"And your mother is absolutely right," Nadya smiled, still directing the girl up the stairs. "It's always a good idea to be prepared for anything that might be thrown at you in life."
Not that she was prepared: indeed, she knew for a fact that she wasn't at all prepared for the journey that she was about to undertake. Still, that wasn't going to stop her from doing what she could. After all, she thought as she rubbed her thumb absently against the ring on her third finger, Serenity would one day be her mother-in-law. To not do what she could to help her would be truly abominable.

Gion finished pouring and grinned at Yue.
Indeed, he signed as he took a seat at the head of the table. Twelve years here. How long has it been for you? Not long, from what I understand.

"Hmmm..." Yue murmured keeping a mental note of the time, "I'd say about six or seven months since the last time I've seen you, not even a year yet."
Not that Gion would be able to tell unless looking at Donovan or someone else who was supposedly human Yue mused. The family dyamanics had changed enough in the past several months.
Going where Nadya was leading her, Mia nodded, confident that she was prepared. Though she didn't know any magic quite yet, she knew how people worked (sort of). She knew she could play with their minds, which was just as good.

They reached the top of the stairs, and Nadya turned the girl down a corridor and towards an open door.
"In here," she said, leading her inside. Once in, she moved to the window and pulled the curtains closed. They were white and thin, and allowed light in while keeping prying eyes out. Not that anyone could see into the second-floor room, but just in case.
In one corner of the room was a metal bathing tub, filled about halfway with water that, while not quite steaming, was comfortably hot.
"By the way," Nadya commented, realizing suddenly that the girl had not been around during introductions; "my name is Nadya."

Gion nodded thoughtfully at Yue. He had expected something like that, as amazing as the idea was.
How have you been? he signed curiously. You look well. I trust the family is well, too?

Mia turned to the Nadya and bowed slightly as she was taught, "I'm Mia," she replied in turn, "It's a pleasure to meet you."
She paused looking up at Nadya before looking at the tub full of water, that was quite quick.
"Quite well," Yue nodded in agreement, "The family continues to grow as usual."
Though most of it now was because of Elnara, though mother had also adopted once more.
"And yourself?"

Nadya smiled warmly. "I'm very pleased to meet you, Mia," she murmured.
She gestured towards a cupboard in one corner of the room. "In there are towels, clothes, and soap," she told the child. "Use whatever you need."
She paused, looking back at the child once more. "Is there anything else that you might need?" she asked hesitantly.

Gion grinned widely, a surge of pride pulsing through his body.
I'm getting married, he signed eagerly, his hands fingers flickering quickly. We haven't set a date yet, she insisted we wait for after this journey to make plans - but hopefully not too long afterwards.
His eyes were dancing, bright with excitement as he shared the good news with his friend.

Elrohir, who had been "listening in" on the conversation, froze in shock. Gion? Married? To Nadya, obviously, from the way they had been standing outside. But ... still! It was Gion! Look at his Nick-name, the Child Warrior! He was-
Elrohir broke off his thought. No matter how young Gion appeared, how small he was, he was well into adulthood.
Still, the idea that he and Nadya were going to be married ... was a shock. To Elrohir, Gion was and would always be his kid brother.

Yue smiled generously at Gion, he was glad that the man whom had thought all those years ago he would not settle down to have a family had found someone. Though he didn't know Nadya, he was certain that she was fine person.
"That's wonderful news," he replied, "Indeed, hopefully it will not be too long after this."
He didn't know how long a wedding took to plan, he never had one.
Mia shook her head, "No, there is nothing else I need," she replied softly.

Nadya smiled down at the child. "Then I'll leave you now. When you are ready, we'll all be in the kitchen, I'm sure. It's down the stairs, to your left - the only doorway in the room. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding us."
She moved towards the door and waved faintly before leaving the room, closing the door tightly behind herself. There was no lock on the door - but no lock was needed. If the door was closed, the room was ocupied.

Gion smiled proudly and leaned back in his chair comfortably.
So when do you plan on leaving? he signed, becoming slightly more serious once again, ignoring his brother's reaction completely - though it hadn't gone beyond his notice.
I mean for the trip, he added quickly. I'm sure you're anxious to get started, and Nadya's been prepared for a while already - she knew you were coming, though not when.

"Tomorrow if we can," Triton was the one to speak up about this, "We're not sure how far that we'll need to travel, and even with the time difference no one wants to be gone for more than a day our time, day and a half is pushing it."
If it weren't for the time difference he wouldn't have been able to get Yue here.

"A day and a half will be fine Triton," Donovan told the boy folding his fingers over his stomach, "It would just be a very long time here that is all. I'm sure Kara and the rest of the family can keep together for a day and a half."
Well he wasn't sure about Jaseth, the poor guy, but he was sure things would be just fine.

"Either way..." Yue added, "Tomorrow we should, it's going to be a long hunt I think. Not one of them is mad enough to stay this close to a city or planation of elves unless there is a hit to be had," he murmured, "Not with the desert being like this, so farther we'll probably have to go...."
With the door closed behind her Mia stripped herself of her clothes before stepping in carefully. Giving Alice a good dunking, because she needed it.
