O.o! more than a thousand a month? What kinda work is that???

I'm lucky if I get $600 a month, but then again, I work part time..... sweatdrop My parents are wonderful enough to let me live at home while going to school, so all I really need to pay for is food, gas, and recreation. 3nodding

^.^ I lose track of my thought all the time...just remember, I'm rooting for you! *salutes you, then goes off to pray some more.* NEVER underestimate the power of prayer, even if you don't belive, it's been proven again and again so many times, you have to admit there's something there. 3nodding I mean, I can walk again, right? blaugh

...my grandpa didn't survive it....

Yup~! When I was 12 years old, I was dancing down a hallway, and I broke my ankle up really bad when I didn't quite land a spin/leap correctly. (btw, I quit dance before that happend anyway, I never really liked it.) It was christmas eve, too, go figure right? My mom had quit her job so she wouldn't have to be in the hospital christmas, and here she was with me on christmas eve! blaugh Anyway, the doctor told me it was a bad sprain, and for the next 2 years, I spent about 85% of my time on crutches, "re-spraining" my ankle a week or so after getting off the crutches....I have a -very- respectable ankle brace collection at home. 3nodding It got to the point where I couldn't walk without bad pain in my ankle, and it was always getting turned and always hurting, and it was always extreemly swollen. About 2 years after the injury, and about 20 doctores later, my mom managed to get me to a specialist who did an extensive x-ray, and as it turns out, I had no tendons or ligaments left on the outside of my ankle, there was tons of torn tissue, bone fragments, and scar tissue. They did surgery, but while I stopped injuring it afterwards, it still hurt and I couldn't run without pain...but after a lot of prayer, I can not only run (when I feel like it. >.<) I'm confident enough to pick up fighting teqneeks that use the feet again. *nodds* I'm searching for a good sensei who dosn't charge $100 a month, but around here, that's hard to find. >.<

sweatdrop sorry...I always seem to go into stories, don't I?

Thanks. ^.^ I was looking into aikido....But now that I've lost most of my respect for my mentor, I'm going to let karate come to mind. He said it was a foolish style, but then, he lied about everything else, so I'm going to check into it. sweatdrop right now, I'd be happy with a female defence class...just SOMETHING to let me use my body in an agresive manner!

*pokes her belly* I"m getting all soft and fluffy....>.<

that is a really great story! well i mean im sorry that you got hurt, btu its so great htta ur better now...and AIKIDO! my master in kempo- the martial arts i take, which btw i am in love with, also taches aikido at he same dojo. and im thinking of starting it. its not foolish, its passive. which basically means you don't learn so many obvious like "street" moves. but you focus on learnnig how to fall and roll so you don't hurt yourself. and on locks and holds and grabs. they work on grappling (fighting from the ground, like on top of each otehr and stuff which is good) and other stuff..they don't rally have punches and kicks, but they do have blocks and such and they work a lot with takedowns (throws, sweeps, etc..) persoanlly i think it could be really effective, btu it takes a long timeto move up in ranks, and it isn't as fast paced. and its hard, so itll takea while before you may feel good at it. they also practice weapons (like the staff and stuff) but the kempo students who also take aikido always have advantages when we go into practing locks and holds and grabs, its fun to watch them. um...there was something else I wanted to say, btu i cant rememerb it. oh yes, its also a japanese martial art. if you know the differences between chinese and japanese and such. and also its a relatively new martial art. so..thats all teh info i have. mind you ive never really practiced it, ive just seen it, althoguh my master does incoporate some aikido in class sometimes. basically i thnk you SHOULD look into it. 3nodding

*breaks down crying* Sorry...any time I find someone who's takeing martial arts, they don't leave me until I"ve squeezed some bit of knowlage from them.....some move, lock, termanology, somthing! but on the net, you can't take my hands and show me anything!

See...I've never been alowed formal training in martial arts...a ton of other arts, but never martial. My mom's convinced that if I learn how to fight properly, I"ll kill someone...and now there isn't any place in my town to take it! And in the town my school's in, they charge $100 a month at lowest for any dojo....what does your dojo charge?
PostPosted: Wed Feb 16, 2005 7:39 pm

oh! iwish i could jump throguh the screen and show you! i firmly beleive that every woman in particular should ahve some basic understanding of martial arts. preferably more. my sensei- who is gonig to be my masters wife in october (sop cute) was actually attacked- someone tried to rob her, and she defended herself, and now she's fine, bu tshe appreciates it all teh more, and it was such a simple thing, that im even more determined to get my black belt and continue.

but you question- its 60 dollars a month, for class once a week.
80 dollars a month for twice a week or more. for my rank- there are four possible clasees, and i go to as many as i possibly can, so its actually not a bad deal, it was teh cheapest place in my region, plus my mster is a 7th degree- hes good, my sensei is a 4th, and this ohter new sensei is a 3rd, adn they're all rally nice, so it amkes it worth it.

itghink the best advice i could give you is to find 1. a style you like. btu even more importantly, a teach yopu like. it ameks all teh difference in the world 3nodding

( sorry...i kind of...babble a littel when it comes to karate. redface )
