Yeah, we were supposed to get snow on Thursday night, but it never came. Of course, folks have also been telling me to expect snow sometime on Sunday as well, and that it'll be a major storm, so who knows. I like snow. It somehow makes the wind easier to take (and in South Dakota, we have a lot of wind).
So.. I gave my cats treats on Thanksgiving, which basically consisted of a tin of soft food for each of them, when they normally split one every week. But ever since Friday morning, one of my cats has been acting like he's in pain or something. He hasn't touched food or water. He spent all of yesterday sitting in one of my reclining chairs, and by the end of the day the seat was covered in urine because ... well, I guess he just woldn't get up? And today he's been making definite angry noises - neither of my cats growl except for when they're playfighting with each other, and they NEVER hiss.. and Banshee's been doing both.
I'm kind of freaked out by this. Unfortunately, I can't afford to take him to the vet!

Kitty update:
So I can afford to take him to the vet. He's got an obstructed bladder, which means he can't pee. If it gets into his bloodstream... Let's just say not cool. For the moment, it looks as though the most I'll have to pay is about $325, the lowest about a hundred less. So it's not so bad.
But, as with all things, we'll see. We'll see.

that happened to two of my cats dear. One...well we didn't catch it in time sadly. The other would up staying at the vet for a week and had to have surgery to correct the proble. He is fine now...noisy as ever. I am sure everything will turn out fine. Ask your vet if you can pay in segments...ours let us do that. Sure it took about two months to pay it off but it was worth keeping that cat.

It saddens me that "fixing" a pet is more expensive than getting a new pet.
And we had snow over the past two days, along with rain, storms and hail. On Friday, people were in traffic jams for over 6 hours, with no where to go. sweatdrop Everyone was kind of caught by surprise by the sudden weather change.
Now its just cold, but its dry and the sun was shining earlier. . .I hate the winter, maybe one day I'll move to the south, if all my friends abandon me or something. Which is not gonna happen if I judge them right, so I'll just be another grumpy dutchman always complaining about the weather. razz

Got a call from the vet this morning. Banshee's doing ok.
It's currently raining. I may have forgotten some important details, but if I'm not mistaken, it's late November in South Dakota. And I haven't heard anything about any weird El Nino things cropping up lately, so why oh why is it raining?

Heh, it just rained, then snowed here. Nothing ever shuts down here though. Ever.
About 2-3 years back, temperatures were -10゜F, with a windshield of about 15 MPH...
School was not cancelled.
IT WAS PAINFUL COLD, I TELL YOU.

Heh, we got snow too. And it shut down most of the state. There are areas - city and town areas - that have been without power for the last three days, and still haven't gotten it. It's snowing right now, but Brookings has been lucky and so the only thing that shut down of notice were the schools, and a lot of businesses early. =P
Two hundred and fifty dollars later, Banshee is back home, and doing well. Because he had a catheter in him for some time, and the fact that his bladder stretched, he's having some bladder control issues, but it's just that he's leaking every now and then. So at times like right now, when I'm sitting at the computer with him on my lap, I've got a towel on my lap as well so he doesn't leak on my pants.
Unfortunately, ever since he's gotten back, my other cat Kiki has gone psycho. She hisses at the both of us, especially any time he comes near to her, and growls, and I think has barely eaten anything. I even put down some catnip last night, which they both love, and she hasn't touched it. I really hope this passes, because her growling and hissing is really getting on my nerves, and it's only stressing Banshee out more, which may cause him to re-block. =(

TeaParty eek scary lil kittie that thing is..... maybe somethings wrong with her too, or she's just reacting to the new smells banshees brought with him??? The vet said it's actually pretty normal... new smells, new behaviors, a break in the routine. It should pass in a few days, she said. Frankly, when I got Banshee home from the vet and got a whiff of him, he smelled so strongly of "vet" and "sterile" stuff, even I had to admit he smelled a little scary. Still snowing, rah. Not decent, fluffy, wet snow, but small, hard, dry snow. But it's snow.
