I want to come up with an idea that entertains more people than just myself. As easily amused as I am, this could be difficult.

Durasteel? Durasteel isn't what makes up the hull of most combat starships... it's too weak. I think they use some sort of Neutronium hull... On an ISD I wouldn't be surprised if the armor thickness was measured in meters in some sections of the hull.
