Supreme_Overlord I'm not so sure if this is a refrence but here goes... I was on TokyoPop Manga's website, and there was a manga called, A Midnight Opera... HHMM. Anywho, the main character's name is Leroux... HMMM. xD Obviosly inspired fan. http://www.tokyopop.com/dbpage.php?page=product&productid=3627You know... I would read it just because it's just a bit Poto influenced. Even if the storyline is different rofl xD I saw that in my bookstore. I spazzed at all my friends online when I came back. xP

It's got a jewel thief and his Arabian partner and a French guy in it. X3

It was so odd...last week(was forgetful and didn't post that day). I woke up for school at the ungodly hour of 6 a.m.
Went and popped breakfast in the toaster, and was thinking about Phantom for some unknown reason, specifically Phantom of the Paradise.
So, I turn on the TV to watch a movie while I get ready, and lo and behold, Phantom of the Paradise is on. I kinda fell out of my chair and was like WTF that's scary. Oo *mental emoticon abuse*
Now I want to see it all the way through, because Winslow has a smexy electronic voice at times....
Edit: Wait, this might not be a reference....maybe coincidence...drats.

I'm not sure but this sounded like it. I was reading the book "A Dirty Job" and the guy was running a thrift store and someone came in (I think it was a truant officer) and she wanted to buy this statuet of a frog with a hoe and the guy didn't want to sell it to her for reasons important to the book but in a panic he's all "Wouldn't you prefer something in the way of a monkey playing the cymbals? Ray! Show this lady a monkey playing the cymbals." something along those lines.

Back during the era of boy bands, the Backstreet Boys released a music video for their song "Backstreet's Back". It was released asround Halloween, I believe, and all the guys were pop culture monters and/or villians. A.J. was...Erik. The one of teh first shots of A.J. is him playing piano with burn marks and a white mask on his face. I remember this only because I Love the 90's on VH1 jogged my memory.

I saw an actual reference to Phantom on Family Guy last Sunday, Lois and Peter were watching the musical and Peter was all "hey. HEY! comeon, let's see the gross part of your face." Something like that. xd I lolled a bit.

Around October of last year, I read a manga from my school library called "The Opera House Murders." It was directly related to PoTO, in fact, for it was about a school drama club that was going to perform the play for a drama festival or something. So they went on training camp to this island with an opera house, and at the place occurred several murders linked to the murders in PoTO, like one person being hanged, and something falling on another person (only it was a stage light instead of a chandelier in the manga). The murderer was also dressed in the Phantom's costume with the mask and all, so that was awesome. ^_^

I miss the TV show. It was cool, even if no episode was scary. And you gotta know back then the CG effects were crappy. XD

Show on PBS called Wishbone about a dog who connected his life to books. And they had to wrap up the PotO plot in 30 minutes. That was my first introduction to the Phantom. And I'm pretty sure they did something to the effect of Phantom of the Auditorium in Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Another seemingly Phantomish thing was at the end Charlie went down into the sewers to rescue his wife's soul... it seemed Phantomy to me...
