I...really don't like him... X_X sometimes I think i'm the only one on the planet who can't stand him.
His first album was interesting...but his subsequent stuff was not so good. Then he started to be played up as an icon more than a musician.
I think he's either better off being just a model or just a musician and not both at once. It's like...he appears in magazines with multi page features even when he hasn't put out anything new in a while.
Meanwhile other bands aren't getting the attention they deserve.
He's over promoted I think and doesn't put out the kind of caliber work that warrants that. A lot of spectacle but little else.

And I dont think he can sing ^_^;; He can play the guitar, although it also seems he's doing less and less of that and just posing for magazines now. That's why I'm not too fond of him.

Miyavi's a fantastic guitarist. His voice is different, and he's got a crazy style [both musically and fashion-wise]. Plus, he's a spaz. xD
I think that's what I like best about Miyavi. ^^

Well, it's not like he has all the time in the world. His agents probably tell him he has to this and that to keep his image up and all that stuff. Besides, right now he is (or was) in the US learning new styles or something like that for the guitar.

I dislike PSCompany's beaureaucratic, money-hungry practices in general, and Miyavi's fans are rabid for the wrong reasons. I'm SURE PSC is encouraging him to spread himself so thin and make him hyper exposed because little fangirls are gaga for him and he'l make them money.

Even though I love Miyavi, I do have to agree with Sai-kun. I liked him better during his indies and Miyavizm era. He's a little too poppish now which makes me a little sad.
Though, I always thought it was Universal Japan pulling the strings because it's a major label unlike PSC company (which is an indies label). I don't know.
I like Miyavi for him and his music, just not the direction his music is going through now. sweatdrop

Which makes me sad because Kagrra is affiliated with them. PSC makes VK commercial, they know how much money they can make with VK fangirls, so they market and hype 'til kingdom come and oftentimes the quality of the music and artistry suffers for it because PSC wants to market a product and not necessarily a band that stretches creatively. Look at Gazette...super flashy, highly polished and produced, pyrotechnics at every live, but everything about them speaks of a commercial product...it seems ingenuine at times, which is unfortunate because Gazette does have talent, its just pushed, pulled and molded in the wrong ways. Their music ends up taking a back seat. As long as the boys look good, as long as there are shiny shiny videos to watch, as long as you can work the fangirls up into a squealing tizzy, that's all that seems to matter. PSC gives VK a bad rap...then again the genre is aging and it has developed into this incestuous, inbred, dog-eat-dog kind of industry and PSC is just riding the current trend, ne. I still don't like what they do to their big headliners like Gazette and Miyavi...

I hate it when companies like that make really good artists into something they weren't originally. They just want money. Like you said. Haha, at least I learned something today.

That's just my opinion (not fact ^_^; ) from what I've seen from PSC from when they started to where they are today. Their big headliners are all flash and no substance these days. They seemed daring back then, to invest and push indie VK bands, but now they've just become another corporate entity. Take Nightmare and Gazette for example. Almost same format, style, etc and obviously carefully engineered and marketed entities. Both are pretty big names on their respective labels (Nightmare on Crown Nippon, the same label as Gackt and Gazette on PSC). Gazette's production values are ridonkulously high on their discs and vids and lives. Nightmare isn't half bad either because Crown is a major label. But from what I see, I feel Nightmare is far more genuine. Their musicianship is obviously very solid, even if they're total doofs and even if I don't like all of their music. It's obvious they enjoy what they do, its obvious they do it on their own terms and Crown has the courtesy to let them. I mean hell...Crown let's them run with Sendai Kamotsu! They are an immensly entertaining and loveable band because of how much passion is evident in their work. (They also have variety going for them, their style bounces from enka, to blues and swing, to metal, to pop rock, etc. but that's for another post in another thread) Gazette on the other hand, while theyre playing arenas that can house severall thousand, can't fill the stage for crap. I find their music kinda shallow. They have a headbopping hook or riff now and then, but they somehow always manage to come off kinda gimmicky, like management is trying WAY to hard to make them fit their genre. Most of the time their vids and lives are busy showcasing their voguing and mugging and the music is just kinda...bland. Most of the time when they pop up on my winamp playlist, I forget they're on, its just that unremarkable without their readily recognizeable appearances to bolster them. Yeah, visual kei is about looks as much as sound, but a visual kei band is not memorable without the music. The best VK bands stand the test of time and scrutiny much better if they solid musical and performance skills. Look at D...ALL the members have run the fiery gauntlet of the gritty underbelly of the indie VK world for years and years. They have Aioria and S to M and SYNDROME under their belts. They havent forgone their extravagant looks all these years, nor have they gone major or anything, but they put out well-crafted music that keeps them from being more than a tiresome gimmick.

Looking the same, sounding the same... looks like some Japanese companies jumped on the bandwagon with a lot of American companies in that respect. ):
I like that PSC will promote their artists to hell and back, but they need to let their artists do their own thing too. If I were on their label, I'd see a bit of a dilemma. On one hand, I'd have all the coverage I could ever want and more, but on the other hand, the company might have me be a sellout in order to maintain that coverage. I could see that being the case with Gazette. -shrugs.-

I heard he`s having a concert in L.A. on May 25th. He`s going to perform with other bands such as Alice Nine, MUCC, etc. My friends and I are planning to go since my friend`s dad works in L.A.
[[Hopefully there`s no age limits and my parents will let me]]
