Cael 0x It's a tough call. In this tournament I'm rocking pretty much 0 armor besides a "1x cool leather jacket: it kind of helps a little." I think it's easy to argue a character's skill, agility, dexterity, and footwork can keep her alive 90% of the time, but you also risk giving others the perception that you will simply dodge or deflect everything. I personally think it's borderline permissible so long as you are reasonably descriptive in your actions, giving your opponent the opportunity to outmaneuver you instead of replying with something like "I twist my body and it glances off me" basically all the time. The other problem is this is Gaia. You cannot account for being able to take advantage of your superior movement all the time, or be able to rationally respond to any and all attacks. You can, will, and should get hit. So if you play a normal human with no armor, you're basically leaving it up to a 50/50 chance that something won't royally ******** you up for good reason. Given the kinds of powers thrown around in these tournaments, some degree of protection is pretty much necessary, natural or otherwise. I'm still pretty certain my character is going to get royally ******** at some point. I mean he had half his face practically burnt to a crisp already. I'm personally OK with that. But even from an IC standpoint it's because he's arrogant and doesn't really fear death in a meaningless fight. It's rational for any sane person to place much greater importance in their own protection in a world full of monsters and superpowers. I understand all of that, and I have lost the majority of the fights I have ever been in because I try to be a realistic as possible and allow her to take blows like a champ. The armor thing is only to upgrade her from the basic fighter she is, add a little bit of protection without going overboard and not being able to move efficiently enough to evade. That's why I liked those shorts, they are flexible but have a small amount of padding to cushion a hit enough to make it bearable, of course depending on how big a hit it is. I want her upper torso to have the same protection, but they didn't make an upper torso to match that one. I'll probably just end up having the artist I commission draw out a similar piece for the top, and then throw in some extra gold to draw the armor by itself for the profile.

The Thunder Tyrant Just as a note, while I have said that (and do still support that idea), it's also a two way street: the participants have a right to bring up issues, complaints, criticisms, etc., with staff, but it's a two-way street. Hosting a tournament is a civil service, and it's done for free. That means that, while tournament hosts are held accountable to the participants, the participants are also held accountable to a certain degree of understanding regarding mistakes, ********, or what have you. Because it is a service, it is being done for free, and it does take both time and effort. Part of participating is being willing to speak up when there's issues, but to also know that staff are trying to handle s**t as best they can, so a little tact is necessary when bringing up complaints. To a degree, at least. If the mistakes are especially egregious or the people hosting the tournament are stepping over some serious ethical or behavioral boundaries, then a lot of that tact and courtesy can go out the window, imo. But if the staff is at least TRYING to listen and solve issues - even if they do get frustrated - then a bit of courtesy can (and should) go a long way because, hey, nobody gets paid to read our s**t and pat us on the head when we do good. Yes to all of it. I also want to add that at the end of the day since participation is voluntary if you are really unhappy you can just leave/walk out of it and save yourself the overall hassle. I was just explaining to Sunsworn why everyone was "beating this dead horse". It's because the horse wasn't just one horse...it was a stable of the ******** and although no one should expect Hero and Co. to have this done pact...they in turn should recognize that if several sane adults are all on agreeance of saying " Yeah Vinny's bad but his actually kind of right at the moment..." You done ******** up big time because no one likes to agree with Vinny. No one.

Welp, I've got the basics of her profile down finally. I would enjoy some critic, since the profiles for this tournament were graded and accepted. Red- Profile

This is really the best to go if you are trying to go with style as well as functionality. Like I gave a riot suit... which for this tournament is probably perfect but in my own preference was a bit too strong. I mostly did it to keep him going down the path of being a modern day white knight and also because I needed something to replace the shield he was commonly known for toting about. Based the design off Gaian items and when Lucid gets some free time gonna have him draw it out.

I'll have to check

I'm just saying you can construct something instead of relying on existing images. As for your profile. It seems fine. As all things on Gaia it's more so how you use then what's in it.

I'll offer my critique. There is a lack of detail regarding the extent of her abilities. I'm going to look at this from a tournament profile grading standard because I believe you said you're interested in jumping in. Let's look at the first ability as an example: -Air solidification: As written it has a great deal of potential for causing problems. I'd say the limitations are pretty thin right now or they could use more explanation. For a tournament in particular you need to describe what her level of skill in manipulating this power is at. If she can basically control five invisible limbs with a presumably long reach, and modify the physical properties of those limbs presumably at will such that they can become as hard and presumably as sharp as steel or greater, she will be borderline OP for most of the tournaments I've been in. I say presumably because there is simply a lack of detail in those areas. How long can she make these tendrils? How fast can she move them? Can she move all five independently without difficulty as if she had literally five extra arms? Does it require any real concentration or effort to modify the properties of these tendrils? And you note she uses her power specifically to create such tendrils, but can she still use it in other manners? Can she fire a high-speed projectile of invisible compressed air like a bullet? Or an extremely sharp disc of air like an invisible blade? Being in an environment without air or a vacuum is pretty much a non-issue because those aren't reasonable fighting conditions for most competitors besides those on the level of superheroes or demigods. I suppose you could say underwater, but that would still put most competitors at a disadvantage. This line of rationale extends to much of the other abilities. In terms of general Gaia "mainstream" RP the profile is fine because the sky is really the limit and profiles aren't really a necessity. However, it is always more helpful to be descriptive in exactly how an ability works so that the other RPers can play off of it. You certainly want to give yourself some leeway to adapt to situations that will lead to more interesting RP, whether it means giving your character a boost to her abilities or giving her some more restrictions. But in a tournament going outside the bounds of a profile is generally a violation, so the bounds of your abilities need to be pretty clearly defined. Tournaments vary in what is or is not acceptable, of course, and my own critique is admittedly from the standpoint of a tournament of a lower power level where a highly skilled and highly trained human fighter could reasonably compete.

That is all very useful, actually. I know I need to detail more out, but I never looked at it from so many small points. That's something I will work on.

Glad to help. I hope to see you in a tourney soon.
On another note, Vikings is a pretty cool show. I really want to make a Viking-style character now.
Be all a bad a** and using a shield as a weapon.

Alright, so far I think I have the first ability outlined rather well. I added in and italicized what's new. If everything looks better I'll move onto the next one, if anything else needs clarifying let me know.
