towards the Electrode, the attack connecting. However, it was not in the mood to give up, fighting the force of the fire and picking up speed. "Keep at it Felsic, more fire!" Felsic caught a second wind, intensifying the blast of flames in hopes to stop the seemingly juggernaut like force heading his way.

Nicholas clenched his hands, the heat was making him sweat, not to mention his heart racing at the amazing battle before him. "Don't stop rolling T.C.! You're almost there!" Pushing with all his might, the Electrode fought the flames as hard as it could, its speed now at a near stop, the ball was spinning in place so fast it was now but a superheated pink blur.

Felsic's flames let up and the little Pokemon began gasping for air, that last one was too much to sustain. Before he could catch his breath, he was struck with the force of the Rollout, the near break-neck speeds causing a heavy hit.
Thundercracker however, continued his run straight through a wooden fence, embedding itself into a rocky wall.

"Oh no! T.C.!" Nicholas yelped as his Pokemon smashed into the cliff face. He recalled his battered Pokemon, letting out a gasp. "That was intense!" Mike nodded with wide eyes, that was nothing he'd ever seen before, even on television battles.

"Unfortunately," The scruffy haired boy spoke with calm voice anew. "This next Pokemon will be a delightful and shocking surprise." Mike cocked his head to the side slightly, wondering what that meant. Nicholas released his next Pokemon with a short laugh. What escaped the ball was a large and intimidating Pokemon, almost a full six feet tall. It had dark blue fur and a tan underbelly. It stood upright, large powerful legs sported this grizzly Pokemon. Felsic's eyes widened in awe and terror.

Standing in front of them was a full grown Typhlosion, Felsic's evolved form.

The blue and white fighting Pokemon had its eyes closed.

"Go, Poochy! Use Tackle!"

Poochy started running at a moderate speed, his head down, ready to strike. The he jumped at the Meditite, speed increasing his attack power. He slammed into the Meditite.

"Meditite, Focus Punch."

Meditite opened its eyes, completely unaware it had been attacked. Then it began focusing its attack, its fist glowing white.

"Poochy, use Tackle now!"

Poochy once again shot himself at Meditite. This time, however, he missed.

"Take this loser out, Meditite!"

Meditite swung his arm, now glowing white, at Poochy.

"Poochy, dodge!"

Poochy quickly ran from Meditite's powerful fist. Meditite hit the ground, its fist sinking into deep sand. It was stuck.

"Meditite, stop playing in the sand!"
Meditite struggled, trying to loosen himself.

"Poochy, Tackle, once more!"
Poochy came on with force this time. As he headbutted his foe, Meditite's arm came loose.

"Meditite, use Focus Punch!"
It was too late for Meditite. The Tackle had finished it.

The Hoothoot took the attack stagnantly, feeling its health drain rapidly from not only the flames but the poison flowing through its small body. It would not be long before it was entirely knocked out.

Daemyn's ember, however, was not limited to one aimed at the bird; he soon quickly loosed more fiery attacks consecutively in Ledyba's direction. The Bug Catcher frowned, knowing that if those attacks connected, it could be fatalistic to Ledyba. "Hooti, hang in there, and Protect Lady!" he cried, pointing to the bug just a few feet away from the owl-like Pokemon. And, with no hesitation whatsoever and with all the speed it could muster, Hooti pushed herself before the Ledyba just in time, creating a greenish barrier that hovered before them just long enough to absorb all the attacks. Then, the poison eating away the last of its consciousness, the bird fell to the ground. After recalling his Pokemon, the Bug Catcher smiled fondly upon its Pokeball, murmuring, "Great job; you really did great."

"Now, Lady, you can do the rest!" Eyes leaping with inner flames, the Ledyba aggressively flew towards the Houndour before her, about to make him pay for her comrade's KO, but was suddenly halted by a sweet sound nearby. Ulani, still confused, began to sing for little or no reason at all -- but this wasn't any ordinary song, for just a few notes into the melody, both Pokemon teetered off their feet and fell asleep. Both trainers nearly did as well, if they hadn't known better and plugged their ears.

"Lani, try to snap out of it and attack with a Peck," M.A. said desperately as she crossed her fingers, as the bird was the only one up. However, the Swablu mistook Daemyn for Ledyba, and attacked him deftly instead, ramming into him full force. Naturally, he woke up, and nearly bit his partner's wing off ferociously. "Daemyn, no! Ember at the Ledyba," his trainer said, waving her arms to get his attention away from poor Ulani and towards his opponent. Taking out his irritation with this final attack, he spun semi-powerful (at least for him) balls of fire at the sleeping Pokemon, wiping it out without it ever knowing.

"Aw. . . you won," the Bug Catcher said grumpily, recalling his singed Bug Pokemon. He then reached for his wallet and was just about to offer M.A. her winnings, but she refused stubbornly. "We were just lucky this time," she sighed, shaking her head at her two Pokemon and recalling them before Ulani could hurt herself further and Daemyn could assist her in that regard. "You guys had such great teamwork," she said enviously. Ulani hadn't intentionally tried to be the problem, and she would've complied and worked with any order M.A. issued, but Daemyn. . . He listened to her as well, but only her exclusively, and cared little or not at all for anyone else. Not even his teammate had any worth to him. He'll still take a while, M.A. thought to herself, smiling sadly to no one in particular; for some reason, she felt as if she were the one to blame for this. Maybe she hadn't done enough for him? Until he opened up freely, not just to her but to others, he'd still be lonely, somewhere deep in side. . .

"Want more?" June asked coldly.

"N-no, we're fine!"
Then man called back Meditite andfled for the distant hills.

A trainer had been watching them.
"You and that Poochyena did pretty good. But, of course, you need to train more. That Tackle was out of balance."

June nodded. "I know I have to train more. I hope Poochy will be up for it."

Nina touched down in Celadon a short time later, considering the fact that it wasn't very far from where she had previously been. She recalled Krystal into her Pokeball, and took a stroll towards the Department Store.

On the way, Nina passed the hospital that she had been admitted to not all that long ago. "That's not exactly a place I ever plan on going to again," she thought outloud.
Anna nodded in agreement, and she remembered what Jane had told her. Nina isn't even Sabrina's sister. Anna knew that she had to tell Nina, but didn't know when the right time was, especially considering that she didn't even know who Nina's birth parents were. Then, an idea struck her.

"Nina?" she said to her trainer. "I need to go to the hospital really quick. One of the, uh, nurses... She said that she had something for me, but I forgot to pick it up when we were there.

Nina raised an eyebrow at her Pokemon. "Yeah. Uhm, what are you talking about, Anna?" she asked, a bit boggled. "Don't worry about it, honey," Anna replied. "I'll be right back, okay? And... if they have it, could you pick me up a Shadow Ball TM? That'd be nice." Before Nina could object or ask any more questions, Anna flew off toward the hospital, and passed through one of the walls.

Nina stood, extremely confused. "What in the hell is going on today?"

Felsic stood and stared in utter amazement. He craned back, looking his trainer right in the eyes. His little mouth fell and a sparkle went off in his gaze, his look pretty much screaming: "I'm going to turn into THAT!?" He almost couldn't believe it. What stood before him looked so powerful, almost god-like.

Nicholas smiled cockily at the Quilava's adoring looks. "Vulcan! Mega Punch now!" Uttering no confirmation, the Typhlosion took off, large clumps of dirt being torn from their place as it charged. Felsic stood stationary, unable to move.

"Watch out, he's heading straight for you! Move out of the way!" Mike cried out, noticing the Fire Pokemon's statuesque state.

Too late, Vulcan scored I direct hit on the entranced Quilava, uppercutting him into the sky with a shot to the gut. Felsic landed with a loud 'thud' sound, struggling to rise. The opposing Typhlosion walking to the downed Pokemon. The Quilava looked up, the sun in his eyes. Vulcan's shadowy figure towered over him, a giant silhouette.

The last thing he remembered was Vulcan lifting his foot, and bringing it down on his face.

"Felsic!" Mike cried out, before realizing that Nicholas had stopped Vulcan's attack from connecting, Felsic had only fainted from shock. He let out a sigh, recalling his Pokemon. "That's some powerhouse you've got there." He remarked, smiling at his opponent.

"No doubt Felsic will make a fine Typhlosion one day." Nicholas gave off a warm smile. Mike was comforted by the fact that for once, his rival trainer wasn't a complete d**k. The boy unclipped his next Pokeball, he knew exactly who he was using. "Time for some more fun Xanthos!" The Crawduant was released, who slammed his pincers on the ground. He looked at his opponent, it reminded him of Mike's little fire spitter.

"Vulcan, Brick Break!" The Typhlosion got down on all fours and raced at Xanthos, his left paw emitting a trailing light.
"Stop it with Surf!" Mike ordered, happy to see that his Pokemon was already on it. The Crawduant knew how to battle this type of Pokemon, summoning a large wave to meet Vulcan head on.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 04, 2007 4:18 pm

Vulcan couldn't do much but attempt to push through the wave. He had minimal success, the wave crashing down, sweeping him off his feet. "Vulcan, try it once more!" Nicholas ordered, his Pokemon complying with utmost diligence. He shot forward, chopping Xanthos on his head.

The crab Pokemon let out a high pitch noise, much like the scream of a hot air balloon with a large hole in it. He regained his footing, glaring at the Typhlosion standing just a few feet from him. Xanthos smashed the ground again, summoning another Surf attack.
The ground beneath Vulcan cracked, and he had just about enough time too look downward before the geyser of water tossed him into the air like a rag doll. The move did its damage, but Vulcan recovered mid air beautifully, launching a Fire Blast at the Dark Pokemon.

Mike didn't shake off the odd move choice, Typhlosion's flame attacks were noting to underestimate, even with the type disadvantage. "Quick, use Protect!"

Xanthos crossed his arms in front of his body, the Fire Blast only meters away and closing fast. Right before it struck, it met resistance, the green shielding effect of Xanthos's defensive move. It exploded, sending the Crawduant backward, his feet leaving large tracks in the dirt.

The trainer snapped his fingers at a successful block. "Good job, now finish this off with Dig!" Happy to comply, the crab quickly burrowed underneath the earth.

The opposing trainer had a strained look on his face, he knew Vulcan was toast if that attack connected. "Uh, Vulcan, use Smokescreen!" Soon the playing field was covered in a thick black haze.

Anna looked around, and found her way back down to the ER. She wasn't surprised to find one of the nurses, Scarlet, down there.

"Hey," Anna said, "you there, with the face." Scarlet looked at Anna strangely. "Uh, yes? Is there something that I can help you with?" Anna floated closer to the nurse. "As a matter of fact, yes there is. You took care of my trainer, Nina Williams. Or, at least, you tried to until she almost got killed. But, to badmouth you isn't why I'm here. You and your friend Jane told me that Nina isn't Jessica and Michael's daughter. Some of her blood was drained when her kidneys were cleaned out. I want you, or somebody else here, to run a check on Nina's DNA and find the people that it matches. Is that do-able?"

Scarlet stared at Anna as if she had just been asked to unlock the mysteries of the universe. "Miss, we aren't a forensics lab. And, I'm sorry to tell you, but we would need the DNA of everyone else in the world before we could even come up with a match!"

Anna tilted her head. "That isn't my problem. I strongly suggest that you pull up Nina's DNA on whatever machine it is that you humans would use for this sort of thing, and run a check against the DNA of the people that you already have. Now, don't talk back." Not waiting for a response, Anna floated through one of the walls, exiting the hospital. She headed off to the Department Store, passing through one of the walls, and through the ceilings of several floors before she found Nina.

Nina was shuffling around through the racks of TMs and HMs that the store supplied, and picked one out. She jumped a moment later, and was slightly surprised as her Pokemon appeared next to her. "Anna. Hi. Did you get what you needed?" she asked. "Erm, not yet," her Pokemon confessed. "However, I believe I'll be getting it soon." She paused. "Hey, is that Shadow Ball?"

"Whew, it was stuffy in there," the green haired girl sighed as they stepped outside. Keegan looked up at the sky, noting the position of the sun. It had felt like they'd been in that gym for hours, but it really hadn't been that long. And truthfully, the haze of scents from the many flowers and plants inside had been giving him a nasty headache. "Give me scorched sand and igneous rock any day," he sighed, rubbing his temples with his fingers.

"So, battle now?" the girl asked, nearly hopping up in down in anticipation. "And I'll have you know that even though I'm a member of Erika's gym, I have more than just grass types."

"Good for you, Kid," Keegan replied, stifling a yawn. "Have at it already."

"I'm not a kid," she huffed angrily. "I'm fourteen years old, I'll have you know!"

"Sure. Fine. Whatever. Look, are we going to battle or can I go back inside to watch the rest of my friend's gym match?"

"You're no fun," the girl groaned, sticking her tongue out at him. "But fine. Let's battle already!" With that, she released a Pokemon, a sturdy-looking Pokemon that strongly resembled a walking tree. "Sudowoodo's my choice of Pokemon."

"Althena, you're up," Keegan said calmly, as his young Psyduck made her entrance. She scratched her side and looked up at the Sudowoodo curiously.

"Psy?"

Nicholas and Mike both stared into the Smokescreen, hoping their Pokemon would be the one walking out.

Inside the haze, Vulcan was beginning to lose its cool. The two water attacks had really done a number on his stamina, and he knew how doomed he was if this attack was successful. He stood still in hopes to hear anything that would give away Xanthos' position. Suddenly he heard a quake underneath the ground, gravel spitting upwards a dozen meters to his left. The cracks traveled straight for him, dirt and earth rising up as it gave chase to the bewildered Fire Pokemon. He let out a cry, stepping backwards on his hind legs. He launched a scorching hot Flamethower at the direction of the fissure, but it was futile. Xanthos burst from the ground and smashed his entire body into Vulcan, who rolled out of the Smokescreen limp.

Nicholas slumped his shoulders, retracting his Typhlosion. "Not bad, but my last Pokemon will leave you speechless, Go Kundo!" The fighting Pokemon who had remained silent the entire battle stepped forward, standing straight up.

"Oh, I have a feeling mine will too." Mike said with a snicker as he called out his final Pokemon. After a flash of light, his Pokemon revealed himself.

"Higaaaakatu!"

June looked at the trainer.
"What's your name?"

"Ben."
The boy trainer replied.

"Um, you don't happen to know when the Hoenn Contests start, do you?"

"The Hoenn Contests start in February. The contests going on are in the Kanto."

"I see. Well, what do you think? Should I go to Kanto to compete or wait a while for Hoenn Contests to come around?"

"I think you should go to Kanto."

The scruffy looking boy raised an eyebrow at Beacon, the typical response. "Alright, I trust he's another fighter so I won't judge him by his...mannerisms." The pause from the last remark was the result of watching Beacon grazing in dirt. "Kundo, start off with a Rolling Kick!"

Slapping his legs, the Hitmonlee rolled forward, launching a super speedy kick at Beacon.
To his surprise, the Ampharos arced his body backwards, the Fighting Pokemon soaring inches over him. Kundo landed with a skillful flip, rolling into another kick. This time it connected, the foot causing Beacon to tumble backwards.

"Beacon, I want this battle to be in record time, Brick Break!" Mike called out, giving his Pokemon a reassuring smile. This pleased Beacon, who wagged his tail before charging at the Hitmonlee and backhanding him upside the shoulder. Surprisingly, the attack did much more damage than expecting, Kundo crying out in pain. "Wow, nice hit Beacon!"

Nicholas fired out another order, a bead of sweat traveling down his face. "Switch to defensive tactics, don't let that Ampharos hit you Kundo!"
