Charlotte had to admit, she was a touch nervous. She was plenty used to heading off to school every September 1st, but not as Head Student. Logically speaking, it couldn’t be that much more responsibility, but it was more the principle than anything. However, she made sure to give no sign of her nerves. She didn’t want people not trusting in their Head Student. Plus, she had a grand ball to plan. She wasn’t about to let anything get in the way of that. She had this in the bag. She was sure of it. Though, she did squeeze her parents extra tightly when they started their goodbyes. However, her attention was drawn by another voice. She couldn’t help the tiniest gasp escaping her lips as she saw Everly drawing near them. It wasn’t like she hadn’t seen Evie plenty since she and Noah started dating, but she loved Everly. Who didn’t? It was impossible not to. And as if her mere presence weren’t enough, she brought gifts.
Charlotte gave a small squeal as Evie handed her the penguin in its tiny little scarf. It was absolutely perfect. She loved penguins and was a sucker for any sort of small clothing.“I will cherish him always,” she said in an overly dramatic voice before sneaking in a small hug to her, ideally, future sister-in-law. The gifts for her sisters were also perfect for them. Charlotte knew Amelia would get plenty of use of that BB-8 and Clara could always use an extra friend. “Thank you, Evie. You’re wonderful.”
As she was finishing up with her family and Everly, she noticed someone else approaching. A bright smile came onto her face as Bee greeted her. She couldn’t help but hug the boy. Braybrookes were huggers. “So excited,” she replied with a smile. “I have a notebook full of plans to discuss for the ball.” Her eyes were practically gleaming with excitement.
“I was so glad to hear you were the other Head Student this year. There are so few people in the school that are as bougie as I am,” Charlotte said in a teasing tone. Of course, so people had neither the kind of money nor background she did. There were certain benefits to the English Aristocracy. “I may or may not already have a gown picked out for the ball.”

Clara Braybrooke FIRST YEAR - UNSORTED
Clara was jittery with both nerves and excitement as the family drove to King’s Cross Station. She was starting Hogwarts. Finally. Which was kind of a crazy thought. Of course, she’d heard plenty about it with her mother and all her siblings attending, but actually going was something different. She was just glad her sisters would be there too. She only wished she’d been born earlier so Noah would still be at school too, but she’d manage.
Upon arriving at the station the family grabbed their luggage carts and made their way to Platform 9. Clara knew where they were going but this time she’d be getting on the train instead of just waving at it as it pulled away. Following her mother’s instructions, she pushed her cart after Charlotte and straight through the wall. Dad followed right behind her, thrilled as always with any magical experience, then Amelia and Mum appeared behind him.
Clara watched both her parents closely as they went over last minute notes, making sure nothing was forgotten and that all three girls were ready to go. Clara knew Amelia was anxious to be going back to school, she was every year, so she was gonna make sure she wasn’t alone so when Mum was finished talking to her, she slipped her hand in Amelia’s. Clara heard the sound of their name. “Evie!” She squealed as she saw Noah’s girlfriend. If he couldn’t be here, at least she was. She hugged her as soon as she was close enough. “Hi,” she said with a big smile. And as though this day were not already good enough, Evie had brought presents.
When Evie got to Clara, she let out a gasp as she handed her a little tauntaun. “How did you know?” She asked in a low, dramatic voice, seemingly very shocked. Though if she had really thought about it she’d figure that out pretty easily.
“I’m naming him Moochi,” she said, cuddling the plushie into herself.

Aurora arrived at the station at precisely 10:30. That gave her plenty of time to get to the 11:00 train, especially since she wasn’t dragging her parents along. They had both said goodbye to her this morning before loading her into the car that had been sent for her and heading to work. It was easier without them anyway.
Aurora pushed her cart of luggage just hearing the clicking of her heels over the din of the crowd. There was something surprisingly comforting about the sound. She was only twelve, but she loved a good stiletto. They made her feel powerful. Glancing around to make sure no muggles were paying attention, she pushed herself through the platform wall, right in time to see a girl in front of her crash to the ground. Aurora put a hand into her mouth in surprise. She walked forward, stopping just short of the girl's glasses. She stooped to pick them up, brushing them off on the edge of her robes. Aurora glanced over the girl. She seemed familiar, but didn't have a clue to what her name was. "You alright down there?" Aurora asked, staring down at her for a moment. Then she figured she should probably help her up. She bent her knees and offered her hand.

I like shinin', you be lyin' I be grindin', you waste time Know you wanna roll with me 'Cause you know I put it down When I show up, I'm the one and only
(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ Rosa felt weird about the start of the school year; it'd be the first time since she started that Lewis and the others wouldn't also be there. As much grief as she gave them, she really did enjoy their presence and had lowkey relied on the fact that she could just go up to Su's dorm whenever and bother them with her thoughts or sneak off into the Ravenclaw tower to "borrow" sweaters from her brother. She'd made sure to pack up enough of them so that she could switch out the next time she saw him, as well as the lavender blanket gifted from the other older teen. It wasn't even her OWL year yet but she felt like she was preparing for war! It probably had more to do with the fact that she, Mea, and Rey were now officially the Older Abrams at school and the ones that Wen and Bryn were going to be following after. From all her years of running around with her younger brother, Rosa thought it wouldn't feel any different but once the realization and the finality set it, so did the weight of *Responsibility*.
She had rolled her eyes as her dad went over his yearly check list, as if Mum hadn't already triple checked their luggage and manage to sneak in extra stuff. At the retainer comment though, she couldn't contain the very teenage groan that escaped her. "It wasn't my fault that it fell in the toilet, and there was no way on Earth or the entire solar system that I was putting that thing back in my mouth." Rosa groused disgustedly. While it was sad that her purple sparkly retainer had to be retired much too soon, her newer equally sparkly but now glow-in-the-dark retainer did its intended purpose, and could be easily located in a dark bathroom.
She was about to second Wen's question as to where the other half of their family was before the Heulwen's came hurrying over and her dad, of course, had to poke the bear remarking that they'd gotten there late. Rosa didn't even have to pretend to be embarrassed as she dramatically hung her head only bringing it back up to see Mea's signing and snickering as his words managed to come into fruition. "They're mental, the both of them. They act like they swam the English Channel to get here or something." she spoke and signed with a roll of her eyes. She noticed Mea fiddling with his hearing aides and figured he was just making sure he could still hear everything before they made it onto the train. That reminded her to check later for the extra batteries in her own luggage. It just worked better if everyone had a set for just in case purposes.
At Wen's exclamation, Rosa turned to see Su giving cutie Bryn his own chunky blanket and-deception. "I want a Bryn hug too! That's so not fair!" she huffed placing her hands on her hips causing both her mum and her Aunt Laili to laugh at her statement. "Don't worry, Rosa, I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity while you're at school." her aunt consoled her, still tittering.
Before she could respond, two other girls joined them with Rosa recognized one as Morwenna whom she grinned and waved at. "Oh cool, we've all got siblings starting this year! I'm Rosa by the way. Both of our little brothers over there are firsties too. " she gestured over towards Wen and Bryn, the latter who seemed to notice and looked over wide eyed with confusion. So friggen cute!

*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚Anaís braced herself as Clover seemed to vibrate with intensity before launching herself for a tight hug. She only hesitated for a second before she carefully wrapped her own arms around the other girl to reciprocate. This was...nice. Really really nice. Her mother's hugs had felt so stifling and somehow sharp, like even her comfort was harming, while her father's had been too brief. More for supposed duty than anything. Javi's hugs had been nice like this. Between thinking of her brother and hearing Clover's words-a vow almost-that she'd be there to give her any hugs whenever, Anaís was surprised to feel her eyes start to tear up.
When the hug broke, she hurriedly went to wipe her eyes, not wanting any to fall and embarrass herself in front of her new friend. She was also thankful for the turn in conversation, nodding eagerly at the suggestion to go and find a cabin while the platform began to fill. "We can probably find a really nice one since no one's paying attention yet." Anaís piped in helpfully, eyeing the crowds a bit cautiously. There was still a bit of time so there wasn't a stampede to run them over yet.

Jazz had spent the morning with their parents, helping dad make pancakes while mum made a fancy berry syrup and whipped cream. Once they had their big breakfast, they double checked packing, then made sure Mr Whiskers was lured into his crate. Mum packed his food shaker, then locked down the latches. A knock on the door sounded, with the school governor being there to transport Jazz to the platform. After another couple goodbye hugs, Jazz was apparated to the busy platform.
They dropped off their trunk, then went to search for a calm place to be. They did, however, hear a familiar voice. They looked over, seeing the familiar sight of Hattie scrambling about the floor. Just as Jazz got there, so did Aurora from their year. "O-oh Hattie, w-what ever will we d-do with you?" Jazz set down Mr Whiskers' crate, then helped Aurora make sure Hattie was back up to her feet. "A-and hi, Au-Aurora. It's n-nice to see you too!" They said, offering a gap-toothed grin toward her classmate.

Pàdraig looked over at Xeno when she said that it wasn't weird at all and said that, after the crazy summer, going back to school would bring him a sense of normalcy. He figured that that made sense, since it had been a crazy summer with a lot of changes. "It wasn't really stress, but it was different. There were a lot of things to adapt to. Like having a big family all of a sudden," he said with a grin, glancing over at Xeno again... his big sister now. Before she'd just been an older housemate and teammate, but now she was also his big sister. That was so crazy to him. Then a thought occurred to him and he grinned again. "You know, if I make the main team this year, Gryffindor will have two Knapps on the team. Wouldn't that be awesome?" The Knapps did have a tenacity to be tough Quidditch players and he was ready to live up to that name, especially since his choice position was beater. "I wonder were Poppy and Zoe are. They're my best friends and I want you to meet them if we can," he said, glancing around the platform for his best friends.

Everly was absolutely delighted to see the Braybrookes. Even if Noah was stuck at work, all the girls were wonderful too. They all deserved gifts, and Everly happened to love giving gifts. As she gave them out, she was nearly as excited as they were. Charlotte said she would cherish her penguin buddies. "I was really hoping you'd like his little scarf. I was really torn between it or little earmuffs," she admitted, giving the teen a hug. She loved how hug-happy their family was, especially since the Levys were too. "Aw, pshh. You're wonderful, Head Student Charlotte!"
She sent over a wave toward Bieito as he stole Charlotte's attention, while she turned back to the younger girls. Clara was just as excited, even giving Evie a big hug. These girls were just precious! When she was gifted her tauntaun, she asked how Everly had known, sounding a bit conspiratorial. "A certain capy-buddy told me." she whispered back, sending over a wink. Then she laughed when the youngest girl gave him a name, earning a gasp of surprise from Evie. "That is the most amazing name I've ever heard." She put her hands on her cheeks, conveying excitement.
"I just wanted to make sure you all had something lovey to take with you this year. I'm sure it'll be the most fun year ever, too." After all, fun was entirely relative. There were oodles of clubs and activities to do, so hopefully it would indeed be a grand old time.

Well, that was about on brand for Hattie, last year she'd made it all the way to the boats before falling and faceplanting into the wall. This year, the platform before the school year had even started. At least someone seemed to find her glasses before they could be smashed into oblivion. The girl was standing beside her and asked if she was alright down there. Hattie rubbed the bridge of her nose then sighed. "A've bin worse bit Ah dinnae think anything's goosed. Actually, Ah ken nothing's goosed. A've goosed enough bones in mah lee tae ken." Just as she was offering Hattie help up, the familiar voice of her best friend sounded, asking what they were to do with Hattie. "Och, awright thare Jazzy. Ah fell ower," Hattie said, as if it wasn't obvious. With Aurora and Jazzy's help, she got back to her feet, then accepted her glasses back from the blonde. She cleaned them with the fabric of her sleeve, then set them on her face. "A bawherr aff center, bit hee haw Ah cannae fix efter." Nodding, she glanced around, then added, "Cheers fur helping me up ye twa. Let's git oor trunks ower tae th' train." Hattie set the cart back upright and hoisted her trunk back onto the cart so that she could push it over to the loader. It was probably a good idea that she hadn't decided to bring Chippie with her and left him home with Mum, otherwise he might have been tossed off her cart in the accident.

Bieito grinned happily when Charlotte stepped over. She immediately went in for a hug, and he very happily reciprocated. He loved hugs, perhaps because he had grown up without many. She agreed that she was excited, then said she had a notebook full of plans. "Oh! Me too. I went absolutely wild. Milan even said he would offer discounts to students getting their fancy clothes there." Of course, Milan was likely just excited because they had a full staff and Bee had offered to help extra over winter break... but still.
Charlotte commented that she was excited that he'd been the other choice, given he was just as bougie as she. "Oh absolutely! I was delighted to see your name. We already know we work well together, so it'll be extra good. Besides, it's extra Hufflepuff pride!" He was extra excited because he was certain they would win the quidditch cup this year (now that a certain extra-tall seeker had graduated). If they could also manage the house cup, he'd consider it a pretty perfect year.
He grinned when she said she already had a dress picked out. "You already know you're going to have to show me. I'm sure it'll be lovely. I already reached out to Professor Azalea to make sure we would have plenty of flowers. Perhaps we could piece together an outdoor dancefloor, then host the dance in the moonlight? Oh, I have so many ideas!" He clapped his hands, a bright grin effortlessly showcasing his joy.

Clover was happy that Anaís had not only accepted her hug, but hugged her back. It was still troubling to her that she had said it had been a while since she'd been hugged, but Clover silently vowed to make sure she had tons of hugs. The girl had so many to go around, after all! Anaís also liked the idea of finding their way to a cabin so Clover led the way onto the train so that they could find the best seats. Anaís had been right that since everyone was so busy with their families, they could find the best cabin. There didn't seem to be anyone on the train yet. "Do you have a preference where we sit? If I remember correctly, the left side has the best view of the city as we leave, but the right side has the best view of Hogsmeade as we approach." Big brown eyes glanced between the cabins on the right and the cabins on the left, wondering which would be the best. The train went through a lot of the countryside, so both sides would offer good views of the greenery. She looked over to Anaís, a small smile on her lips. The half-nymph wanted to get her friend's opinion instead of just making a decision for them.

Róisín's summer had been an interesting one since learning she was a witch and would be going to a magical school. Her older sister Niamh was jealous about her magical ability and had refused to talk to her most of the summer. As it drew closer to time for her to head off to the school, her parents announced that the family would be taking a trip to London to see her off. After they dropped Ró off at the train station, the family was going to head back to Dublin. But first, they got to see all the sights and even ride the London Eye. On the morning of the travel day, Niamh apologized for being mean and hugged her sister, saying she would miss the middle child. Cillian also hugged Róisín and they held on to a weird sibling hug for a while. Finally Mum had said it was time to head out and they loaded into the rental car for the drive to the station. Dad was looking at the Hogwarts Letter again and commented that there wasn't a Platform 9¾, just Platforms 9 and 10. Róisín remembered the explanation that the Governor had given her then shared it once again with her family. There was a lot of "Are you sure"s and "That doesn't sound right"s, but Ró said she was sure.
Looking at the divider, Ró turned to her mum and said, "I changed my mind, Mum, I don't want to go." Tears had started to well in her eyes, which her Mum wiped away. "It's a big step, little Rose, I know. But you're going to love it. Remember how excited you were when you first found out?" Róisín sniffled and rubbed her nose on the sleeve of her jacket. She looked back at the divider then back to Mum. "But I'm gonna be all alone there," she protested, still feeling scared. "Róisín, you're the most friendly kid ever. You're going to make so many friends. Just be brave, okay Róró?" She sniffled again and Mum dabbed at her eyes with her shirt. "We'll see you at Christmas time, little Rose." Róisín nodded and bit her lip, then turned to the boundary. Closing her eyes, she ran at the boundary and when she opened them, she was on the magical platform. The girl glanced back to see her parents and wave goodbye, but there was only a boundary there. Swallowing hard, she pushed her cart over to where the others were, then stuffed her hands into her pockets. She was all alone now...
Racheal 'Rey' Eir Ross-Heulwen Hufflepuff │ Fourth Year │ Fourteen Years Old │ Single
Rey felt as though she’d run through the spin cycle in a washing machine, and when she was pulled out the whole summer was gone. It was already Departure Day, and they were being packed off to Hogwarts again. Sadly, it was minus Lewis, as he graduated and was playing for the Montrose Magpies now as their newest Seeker. She was confident the Magpies would never lose a match now, or, at very least they’d end the match with the Snitch in his hand, as the Eagles never lost a match while he helmed them. At least the Art Club remained in the hands of the family who birthed it as Rosa was Captain now, and she would bring her own spin on things.
The trip to California was amazing and was a treat and a celebration for the graduates, and Rey was entranced by all the lights and sounds, sometimes literally, which required the use of the noise-cancelling headphones she kept in her pack at all times, as well as a pair of glasses which polarized the light so it wouldn’t overload her senses. It was far too hot for the transplanted Irish girl accustomed to summers in the mid-twenties (not high thirties), and the sun too bright for a redhead who could get sunburnt almost on command, and way more people jostling about than she could deal with. However, she still had fun, and she collected a bunch of cool souvenirs, and some nice memories along the way.
Without Lewis was the startling revelation that she, Meallan and Rosa were now the senior members of the extended family at Hogwarts, and they’d be shepherding their younger siblings this year, Wen and Bryn specifically. It was the latter of them who concerned her most, as he needed to use Chabbit, his stuffed rabbit, to speak for him when the world got to be too much for him. Rey understood the sentiment, she had plenty of days where she wanted to just hide, but she was worried about well he would handle classes, and how he’d interact with his classmates, as she recalled how the kids were at her old Muggle school. She hoped he’d get Sorted into Hufflepuff, so the three of them could help him if he needed it.
The little redhead was trying hard to gather up a measure of excitement for the coming term, but it was hard sledding for her. She hadn’t been tapped to run any of the clubs she was part of, and she already knew she’d be ace benchwarmer on the Quidditch team (a position she was long accustomed to from her days at her old school, and at best she might start in the annual Spring Scrimmage. Rey honestly hadn’t expected anything else as she really hadn’t proved to anyone she was … well, particularly good at anything. She performed competently in her classes, but she was hardly being held up as an exemplar, and she didn’t lead anything in her clubs as others were always quicker to respond to the call than she. 'Take what you can get and be thankful,' she told herself. 'Yer a scratch n' dent, take as is, from a yard sale, and they all know it.'
Coming through the portal, Rey was hoping she might catch sight of Finn or maybe Ella or Alice, and as she was seeing little more than taller people in dark coloured clothing, she was glad she and Meallan were being escourted by Nani, as she wouldn’t get misplaced like the first time she came to the train station. She looked cute, dressed in a black Montrose pullover that hung down past her hips, paired with a short Hufflepuff plaid skirt, a pair of thick-soled black leather shoes with frilly little ankle socks. She had her school bag over one shoulder, to which a Magpie plushie was attached to, containing books to read, snacks for the train, and spare sets of batteries for Meallan’s hearing aids, while a cat carrier was over her other shoulder with Rosie safely inside.
While the parents were arguing over who had the honour of waiting the longest for everybody else, as she got close to Wen and Bryn, Rey eyed their snacks, and asked, “So, got anything good? I brought chocolate.” One time when she and Holly were alone in the old house, Rey tried making brownies. They didn’t come out right, as they flat and crunchy and they crumbled when she tried to cut them, however they did taste pretty good, so she figured out how she screwed up the recipe and now made them that way deliberately. The night before she made a large batch of her nameless concoction with miniature chocolate chips and mini-M&Ms in the batter, to share on the train.

Mea cringed over at Rosa when she noted she'd lost one retainer to the loo. Honestly though, he wouldn't put it back in his mouth either. "I still don't know how you managed that one, Rosa. But please take care of this one. We already have winter appointments for all four of you kids, so ya gotta make it that far." He said, only one tiny sigh at the end. Mea was pretty glad that his teeth were fine. Visiting the audiologist every few months was bad enough.
After admitting to being the reason the Heulwens were late, Rosa commented on their parents' feud. "Wait, you guys didn't have to swim the English Channel?" He sent over a grin, trying to tamp down on his giggles. Thankfully most of his cousins were always ready to sass, especially at the parents' expense. He looked up when Rosa stepped over to the younger boys, saying it wasn't fair that Bryn hugged Su. "It's okay! Hug comin' in!" Mea said, his voice a hair over loud as he stepped over to pull Rosa into a squeeze.
"No way! I want hugs too!" Wen said, pushing himself into the chaos. His other arm was open, for Bryn or Rey, either one. But from behind came the tallest possible hugger as well. As the hug grew, there was definitely a camera flash or two, before Mea offered up "I'm gettin' squished in here!" with a laugh as the hug disbanded. Mum was right. There were lots of chances for hugs at school too.
When Morwenna came over, she asked about summer, then introduced her sister, Tegan Tee. "It was fun! We went on vacation to California!" He spoke, moving his hands in tandem as he often did. Rosa said their brothers were both starting. "Yes! My brother is Bryn, and Rosa's brother is Wendel, or Wen." He noticed Wen's blue eyes looking around when he'd heard his name, before being distracted by something Rey said. "It's nice to meat you, Tea, my name is Meallan. This is Rosa, my cousin, and the redhead there is my sister, Rey." He figured he ought to give the incoming first year a bit of an introduction as well.

Gracious, his family was silly. Wen was delighted to have a cozy blanket from Su, plus more than a couple stuffies to keep him company. He'd never been away from his parents for more than a weekend, and even that was spent with family. How they expected him to go months without visiting was crazy! But they had all promised they would come whenever possible, which made things a teeny-teeeeeeny bit better. A group hug definitely didn't hurt either. "Su's blankets are extra warm and cozy too, Bryn. I think it's 'cause she maybe used magic somewhere." He eyeballed his older sibling, as if it were a conspiracy.
And when Rey hurried over to mention snacks, Wen looked quite excited. She brought chocolate! "Lessee, I got fruit snacks, granola bars, applesauce pouches, and also I stole some of Lewis' chocolates stash." He nodded, taking off his backpack to root through. When he peeked back up, he spotted his older brother sending him The Look™. The blonde blushed and offered over a sheepish grin. "Also I got lunch packed up. Apparently the train is like six whole hours long! And they only offer candy, but Mum said I needed 'sustenance', but I think that's mostly 'cause Dad and Lew both eat like ten meals a day." He giggled at that, but looked confused when dad knelt down to re-pack his now unpacked bag. "Wen, you can't just unpack everything, dude. The train's going to whistle any minute."
Dris ruffled his son's hair, pausing in his actions with the younger pushed in for a hug. "Any chance you can come with us? Or maybe pick me up on the weekends so I can come home?" Wen's voice was quiet, but loud enough for his dad as he wrapped his youngest in a big hug. "Wen, you're gonna have so much fun you're not going to realize how fast it goes. We can always be reached by letter and we'll come visit as often as we can. Just try to have fun and go to Rosa, Rey, or Mea if you get in a jam. They'll all make sure you're okay." He pulled back a bit, wiping away tears with his sleeve. Wen nodded, but still looked a bit unsure. As Dad stood up, Wen stepped around him to give Mum a hug too, figuring maybe she would have a better answer to his nerves.
