Kali clambered down to stand beside Brian. "A paperclip and a grappling hook huh?" She said, staring at the grate with her hands on her hips. "Well, you could just give the rope a big ole yank and hope it rips the grate off, however that still leaves the hazard of you falling to your death when it breaks free." She said cheerily, and looked at the screws. "These pointy ends are too, well, pointy to substitute a flat head screwdriver too." She poked it with one finger, stabbing herself by accident. "Ow ********!" She swore, stuffing her finger in her mouth and glaring at the hook. "Thdoopid thin.." She muttered, her finger in her mouth muffling her speech. She took it out and waved it in the air, then looked at the paper clip. "Hey Brian, lemme see that..." She said, and took it from him before he could answer. Maybe it could work as a screwdriver...The end could just be flattened with a simple squish of your fingers... She took it, and bent it to suit her purpose. Then, she attempted to make it work like a screwdriver. However, it didn't budge. Being stubborn, she would keep trying anything to get the paperclip to turn the screw. 'Maybe I could help it along...' she thought, and stuck her hand in the wall. Maybe she could grab ahold of the screw's other end and twist it free with the paperclip to help her....

Slowly but painfully, it began to work! Eventually, the first screw was off! Better yet, her phantom limb felt no pain gripping the screw's end. It was almost a flawless plan, and for the first time so far, Brian was completely speechless. Which was excellent. No stupid comments, stepping on ideas or vain remarks. Just silence...
Time for the other screws...

Kali chewed her lip as she attempted to get the other screws out, twisting as best she could. It was, after all, only a paper clip and a phantom limb...Although, the silence that had come over Brian was great!

One screw came out, but it took a lot of effort and wrenched the paperclip into near distortion. There was no way she could use it again. Taking this opportunity to show some...muscle, Brian nudged his way into the little project.
"Alright, you've had your fun. Time to let a man do the work..."
Grabbing the grate hard, he flexed unnecessary muscles as he pulled then pushed down with all his might, trying to snap the bottom two screws...
Whew...this was harder than he'd thought...

"mmhmm?" Kali raised an eyebrow and crossed her arm, snickering as he struggled to rip it off. "Well Mr.Man, how is you're muscle filled plan working?" She giggled, waiting for him to fail miserably. Yes, she was horrible...

It worked just fine, thank you. With a perfect "snap", the grate finally came off. In complete euphoria, Brian hurled it down the shaft, with way too much force, throwing him off balance. Squealing like a girl, he grabbed a cable and held tight, squeezing his eyes shut. After about 30 seconds of complete fear, he opened his eyes and shrugged it off.
"Good reflexes, huh?"
He picked up the olive-colored pack and slung it over his shoulder, stepping back out onto the rung. With an air of adventure, excitement, and pure cheesiness, he eyed his team, asking the all-important question:
"Well, guys, are you ready?"
Okay, so he didn't deliver it right...but it was still important!

"Ready like a shoe shine man with a runny nose on the Fourth of July!" Spaz replied enthusiastically, breaking into an impromptu moonwalking session for reasons far too complicated to go into here. Let's just say that Billy Jean is not his lover, she's just a girl that thinks Spaz is the one.
But the kid is not his son.
"Ee-hee-hee!"

"I've been ready since I got here. Nice scream by the way." She snickered at him, grinning. "I haven't heard anyone scream like that since I was last with my baby cousin! Oh, by the way, she's a girl. But let's go, come on come on this place gives me the creeps!" She gave a little shudder to prove her point.

"Okay then...it's settled."
Brian cautiously peered into the black chamber. Looked safe enough...
One limb at a time, he eventually crawled in the dark shaft...
Damn. Couldn't see a thing. Looks like he would be travelling blind for a bit...calling back to his teammates, he relayed the message.
"Guys...uh, it looks like there's not gonna be much light, so...we're going to have to stay really close to each other. I'm gonna go up just enough distance to let you guys all file in behind me. Then, we'll be on our way."

Ezriel lay on the floor, still weary from having his mind probed into. What the Hells did the old man find? Ezriel began to give in to his mind and body's urge for more rest. Slowly, his eyes closed...and his mind drifted off the shore of reality.
MOTHER! I didn't mean to...yes I did. I love you. youdeservedthisyoulittlebitch I never...oh God. The crimson rivers. They're flowing from your lifeless body...what did I do? I am at peace...but I am in Hell. Before Ezriel, in his mind, he saw the pale body of a woman, drained of the necter of life. Maddened He reached forth and placed his hands in the blood. He had lost it. He found comfort in the warm blood. Yet being alone...Ezriel comforted himself in the arms of the deceased.
Why...whywhywhywhy... My blessing is my curse. Mother, you are always here with me. If only there were penence. If only you could live. I need you...I need you to guide me again. You were right...I can't run my own life. I'll never be able to do anything by myself. Ihopeyourrottinginsatansbowelsforalleternity But...you're here...with me.
Ezriel's mind continued to run along in it's fast-paced manner. His dreams had never been restful. Not since he layed his mother to rest. I must pay for what I've done...I must go through my judgement. I'll spend my life in confinement, I'll make up for what I've done...
Ezriel twitched in his slumber and eventually awoke. "My Hell...my Hell is not to be here. I must carry my burden, that is my penence. But you are with me, mother. You make it worth living. I must get out. I must live for my mother. I must carry on as I would have. For mother's sake. I'll die a free man." One thing Ezriel did not remember from his childhood...the rest of his family. Or...well, anything but mother. Had his deed traumatized him? Who was his father? Did he have siblings. Doesn't matter. "I must live in mother's place."
Ezriel looked all around the room for any type of details he could exploit. Especially something like a light fixture...or a windo in the door...
(didn't come out as I had hoped. I suck...hard)

"Alright get your big buttox movin' then, I want in." she hopped up and down, looking around boredly. When he did crawl in further, she slipped in behind him and moved up so Spaz could come after them.

"What the hell was that?" Stay calm, just stay calm, just... no, going ballistic right now would probably a really good thing. At least in her frenzy she might hit something that could release them. Maybe there was a button, or something, that would open the doors, or something else. This just could not be their only option- suffocation. She frantically began to search the buttons, pressing them all and watching as they failed to light. Something had to be among them. Anything to get them out. Anything.

"Hehehe, hahaha!" Spaz laughed like... well, like a spaz as he crawled into the vent after Kali. Already adept at walking on all-fours, he felt quite comfortable in the enclosed space. Scuttling along in the dark, he accidentally bumped his head against Kali's butt.
"Oops, sorry. Heheh."

Meanwhile, Skip was looking about himself confused. Yep, there was no doubt about it: he had heard the voice of the British man. That was twice that this had happened since he died, and Skip knew that normally dead people don't keep talking, even if they weren't really people to begin with. Or did they? Skip remembered that the last time he heard the British man's voice, it helped him out, and this time it had to do with Emerald. Now, what was it the British man had said? Luna? What was Luna... wait, could it be...? Skip turned to Vixen, and said, in a completely unrelated matter to what she was concerned about, "Hey, Vixen, what's the name of that loud screamy thing in your bracelet?"

Quite frankly, Vixen was perplexed. Why on earth did Skip want to know what her siren's name was? It was actually quite odd, if a bit irrational to her. Oh, well. If he wanted to know, then she should tell him. Then maybe he'll help her find a way out. They had already discussed the matter of what should happen should they stay in the locked elevator.
"It's Luna. Why do you ask?"
The last part had slipped out. Vixen really hadn't meant to ask. She thought she did not care. Yet, curiosity was getting the better of her. Hey, curiosity is what started this whole adventure. If she would have never looked under that pristine table, she would have never found Ellisent. There was a downfall to that. Without Ellisent she would have never found her powers. She would never let that resentment go, as long as she lived. She might not be living much longer.
