I haven't read The Tales of Beetle the Bard yet. I probably will at some point, but possibly not for a while. I wonder if the library has it.
Here's another topic for everyone: dog names. My family is getting another dog. She is a Bouvier des Flandres, and we will get her in about 2 months (born a few days ago). The Bouvier is a herding dog breed originating from an area called Flandres, which is located in parts of Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. Anyway, we need to think of a name. The name of the kennel (and therefore the dog's registered last name) is Bruinshire. We'd like something a bit unique but not too out of the box. Any ideas?

"Have you got a picture of it?!?" I just gotten me a dog about 3 weeks ago it's a mixture of puddle and boston terrier!! It looks/is more poodle, just has the color of a BT!!(Which is black with brown legs) I named her Tala, which means she-wolf!! Well what i'm trying to get at is what do you like?!?As in themes, and stuff!! Do you have any idea what you want to name it or are you just stumped?!?

Is there a particular sound or meaning you want for the name? When my family got our dog, we knew we definitely wanted something Hawaiian (having just moved from Hawaii back to the mainland), so we just perused a dictionary for short, one or two syllable words. We discarded Ko (sugarcane) because it was a male dog, but quickly found Koa (brave, warrior, strong...also the name of a prized wood in the islands).
Generally, you want something only one or two syllables long, as it's supposed to be easier for the dog to remember and recognize. Hard sounds are also supposed to be useful - the whole reason we started reading that dictionary at the 'K's.
So...if you're choosy or particular, there can be quite a bit that goes into picking a name for anything.

Don't have a picture yet. I'll try to post one when I do.
My brother and dad don't want something extremely girly, like Daisy, because they say they'd be embarrassed to call to the dog using a name like that. We'd like a name that means something, (though what exactly, I'm not sure) and sounds strong but still a female name. I really like the name Koa: what it means; how it sounds; that it's short, and not overused. Preferably also something not too long and DEFINITELY NOT a common human name (like Chloe, for example). Also not a name too similar to our last dog, Jessa. Possibly a Belgian, French, or Dutch name, because that's where the breed is from, or English because that's where my parents are from. Sorry for all the specifications. Hope it's not too specific or too general, and that it's useful. Thanks so much for the help. biggrin
Here's a picture I found online that looks somewhat like Jessa. She didn't have quite so much brown on her face, though, and the hair was a bit shorter between her eyes. (There's all different colors. Jessa was black brindle, which is black with some gray. The new puppy has roughly the same coloring.) Link to picture: Bouvier

Well, here are some female Dutch names I found: http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/dut_f.php - meanings included. The same website can give you a list of French female names, though they don't have a category for Belgian.
If that doesn't work, try looking for an online dictionary for one of those languages and browse for words.

I'm going to slide back to The Tales of Beedle the Bard (apologizes)
My favorite story in the book was The Fountain of Fair Fortunes too. I really like how it ends (doesn't want to ruin it for others who haven't read it).
