The dragonhealers find dragons willing to help. It's up to you whether or not the transfusion works or not; if the dragon does not survive the infection or the infection is caught too late, they could die. Recovery will still take likely a month after a successful transfusion as the dragon recuperates and is cleared to return to the Wings.
