I just lost one of my good friends in school after she said that the people who died from the recent earthquake in Pakistan deserved to die because they worship "false gods"
When she said that, I responded "What?!" and she said "Yeah! They all worship the Buddha!"
Stupid b***h. Good thing she dosen't know I'm a pagan.
Death is never funny unless it's fictional. Or a Darwin award.

I don't think death is funny at all.

Taylor_Highwind: For now, entertainment and collection. Hopefully the admins plan to release trade-in items for them.
I can't stand to think too long about these disasters. I get physically sick when I think of even a single child suffering or being lost.
...in fact am starting to get queasy just thinking about thinking about it...

As a Geologist, I don't find death by natural disasters as bad as death by, lets say, AIDS, car crashes, or getting shot. Death by natural disasters is the way to go. Death by the hands of man is much more depressing.
General Advice: Before you move somewhere, check what kind of natural disasters the area can get. If you live on a coast line, you have to expect to get Tsunamis and Hurricanes, and you have to prepare for the concequences. If you live on a flood plane, expect floods. If you live on a fault line, expect earthquakes.
New Orleans was located several feet below sea level, right between the ocean and one of the biggest rivers in the world. New Orleans' flooding wasn't the Hurricane's fault, it was mankind's fault. They built Leveys around the city to prevent the natural flooding of the Missisippi river. Flooding of flood planes keeps plants healthy and revives the soil. Without the flooding, plants died and the soil their roots held together was eroded away. New Orleans was above sea level before leveys were built around the river.
Keep this in mind when you're old enough to move and buy a house. Always expect the worse to happen, because one day it will.

-shudders- When I watch anything about the recent hurricanes, I feel both thankful that I haven't suffered through more than a category three, and freaked out that one as strong as Katrina will hit my area. I'm currently paranoid about where hurricane Wilma will hit, and what damages she'll do. sad

OMG!
MY school flooded! They just spent 6mill. on a new art building for us art majors.... and the feilds water drains in to it! gonk it downpoured for like 20 mintues (I know that doesnt seem like much, but downpour +Vegas = REALLY REALLY BAD flooding!) We slowly watched the water enter our building. then a couple mintues later we slowly watched it enter our classroom, (while running around moving artwork out of the way.) Then we relised.... there were electrical outlets on the floor! so we evacuated the building, and moved in to the cafiteria....
And we just got new computers too! at the beging of the month.... we had them all set up, pluged in.... and turned on... (with Photoshop CS and flash MX studio on them all!) ... that room was across the hall from mine..... and we know that it started flooding too! crying
And my car! There is that random hole in it because its top is too small... and there wasnt anything blocking it! So my car had puddles in it! The engine started making funny noises too......

Miriam The Bat *points to Vincent for another example* Then again, what do you expect for a city founded by crime smile I know, but I didnt expect them to build our art building so the water from the rest of the school drained in to it!
