"Watch what ya're jumpin' on then, Mafa." Tuk cooly rolled over and stood up, still very irritated that his sleep had been interrupted, and by her, of all 'yena. He sighed. Whatever, couldn't be helped. "Ya 'ungry or something, ta be tryin' ta eat yer own pack?"

Mafa's hot temper had cooled down significantly over the seconds passed and she sighed, turning her head to the side. She then turned her gaze back to Tukutu, her voice no longer held any anger, it was just... dead as usual,
"I'll eat whoever the hell I want to Tukutu. Just won't be you or the others. Maybe a fat cub or two..."
Mafa's voice trailed off as she fell into though. She was hungry as hell and thinking of that lion meat that she had recently aquired a taste for didn't help. She hadn't eaten in a whole week and she was getting weak. A leader couldn't be weak.
"Let's go Tukutu, you're going to help me hunt"

"Ah, whatever yew say, Mafa." Tukut stood up on all for feet and shook the dust off of his fur, having it turn back into the normal dark smokey colour it had always been. He didn't really always enjoy being told what to do, but hey, it was better then having to sit and figure things out on your own. He stretched his limbs a bit, getting ready for a brisk trot before stepping out of the skull, making sure that no stupid lions were about to ruin their hunting plans.

Mafa made a swift circle around the inside of the small skull and then promptly headed out of the mouth after Tukutu. They'd have to go beyond their own lands for better hunting. Perhaps, if they caught something big, Mafa would bring back a scrap of meat for her little followers. If she felt like it. It was every hyena for itself out here. Hell, she didn't even know where anyone was.
Mafa's trot was rather fast paced but it was quiet, every once in a while she looked over to Tukutu and opened her mouth but shut it again after a few seconds. She had something on her mind and it was worrying her. Her tone didn't show her worry however, just frustration.
"A few days ago I met this cub. He was ranting something about a pride in the Graveyard. I slashed him up good but... But what if they come? We don't have enough of us to kill them all... I won't have them defacing hyena land with their filthy selves Tuk, I won't"

Tukutu trotted up to her, being just behind her right side, letting her keep the lead. "Lions, 'ere? Dey must be nuts then, since we c'n barely live 'ere ourselves. We dun eat as much as they do, nor 'ave to feed as many. Dem lions breed like rabbits, I 'ear." He shook his head as he kept pace with Mafa. "Dey won't stay for too long, no doubt Mafa. 'Ey'll realise it's too rough 'ere for them soft lion-y selves." His tail swished behind him as he trotted along, his ears working overtime in listening for anything odd...expecially lions.

Mafa pressed her ears back in aggrivation at the sheer thought of lions trying to take over. Those damn felines were nuts, brought nothing but havoc. And if they had plans to take over the hyenas, they were dead wrong. She was getting herself rather worked up with all of these thoughts, she couldn't believe they had the nerve to even think it.
Up ahead, the landscape was changing. The drab grey was merging into a funky yellow. It made Mafa squint, the drastic color change hurt her eyes. Surely, there would be something satifying in the southlands.
"They're weak, all weak. If not, I'll take them out myself."

Tukutu's thoughts were much more mellow, more focused on the hunt ahead then anything to do with lions. He was set in his thoughts that they probably wouldn't last very long. Lions hated it around here, while he just loved it, with a deadly passion. He may not have a personal thing about lions, but if anyone was going to try and mess up his simple way of life, there'd be blood shed. Lions never were too smart, and they'd learn the the Hyena here were something to not play around with. His tail perked up a bit with his thoughts, though he didn't share them with Mafa. Maybe he would, in the future.

Up ahead there was a change in the winds as there was a change in terrain. Mafa could now feel bits of dry grass crunching under her paws. It was a strange feeling, especially for one who had lived in an area void of all plant life for their whole life as Mafa had. There was also a faint scent in the air. One of prey beast. And as suspected up ahead, there was a small herd of gazelle, all looking very sleepy. Normally, Mafa wouldn't have even bothered with a creature so fast but the time of night was perfect for an ambush.
Her gaze shifted to Tukutu and she fell silent, her paws making little sound on the grassy dirt. Her eyes narrowed and head nodded toward a gazelle on the outskirts of the herd. It seemed to be completely asleep, how perfect. Mafa hunched over, tensing her muscles up and getting ready to attack.
With another glance and nod at Tukutu, Mafa unwound and charged at full speed toward her target, lethal jaws wide open and waiting.

Tukutu picked up his pace toa full run, rollowing Mafa to her right. She hoped that she'd take the left side, and he'd get the right, his own jaws snapping open and shut as he gulped in air to keep his running speed up. His blood was rushing, and he surpressed the urge to laugh, as hyena's do when they're excited. When he got closer to the now somewhat awake gazelle, he went straight for the forelegs, hoping that he could avoid a quick from the lethargic beast while letting Mafa actually take the kill.

Mafa grinned grimly for the first time in the presence of another. He had it. Looked like Tukutu wasn't as useless as she had first thought him to be. As the male held the now thrashing animal from running, Mafa ran up to it, avoiding it's bucks and rams, and lunged for it's throat. She hit. Blood immdiately started to seep from the wound and it only made Mafa's deadly grip more intense. She hadn't tasted the blood of a prey beast such as this in months.
As the seconds went by the animal grew weaker, it's leg wounded and it's air supply cut off. With a final jolt of her fangs Mafa bit down, snapping the gazelles' neck. She let it fall from her grasp and lifted her head up to release a cackle of victory. It had been well earned and it felt damn good.

After breaking the gazelle's legs, he had clung onto them to keep the beast from flailing it's forelegs as Mafa went for the throat. Tukutu could see out of the corner of his eye the warm bllod drifting down the Gazelles neck and chest, his mouth salivating for the fresh meat that was just waiting for him to devour. He would give his...lady...Mafa the first mouthful, but he probably wouldn't be able to hold himself back after that.

Mafa's eyes seemed almost glazed over as she looked at their kill. Their kill. Now there was a new concept. It was a big kill too, enough to feed some of their pack. Too bad they'd eat most of it themselves. She chuckled lightly, the bloodlust almost seemed to lift the cold, heartless barrier that Mafa never let down. But the next second it was gone. She looked to Tukutu blankly, he was waiting for her. Now there was an accomplishment. The hyena licked her bloody chops and opened her strong jaws. Her head dove down and jaws clamped onto the soft flank of the animal. Her head thrashed and rose, a slab of red, bleeding meat in her mouth. The rabid seeming creature gulped it down and nodded to Tuk. And then she tucked in again, gorging herself with the nourishment she had been deprived of for so long.

Tukutu's nose twitched as he say Mafa eating in their kill. He wanted to be polite, sinc eshe was his queen, but she was still seen as an annoying aquaintance in his eyes most of the time, and he inched toward the front side of the gazelle, hoping to snatch at least a mouthful to tide him over for the moment. There may not be as much meat, but there was enough to fill up the male, since he had seemingly been eating better then Mafa. He tore out the throat of the dead beast and began chewing on the neck muscles, the warm blood oozing down his maw. This, to him, was bliss that couldn't be replicated.

Mafa growled defensively as Tukutu began to dig into the kill as well. Of course she had allowed him to, but old habits simply died hard. She knew there was enough for them both to go around, she just wanted to get her fill and then some before anyone else. After gorging on the meat for a few minutes, Mafa rose her head and licked her bloody chops. She was more full than she had ever been and it was damn satisfying. With a little hiccup, the female staggered a few feet from the bloody mess and flopped down with a content sigh. She looked back to Tukutu without a word and then let her eyes scan back to the graveyard. They'd have to head back soon, but first, she was in for some digesting.

Tukutu, who had been eating a bit better then Mafa lately is seemed, lazily chewed on his food as his mind blanked out on nothing but the fresh meat. Nothing crossed his mind as he tore through the body, being picky about the bits that were left. The soft fat edged against the mean, the tendons that were a bit too stringy for his taste. He really loved the flesh that was just near the bones. It had a special place in his heart, and he inched through the body, eating every little piece that he could find, while not totally filling himself up. Once he had gained enough in his stomache, he plopped down near the kill, ready to fend it off from the annoying vultures that were lazier then what others thought of 'yenas. He yawned and licked his chops, cleaning to blood up best he could before the flies attacked his face. Maybe he could coerce Mafa to drag the kill back, get the other stupid 'yenas a little food. They'd need nutrition to keep their strength up, since those damn lions kept getting closer and closer to taking more of their land. His tail flopped against the ground, anticipating some sort of war that would most likely never come true.
