Hello all of my fellow clarinet peeps! I'm a freshman at Quakertown High School (Actually we have our own Freshman Center, so there's the Concert band which is 9th grade, and the Symphonic band, which is 10, 11, and 12). I've been playing the clarinet for 6 years now, but this is my first year in marching band (The marching band includes 9-12th grades). Personally I believe that I'm first chair in band, but my bd doesn't believe in that stuff. He's all "we're not going to have only one person play 1st all the time, we're going to switch it up." In my grade there are only three clarinets, but all together the high school and FC have 14 clarinets. I can play past a high G, not right above the staff but 4 lines above. I have a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece, but I still only have my beginner plastic clarinet. I frickin' love playing and marching.

YAY clarinets! I love my clarinet but it broke sadly. I bent a key and the pads are rotting but anyway i am so glad to have people to talk to. I have been playing the clarinet 2 years and I am in a award winning marching band and concert band. Right now marching season is over and we are a concert band. Our BD is new but he is totally awesome and says we are the best. I thought about switching to sax but im dedicated to my clarry. hehe but comment me if u want more

I've been playing clarinet for 5 years too! Yay! I can't march but Eclair (my clarinet) has been through my side through the heat and the freezing cold of parades!

I've been playing for five years and I've marched one year with the clarinet, after that I went to guard for marching band and only play clarient for concert(I love concert music!!!!) razz

Mavu-kun Skye of Thunder lol..we were only given the opportunity to start in 6th....But I assure you I took advantage of it hehe...Soo..have you marched clarinet before? you bet, my marching band is second best in the mid-atlantic region! well small marching bands put on a great show. i bet ur marching band has like 1000 players in it

I played Clarinet from 6th through 10th grade. I requested band as a junior, but the band I signed up for was the same time as my foreign language class, so they stuck me in there instead.
It was so sad.
This is at a new high school, so two of my clarinet buddies also didn't get in because of some weird scheduling. Our old high school used to have band before or after school. I liked that.

Happy News!
I get to upgrade my instrument! Hopefully I can get one of my own soon! (my band teacher is going to let me use the one she's using so when I have band we switch clarinets) So happy!

I love my Claribelle! Does anyone know of where I can get an old, 60 ear old clarinet fixed or somehow I can fix it myself(last resort). It has been passed down in my mom's family, but she was the only one to continue on through high school. I want to play it too, but it needs about $1000 worth of work to make even a sound.
Oh, and does anyone know of where I can get a fairly good mouthpiece and how much it would cost. Mine kind of broke yesterday...

The best mouthpieces money can buy are by Richard Hawkins. Look him up online. You can buy a premade mouthpiece according to your needs or he will meet with you and make a completely unique one. They are a little pricey but are the best investment you can make.
So anyway, I'm a senior at Oak Lawn Comm. HS and I was drum major this year and section leader both this year and last year. I love clarinet so much. Its the best hobby anyone could have!!!!!! smile

Freshman at RSHS! =3 Let's seee...I've been playing for 4-5 years now? Sounds about right. And I don't do marching band, even though the director keeps trying to recruit me haha. Sitting third chair in concert band which I think is hella good considering I'm a freshman and the first and second chairs are taken by juniors/seniors. I might drop concert band my junior year to take AP Art History but don't worry! I'll take it back up senior year.
