You've never experienced Pendulum Step Saphen.
It's an experience you can't really even get an inkling of until you've dealt with it.

Kazyan What the ******** is Pendulum Step? Glad you asked.
I've been studying it for years, and this is what I've gathered thus far.
Pendulum Step is the ultimate technique. You will either instantly win or instantly lose by utilizing it; there are no exceptions.
I. You must charge towards your opponent while they are clearly watching you and ready to strike you the instant you're within striking range.
II. You must at the point prior to where you would take damage, stop. However, you must also run forward. You can't just do one - you must do both, simultaneously, thus allowing you to remove their weapon or break their limbs or shatter their spines or what have you, without fear of retaliation.
III. You must completely and utterly destroy them in this action, but then claim you never left the spot you were at, or else you'd be admitting you were struck by the opponent's attack. However, you must also admit you ran forward, so that your attack could take place. Eating your cake and wedging a cake-filled enema up your opponent's a** too.
IV. You will either pose victoriously, or be told you are an inept dipshit by everyone around you before an enraged judge deems you have jumped onto a sword blade like a retard, and that you have died, before your soul is ripped from your corpse and thrown into a pocket slave-dimension for the judge's minions to skull and a** ******** your soul for all of eternity.
That is Pendulum Step. [Raises right hand.] A most dangerous ability indeed.

Yeah...that's just someone ******** up the Pendulum Step.
The actual Pendulum step is a martial arts move ideally performed between two unarmed opponents. The person using it would rock between their front and rear foot at the edge of both of your ranges, hoping and waiting for their opponent to try and hit em with a jab or whatever. When timed right, they would have rocked forward right before the jab is initiated and then rock back causing the attack to miss and then rock forward again to land a counter while their opponent is still recovering.
Basically a bait-counter combo.

Since X's fun time, I've renamed that PS "Pendulum Step Alpha." For all intensive purposes, any time you hear Pendulum Step, it'll be Pendulum Step.
