98 The Ottomans wanted to control Europe not so much for revenge for the Crusades, but it is indicative that they want to extend their empire as far as possible.
As for their rivalry with the Persian dynasties, it is mainly because of religious reasons.

50 They didn't just want Eastern Europe. They also wanted the Western portion.
The reason as to why the Ottomans and the Persians had a rivalry is due to two reasons: 1. The Ottomans follow Sunni Islam, whereas the Persians are predominantly Shia. 2. They want a lot of political control and prestige.

Do you want it! Do you need it! Can you feel it! 56 Lol, I remember learning in European History that when the ruler of the Ottoman Empire died, the sons would have to race to the palace and whoever got there first was the new ruler. xd It was supposed to be the eldest son, but fighting always ensued anyway.

58 Exactly. Their rivalries for the throne drained the empire of resources and much-needed military development.

Do you want it! Do you need it! Can you feel it! 60 I'm sure that most of Europe had royal rivalries too. The other funny thing I learned was that Poland was 15% nobles and that each one had a veto vote in parliament. They could never get anything done. xp

62 They did. surprised
Had the Polish nobles been able to decide in a good compromise, then Poland would not be chopped up between the Prussians to the west and the Russians to the east.

70 Agreed.
Had the Persians decided to invade the Ottomans around 1571, then the Persians would have modern-day Iraq, Kuwait, parts of Jordan and Arabia.
