No, it can't. While the fluff says Shas'vre ranked warriors have access to Special Issue gear, the actual rules say that the only ones with access to it are those who have the access mentioned in their army list entries; i.e. Crisis Commanders, Crisis Bodyguards, and Crisis Shas'vre. No one else has access to the SI gear.

The AFP is a big blast that denies cover. Great for clearing Cameleoline Guard or Pathfinders/Rangers. It's also the Tau's only Barrage weapon. Pity the range is so short.

But it said that stealth suits could have one battle suit system and the fail safe was listed in the same section as the battlesuit systems so I though they could. It'd be kinda cool, I mean, story wise to have one Shas'vre stay behind while the others run.

What does the cyclic ion blaster do? I'm still trying to figure out the game terms...

You can't use it for two reasons. One, note that the armory is split up into three columns, Weapon systems, support systems, and wargear. Stealths are allowed one support system, not wargear. Two, while the Team Leader or Shas'vre does get access to wargear, the rules for Special Issue earlier in the armory have already established that only characters whose unit entry specifically grants them access to Special Issue gear may take SI items. Look at the Stealth entry again. Nowhere does it state that a Stealth Shas'vre may take Special Issue equipment.

If you want to give the Stealth Shas'vre a suicide bomb, you'll have to explain what you've done to everyone you play and ask if they're okay with it. Otherwise, you are cheating. Also, you would not be allowed to use it in a tournament.

The CIB rules are on page 26 of the codex, top of the middle column. It's basically a pretty weak weapon that spams a ton of shots, and once in a while a shot will cut through infantry armor. It's about as good Vs. Marines as the Plasma Rifle, but I don't like it because of the low strength and the range isn't really that great either.

Oops, my bad, I didn't see the obvious (Special Issue) thing. sweatdrop But I think the guys at the game store might let me do that...they're pretty cool...

I've read the rules but I'm more of a visual person so I have to think on what I read and try to picture it. Actually, the way you told it was much easier for me to comprehend then the rules.

Like I said, I'm learning...

So, uh, is GamesWorkshop or forgeworld ever going to make the pieces needed for the missing vehicle/battlesuit gear?

Can a XV25 stealth suit have the failsafe detnator?

and what's the airburst fragmentation thingy for?

(I finally got the codex so I'm gonna be bugging ya'll with stupid questions so bare with me)

if you can upgrade it to shas, vre, yes...
airburst frag launcher is basically shrapnel bomb to clear troops using cover like eldar rangers
Is it worth anything? The airburt frag launcher

Only battlesuits can have the detonator.

No not really, cyclic ion blaster is a superior choice.

Eh, I'd dispute that. Against Marines, yeah, the CIB is better, but the AFP is WAY better against Guard and Orks. Plus, the CIB really need to be mounted on a model with BS5 to get the most out of it, and I don't want my commander inside 18" of the enemy. In general, I feel that the majority of the SI stuff is useless junk. The only piece I use regularly is Stim Injectors.
I only ever play against marines, and my battle suits are used as suicide men to buy time for the railguns to chew out the enemy.

Some people field them for fluff purposes. Or is this unheard of by you lot?
Yes, its unheard of. I for one actually like winning battles.

I can see people doing that though.

Then its not unheard of by you is it, 'tard.

I think Etherals are pretty cool and can be good if used right in a game.

Perhaps specify what "using them right" is, that would ensure you dont suffer the dowsides, or that makes up for their cost. Thatd be much more constructive than a one word statement that applies to almost everything in the game.
unheard of, I have never heard of people using them. I can IMAGINE them being used. But I myself, have yet to see it.

Regardless, the concept is not lost on you, and you can imagine it done. Though the phrase is "unheard" of, like a lot of retarded english words, phrases and colloqiualisms (sp?) its not literal. Such as "how dare you". If it were literal, than it still wouldnt matter as youve "heard of it" the moment you read Brookman's (I believe thats who argued fluff) post. Unless youre taking even more literally and claim you hadnt heard it as you had to read it because its text based media.

And in short, the real point is, dont make an a** of yourself by being rude to someone who wasnt even being offensive.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

....oh were you serious? confused

was a dickish response. Ill agree in thinking that ethereals are not great choices (though I prefer not to call any unit useless). However, rather than being rude, you couldve just made another point on how bad they are, reiterate a previous point you or soemone else made, or just ask what the hell he meant by "using right" (as that applies to anything).

Anyways, if it wasnt intentional, than nifty s**t, all is cool. Just next time, think about how things like that come off to people reading it.

As it says in the codex. Please read it through thoroughly once or twice from end to end. Also, should you not have one of these, buy one as well. You MUST.

Bugger man, I have read through the codex, and I do have the rule book, but that doesn't mean I comprehend the rules and stuff so readily!

If I knew what the hell it did, do you think I'd be asking ya'll?

It helps make the experience more enjoyably by calculating where the elbows are.

More or less ensures that you can bring on one unit from reserves, but keeps any other units in reserves from coming on in the same turn. See page 84 of the main rulebook, bottom of the second column to see how Reserves work, then re-read the rules for the Positional Relay on p. 27 of the Tau codex to make more sense of it.
