Shinja's eyes widened and he nearly choked on his liquor as Kyana showed him her scar. "What the hell is going on...we all seem to be suffering from the same illness..." Shinja pulled off his glove and revealeed the large, black spot on the palm of his hand. Seemingly floating against his skin were fragments of the dark aura that emitted from the scar. He then quickly slipped his glove back on and looked at Kyana.
"If the ORB's powers infected you and Maki...then that must mean...that everyone who encountered Darktail on that day is infected." Suddenly, it hit him like a shot to the head. That's why Fira isn't infected...she was merely observing the battle from afar...Zetsuei wasn't around at the time, so he couldn't have been infected...
"Kyana. We must go...now." He suddenly turned his back to them and headed in the direction of the hospital. Before he continued walking, however, he stopped and turned to Kisaragi. "Oh, and I wouldn't call me young...when you're over 50,000 years old, I think you qualify as being old." He smirked before he started walking again.

"Shinja wait I am infected with nothing. That black patch is merely the scar of the infection. It does not plague me. You see I was not only wounded by dark tail. I was in fact killed by dark tail before I ever met you. It was the first time i met Greed and Maki although they do not know of this. I was killed protecting the one person that means more than any other to me. It was then as i passed over the edge between the living and the dead that i was bathed in the life giving aspect of the being phoenix who no longer inhabits this realm. She whos healing magic is absolute and can defy even the pits of death. When i was reborn all that was left of my wound which had pierced straight through was this mark and a similar one on my back were the evil had been sealed in the scar where it can do no more harm."
Kyana remembered back to the days following the battle. She remembered how she had battled to stay in this world with Katrea and the others after her strenuous attack and how she had succeeded and healed against all odds her immune system had purged the evil inflicted via minor wounds.
"Also from experience it would seem your body can heel minor wounds with the dark energies itself it is the larger wounds that both plague you and spread. I am lucky that i merely helped from a distance."

As Maki sat in the darkness humming to herself a bright light suddenly broke through the dark ceiling revealing that she was sitting on a ledge. Beneath her is an endless tunnel of vines squirming and moving below. "GO AWAY!" Maki screamed as the sounds of an infant echoed through the tunnel. "LEAVE ME ALONE!"
"But your son needs you to feed him," hissed the voice as a vine reaches up and grabs her legs. "You have the darkness he needs to grow.""Why are you torturing me?! Your nothing more than a dream and you can be conquered!" she screamed.
"A dream? Foolish girl," it answered. "I'm not a dream. I'm the darkness itself my dear and through your ignorance I may be reborn! Muha ha ha ha ha!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Maki screamed.

Shooting straight up out of bed Maki ran down the halls of the hospital and down the flight of stairs. Not noticing the new vines that replaced the ones hacked by Zetsuei and Shinja earlier. Sleepwalking again Maki runs out of the hospital in a total panic, her wound breaking open again by the sudden movement and the tainted blood began oozing down her side. The vines stretching to reach for her as she takes off into the city.

Jumping out of the chair, Zetsuei grabbed hs postils as he ran out the door
"Fira, cmon Im going to need your help"
Running down the stairs Zetsuei followed the dark energy he could sense.

Looking back as Zetsuei Fira suddenly jumped up, and only caught a glimps of Maki running out the door. Quickly she aswell got to her feet, grabbed her cane and ran out the door as she yelled, "Where is she going?!"

Continuing to follow Maki, Zetsuei yelled back at Fira.
"I have no clue what she is doing. but we need to find her quick before somethign happens to her"

"Alright, well find her!" Fira yelled back after clearing the stairs and then picked up the pace running out the castle. Stopping for only a moment to see where Maki had gone off to before taking off again, "It looks like she went off this way."

Maki kept running, each time she heard an infant coo or cry she ran faster away from town. Vines began creeping along the walls after her. Smothering anyone who got in its way.

Kisaragi looked up at the himan spoke.
"...Fair enough, lead the way to your friend and maybe we can help him..."
He looked around to find the other human.
"...Come my friend, and do not worry about my sister, the sent is still far away...come..."
Kisaragi followed the human tracks.

Following Maki, Zetsuei saw the vines once again and covering the walls. Pulls out his gun he began to shoot rounds of fire energy into the vine which burnt them down
"She cant be much farther ahead"

Seeing the vines Fira's wings suddenly began to grow out of her back. They were bigger then in her Phoenix form to enable her to fly still in her human form, but they were still just as bright and vivid. Opening her wings she gently glided the end of her feathers along the wall as she ran burning what ever vines her feathers touched and yelled to Zetsuei, "Let's get to her before the vines do!"
With that Fira flapped down with her wings, burning more vines before she jumped into the air riding the rising heated air. She began to glide swiftly towards Maki as she glided close to the vines to continue burning them with her with a mear touch of her feathers as she flew.

The three barrels of his gun began to glow as he released another spirit blast at the vines which incenerated them. Exiting the building he ran in the direction of where he sensed Maki.
"Yes Fira lets hurry and do that. Those vines are not a good sign."

Maki kept running until she saw an open field and ran as fast as she could but soon a vine grabbed her ankles and sent her falling to the ground. Hitting her head on the road she was unconsious.
