Vintrict Red the Ambivalent Ughrghh. Finding actual effective women's armor is...Impossible. It's like, every designer for women's gear wants them to lose in a bloody, gory, horrible death for the sake of seeing boobage and skin. Stop going to animepics.com for your references. ;p I'm using the Bing image search D: This is the only thing I have found that might work. The rest? NONSENSE

Use Google images, since it has a large repetoire. Your problem is that when you put "female" in the search, you're going to get mostly scantly pics. Cause internet. You're better off just looking up fantasy armors in general. Even if it has a male on it, use it for reference. Also using searches for World of Warcraft armor, or any other mmo/ video game works. They usually have more functional armor, but not always. Guild Wars works wonders, too, especially Guild Wars 2. The list goes on.

Colonel Iyam A Heita Lord Haelstrom Gonna be lots of folk haeling the heit.Oh it will be a beacon... a Beacon of Heit with bacon. Also Sun...what Hael said. I'm all for civility but you cannot have progression and evolution without discourse and problems. It's part of the course. ThunderTyrant said it best a while back amongst the many conversations I have had with. I'm paraphrasing but "Hosting a tournament is civil service. You are working for the people and as such the people have a right to tell you if they think you are doing a poor job of it." The decisions Hero, Yummy and Zant make based on us telling "Hey...you ******** up!" is their's to make as individuals but we should not let that fear stop us from making our voices heard if we are "having a bad time..." Just as a note, while I have said that (and do still support that idea), it's also a two way street: the participants have a right to bring up issues, complaints, criticisms, etc., with staff, but it's a two-way street. Hosting a tournament is a civil service, and it's done for free. That means that, while tournament hosts are held accountable to the participants, the participants are also held accountable to a certain degree of understanding regarding mistakes, ********, or what have you. Because it is a service, it is being done for free, and it does take both time and effort. Part of participating is being willing to speak up when there's issues, but to also know that staff are trying to handle s**t as best they can, so a little tact is necessary when bringing up complaints. To a degree, at least. If the mistakes are especially egregious or the people hosting the tournament are stepping over some serious ethical or behavioral boundaries, then a lot of that tact and courtesy can go out the window, imo. But if the staff is at least TRYING to listen and solve issues - even if they do get frustrated - then a bit of courtesy can (and should) go a long way because, hey, nobody gets paid to read our s**t and pat us on the head when we do good.

I'll work on the armor last, but those are ideas I will search and see if I can come up with something realistic. I'll end up getting commissioned art of her get-up after I find everything I need.

I would say you can commission me, but I only do cash stuff now. Cheap, mind you, but you can probably find someone decent for gold in the art forums. They can use the anatomy and design practice.

Your best bet really is to have pictures of armor, period. Look more for the armor that complements your character's fighting style, not the fact that she's a woman. That will give you the basic shape, even if it's on a man. Then just add space for tits, maybe slim down the shoulders/waist area, and bam! Woman armor. Seriously and simply put, armor is more about the sacrifice between movement and protection. There's more to it, but that's the very basic gist. Lighter armor like leather or modern-day kevlar or something, heavier armor like full plate, or something in the middle like mail. If you're talking purely in terms of style for the purposes of art, then yeah, that is a bit harder. I would second the notion that modern MMO games can serve as good references. Armor is becoming a lot more unisex in games, particularly heavy armor types.

I'm looking for light armor. Something that will defuse a blow to the side a bit but not restrict movement too much. Red relies on her small stature and agility.
Although this is going to be changing, as I have been disproved in the fact that I cannot solely rely on this.
I lost a spar with Hael because of this. I was going to lose anyways, but it was a big factor.

It's a tough call. In this tournament I'm rocking pretty much 0 armor besides a "1x cool leather jacket: it kind of helps a little." I think it's easy to argue a character's skill, agility, dexterity, and footwork can keep her alive 90% of the time, but you also risk giving others the perception that you will simply dodge or deflect everything. I personally think it's borderline permissible so long as you are reasonably descriptive in your actions, giving your opponent the opportunity to outmaneuver you instead of replying with something like "I twist my body and it glances off me" basically all the time. The other problem is this is Gaia. You cannot account for being able to take advantage of your superior movement all the time, or be able to rationally respond to any and all attacks. You can, will, and should get hit. So if you play a normal human with no armor, you're basically leaving it up to a 50/50 chance that something won't royally ******** you up for good reason. Given the kinds of powers thrown around in these tournaments, some degree of protection is pretty much necessary, natural or otherwise. I'm still pretty certain my character is going to get royally ******** at some point. I mean he had half his face practically burnt to a crisp already. I'm personally OK with that. But even from an IC standpoint it's because he's arrogant and doesn't really fear death in a meaningless fight. It's rational for any sane person to place much greater importance in their own protection in a world full of monsters and superpowers.
