Totoma's Name: Paints with Purpose
Owner Username: Solar Occultation
Link to uncert: Uncert
Name Origin: He saw beauty in everything, from the sun peeking through the valleys of the mountains to the stillborn fawn in the snow, and so he saw art, just waiting to be expressed, in everything as well. After all, MotherFather was the creator and, by nature, creators were artists. And so he aspired to be an artist, just like the MotherFather. He would use the bounties of nature to express his thoughts, his feelings, his opinions. He would talk through it, just as the MotherFather talked to them through the wonders of the world.
It was not well received. He was laughed at by other totoma. Not all, but a good many scolded him, told him art could not, would not solve problems. It was too passive. He was too passive.
And yet, with nose and hoof and tail and tongue, he created wonders. Expressive scenes with soft edges and hard messages. Some kin looked upon his work and expressed admiration at its beauty and to them he sneered. "You look but you do not see," he would grumble. Those kin who did understand, who saw through his abstractions, would then chuckle and console the others. "You must forgive him, he does not paint such beauty to merely be admired, he paints to express things that cannot be said in words, he paints with purpose."
