Kilik took a step back, digging his foot into the dirt. He clenched his fists, eyeing the Salamence with great distaste. It wasn't the fact of it's species, oh no. It was who it belonged to that disgusted him. He glanced over at Scizor and gulped. She had faced against one of Maorde's Pokemon before and the outcome was definately not what she had wanted. Then again, when two Steel-type Pokemon come to battle together, it's really who has the better defenses that comes out on top. Kilik then looked over at Nina. Was this going to be the time where they finally stop arguing and work together peacefully for once?
Giovanni had to restrain himself. Upon seeing the man in the flesh, every feeling of hate and sorrow flowed through his veins. It was almost like he was going to burst. The Rocket leader wanted nothing more than to knock the man to the ground and strangle him until he stopped moving. He looked at his Tyranitar, who in turn was growling deeply at the opposing Salamence. Giovanni could feel his heart pounding in his throat and the blood pulsing in his ears. The man took a step forward, his fists clenched tightly. So tight, in fact, that his knuckles were chalk white. He was shaking. He turned his attention to Mike. For the time being, they would work together.

"My, my. Such impudence that today's youth is displaying. What's becoming of the world? Tch..." The man sighed exaggeratedly, before letting out a little laugh. His eyes traveled over and locked with Giovanni's for a brief moment, but then he stepped back. "Well then, I suppose I should just kill off the lot of you and be done with it." Reaching for his belt, he snatched up the other five Pokeballs, tossing them out in rapid succession. His Pokemon were then revealed.
A Steelix appeared, slamming head head onto the ground once or twice. A few moments later, he was joined by Salamence. The two Pokemon glanced to Whitney and Raimundo, and stomped and slithered over towards them. Both trainers released their Pokemon, ready to fight, even though the odds already looked grim.
The second set of Pokemon appeared a second later. A Nidoking burst from its Pokeball, slamming its fists together and letting out a terrible screech. He was joined by an equally intimidating Metagross, and the pair found their targets in Mike and Giovanni.
And then, there was the third pair. Out of a Pokeball burst an Electabuzz, shooting electricity in every direction in a dazzling display of lights. This left the last Pokemon... Anna appeared, exploding out of her Pokeball in a black light. She and Electabuzz headed toward Kilik and Nina, hatred in their eyes. Krystal was released from her Ultra Ball, ready for whatever would come her way.
"Aaaaand... begin!"

Mike staggered backwards at the Pokemon that had been released. One of them he knew, the other, not so much. All I know is Metagross is part Steel, and that makes him my target! The boy shot a look to Giovanni. "I'll take the tank, you go for the purple dinosaur!" His voice was brimming with authority as he thrust his hand forward. "Nitro, let's start this off hot! Flamethrower!"
Before the boy could even finish his command the Pokemon had spread his massive wings. The now fully developed appendages reached out a good 9 feet from either side, lifting the dragon up with ease. Loosing a loud roar, Nitro shot up in the sky, blasting a cone of flames from his mouth straight for the Metagross.

"Don't you order me about, boy!" Giovanni snarled, swiping the air with his arm. "Tyranitar! Use Earthquake on that foolish beast!" he barked out. Tyranitar glared at Nidoking with bloodlust, running forward at the creature then jumping into the air, slamming his feet as hard as he could into the earth, shaking it violently. Tyranitar let out a roar so violent that saliva splattered out of his mouth.
Kilik looked over at Nina and nodded. "Nina, listen to me. I know that Anna is your Pokemon, but..." he glanced over at Tyranitar as it stomped on the ground to roar, "It'd be more strategic for Scizor to battle her. She resists more of her attacks than Krystal does," he looked at her with a smile, "However, this is your battle and as Anna is your Pokemon, you fight her. Electabuzz is mine." He gave her a thumbs up and turned to look at Scizor. "Scizor! Attack with Quick Attack!" The bug nodded, dashing forward at Electabuzz, her wings outstretched and her claws out in front of her, white light flowing behind her.

"My my, aren't we the strategists... But, not strategic enough. Nidoking, take that attack, and I want you and Taffy to use Earthtect! Go!"
It was evident that being struck by Earthquake had the potential to knock out many Pokemon, but Nidoking did as he was told. He stood his ground and didn't even attempt to dodge, but took the attack full-on. And it hurt, even for a Pokemon of his level. Taffy the Metagross was the Ground-attack's next target, but it found itself completely sheltered from both the Earthquake and the oncoming Flamethrower as it used Protect. Stomping on the ground a couple of times, the Nidoking cast a quick glance to the Metagross beside him, affirming that he was indeed shielded. Lifting up one of his feet, Nidoking slammed it down onto the ground with a terrible force; it cracked the land, and the Earthquake attack was shooting toward his opposition and his partner.
Maorde diverted his attention towards Kilik and Nina. "Electabuzz, loose a Thunderbolt on that bug! Zap it into oblivion! And, Anna... heh. Do the same! Give the Scizor no quarter!" Both Pokemon remained entirely silent as they felt electricity building up inside of their bodies. Every atom inside them were shaking at a terrific speed as the force was building up and building up to a greater power. When they were ready, the ghost and pseudo-catlike creature nearly exploded as the electricity left their bodies, converging in mid-air, headed straight for Scizor.
Nina stared in amazement. ...Anna could never do that when she was with me, she marveled. "Krystal! Do something about that-- restrain Electabuzz now! Don't let him attack like that again!" With no indication she acknowledged her trainer's command, the dragon sped forward, diving underneath the sparks that were flying in the air. She tightly wrapped her body around Electabuzz-- this could distract him, if nothing else. She hoped that Scizor would be able to dodge the attack that had already been launched.

Mike scrunched his face up, the defensive tactic reminded of his battle with Flannery and just how utterly painful the last match up between Nitro and Magu was. "Stupid Protect." He said under his breath. "Stupid Taffy." He hated the move with a burning passion, mainly because it just shattered his momentum. Mike battled with a certain flow, a rhythm he worked with. Attacks connected, that was the deal. Even if they didn't connect, it was only allowed to be because of some awesome circumstance like a dodge or creative barriers. His whole way of battling was to hit hard and not let one moment be stolen for his enemy to think. To be derailed so spectacularly, it just messed everything up, and pissed him off. "Well Nitro, if at first you don't succeed, try try again!" He ordered, hoping this one would actually make its mark.
Still mid flight, the Charizard beat his wings for some added lift as he built up another attack. As he took a deep breath in, he could feel the unbelievable heat churn and build in his lungs. The Charcoal around his neck shone as Nitro thrust his head downward and launched another fiery attack, hoping to melt that Metagross where it stood.

Giovanni took a step back, clenching his fists tightly. The move won't even scathe Nitro. Therefore... "Tyranitar! Use Protect!" he annouced, wincing at the fact he was going on the defensive. The Gym Leader glared daggers at Maorde as Tyranitar formed a shield around him, but it was a bit too late. He fell to his knees, roaring loudly as the Earthquake attack buckled him. He stood up again slowly, shaking. "Fine then! Attack Nidoking with Hyper Beam!!!" He felt his voice shaking. Tyranitar shivered and then opened his mouth, blasting a beam of light forward at his target.
"Scizor, no!!" Kilik cried out, bracing himself. His feet dug deeper into the dirt as a bright flash nearly blinded him. The massive Thunderbolt attack struck Scizor head on. She stopped dead in her tracks, the electricity flowing through her was so powerful that it lifted her a few inches from the ground. She focused as hard as she could then broke free of the thunder. Her armor was singed and cracked in many places. She resumed her attack, slamming into Electabuzz's torso, a lot weaker than previously hoped. Kilik bit his lower lip hard. Maybe if he had picked a different Pokemon, things would've turned out a bit different. He shook his head. He had to have complete faith in Scizor's strength.

Maorde simply grinned as he nodded to Nidoking. "You can do it. Hang in there." He turned to look at Taffy, he saw the impending danger-- this Flamethrower thing was already getting old, and it was just the second turn. "You can survive it!" he called. "Counter with Rock Slide!"
Nidoking was the first one forced to endure his attack. The Hyper Beam overtook his body with an unparalleled ferocity, and the Pokemon nearly barreled over. Giovanni's Pokemon were strong, there was no doubt, but he refused to give up already. Interestingly, however, Nidoking did not retaliate with an attack of his own-- instead, he used Helping Hand. Taffy, who felt the flames almost eating away at its body, was suffering terribly. It was unquestionable that another Flamethrower would do him in, so he seized the moment and put a great effort into his attack. Pounding and tearing at the ground, the Pokemon flung chunks of the earth at his opposition, his powers boosted from the help given to him by Nidoking.

Mike smirked, chuckling to himself. Unable to contain his giddiness, the boy erupted in laughter. "Such a shame to see an entire turn wasted," He said, a falsely sympathetic tone accompanying his biting arrogance. "I may be young, but I'm not stupid." His hand stretched upward, and the boy shouted an order to his Pokemon. "Nitro, Fly up and avoid it!" He couldn't ask for a better set up. It's just a shame that Giovanni wouldn't be able to take advantage of the situation. If only he hadn't used Hyper Beam, then he could have nailed em with another Earthquake. Snapping his fingers, Mike turned his attention to his Pokemon, who soared high above the battle.
Yes. Avoiding the large boulders rocketing in his direction would be a very good idea. Requiring no further persuasion, the Charizard dove down, using the speed from the dip to shoot himself higher upward, avoiding the assisted Rock Slide, but barely. At the apex of his flight, Nitro twirled and opened his wings, treading air so high up he had to squint to make out his targets. Looking closer, he scoped his opponents, deciding which one he would strike.

Tyranitar was breathing heavily. The damage he had sustained last turn, followed by the Hyper Beam, had really taken a lot out of him. He took a weak step forward, letting out a low roar. His eyes were staring daggers at Nidoking, every fiber of his being wanting to rip and tear into the creature and make it beg for mercy. He licked his jowels, his energy slowly beginning to restore after his few moments of rest. It would still be a few more minutes before he would have enough power to attack again.
Giovanni looked at Mike, then up at the sky at the orange dot that was Nitro. His hands clenched around nothing. Seeing the Charizard was somewhat like a ray of hope. It was the strongest Pokemon in battle at the moment (save for Maorde's and his own), and could mean the difference between victory and defeat. For a moment, Giovanni felt a quiver of gratitude towards the boy and the rest of the kids.
For a moment.

Ky was happy to see Bugsy in a better mood, though his guilt deepened when he heard that everything was repaired overnight. He hoped that there was still something he could do to help, though he couldn't really think of something to offer. "Umm... that Scyther that I fought is at the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy said he'd be okay," Ky added after M.A., not really sure what to say. Of course, he also wasn't sure if it was Bugsy's Pokemon or not (probably his gym's 'watch-dog' or something), but it seemed logical to assume so. It felt very awkward standing there at the door. All Ky really wanted to do at that point was to leave and go somewhere else, and it could probably be seen on his anxious face. Nevertheless, he wanted to make sure everything was cool with Bugsy. And who knows? Maybe M.A. would still want her gym battle now that the gym was close to completion. She didn't seem as enthused as Ky would have been, but he wasn't to be the judge of that. Chances are she was just as anxious as him.

Raising an eyebrow as he looked to the Charizard, Maorde remained silent, albeit for just a second or so. Well-planned defensive strategy, on both the part of the boy and the lizard, he thought. "Well, this leaves me with just one helpless target to attack now, doesn't it?! Nidoking, blast that Tyranitar with a Surf attack! Taffy, follow that up with a bone-shattering Brick Break attack! GO!" As Maorde pointed at Giovanni's Pokemon, Nidoking summoned up a wave of water, sending it shooting forward towards the opposition. It obviously wouldn't hurt Nitro, as he was currently airborne, but that mattered not. Taking care to avoid the mass of water, Taffy stomped forward, its front-right arm beginning to glow.
"And now, for the others." Turning to face the battle waged between his Pokemon and the team of Nina and Kilik, the man smirked, despite watching Electabuzz being subject to a slamming attack by Scizor, and a Wrap attack by Krystal. "Tsk tsk tsk!" he said. "I'll be having none of this. Electabuzz, use a Melting Punch! Hit that Dragon so it gets off of you, and smash that overgrown bug senseless! And Anna, I want you to unleash a full-force Psychic attack on that Dragonair once Electabuzz gets it off!"
What? What's a Melting Punch? Nina thought to herself, before watching the events unfold. Electabuzz was able to slip an arm free, and clenched his fist tightly together. Ice shards built up around it before he slammed it up and down and up and down and up and down again on Krystal's body until she couldn't stand the abuse anymore, and let go of the creature. The Ice Punch had seriously taken a toll on her, and it was only the first time she was struck. It was then that Electabuzz turned his attention back to Scizor-- the ice shards around his fist changed into small flames as he charged forward, prepped to strike.
I get it! Melting Punch-- Ice Punch and then a follow-up with Fire Punch!
Anna was glaring daggers at her former teammate. Her eyes were reduced to nothing but slivers as her own body began to glow in a dark purple-and-yellow aura, which was soon mirrored on Krystal's own body. With no warning, Anna used her psychic powers to fling the Dragon around, slamming her on the ground like a jackhammer. With a sinister grin, she finished her attack and let Krystal out of her grip.
But, of course, that wasn't the end. A terrible, swirling black light engulfed Anna's body and she became nothing more than a silhouette-- it looked as if she was evolving. But, how was that possible? Anna couldn't evolve, could she?
The answer was no. Anna wasn't evolving, but she was changing her form nonetheless. It didn't make sense, though!
Then, Nina recalled what she was previously informed of. Anna was somehow a descendant of one of Maorde's most valued Pokemon.
The black light dimmed, and a menacing Alakazam stood in Anna's wake.

"Yeah, I'm sure there's a Pokemon Center here somewhere," Kasiya nodded, feeling a bit better herself now that they were back on dry land once again. "There's a Pokemon Gym on this Island, so there must be one." She looked around for a few moments, then spotted a sign that had a large image of a Pokeball on it, as well as the letters "PC" and an arrow pointing in the proper direction. "Aha!" she giggled, pointing out the sign to Keegan. "Let's get going, then. Maybe we can get in some good training before dinner." She smiled at him once more and started to head in the general direction the sign indicated, quite content to walk along beside the redheaded trainer, hand in hand.
Her thoughts seemed to drift all over the place; at first she couldn't wait to see Helios again, and was glad that Keegan was getting him back, then she was suddenly quite excited about the gala, and exactly what such a fancy party would entail. Then she remembered (for the second time in about a minute) that there was a gym on this island, and she started to wonder if she would even stand a chance against the leader here. Her thoughts found their way back to Keegan though, and she blushed a little, feeling happier than she had in a long time as they wandered towards the Pokemon Center.

It was time to strike. While he felt a little bad about taking advantage of Giovanni's Tyranitar to stage an attack; whatever wins the fight over the bad guy right? While the two Pokemon were distracted, Nitro zeroed in on his target. Flapping his wings a few more times for some added lift, the Charizard shot downward, folding up his wings to speed up the descent. Smoke trailed from his flaming tail as the dragon let gravity do it's magic. About halfway into his dive, Nitro threw his body weight in a circular manner, causing the Pokemon to spiral at incredible speeds. Acting much like a bullet, Nitro's speed was incredible as he collided with the Nidoking.
The impact made a deafening burst of noise, and sent a shockwave of dust outward, causing Mike to cover his face. "He'll be feeling that one later!" Whether he referring to Nitro or the opposing Nidoking was something even he didn't know. The boy swiped his hand, hoping to eliminate some of the obstructing dirt cloud as to check on the condition of his Pokemon. I hope that move wasn't too much. He thought, a little worried.

Keegan gave Kasiya's hand a gentle squeeze, and smiled at her. "Lead the way," he said, now catching sight of the sign as well, and together they started across the island towards the small city. The words 'tropical paradise' were definitely an understatement when used to describe Cinnabar Island, as the temperature was warm and balmy, yet there were cool breezes wafting in from the ocean to keep things comfortable. The small, cobbled streets were lined with palm trees, and Keegan found himself constantly looking up at the volcano, mostly because it reminded him of home. After a few minutes of walking, he realized why he suddenly felt like the heat was crushing him, and he slipped out of his long, dark trench coat and also removed his long-sleeved, white shirt to reveal a light gray tee. Feeling much better, he placed the two clothing items in his backpack and continued to walk with Kasiya, only after he'd taken up her hand once again.
The Pokemon Center was easy to find, as it was usually located in a fairly central location due to the number of trainers in need of its services. This time it was he who lead Kasiya through the open doors, a little surprised to find that they weren't automatic; just propped open with brightly painted rocks to let the cool ocean breeze in. The few trainers inside were dressed in mostly summer attire, and some in swim wear, all of whom were sporting tans of various degrees. Some appeared to be just relaxing, others were chatting about what to do next, and a few boys, hanging onto large surfboards were chatting amiably about when the best chance to catch some waves would be. Keegan strolled up to the front desk and took a tray, placing his five Pokeballs and one Great Ball in the slots. He offered a tray to Kasiya while he handed his own Pokemon to the nurse for treatment, opting to make sure each one of them were feeling at their best.
