Baratos
1. how do you get them to the tanks?
2. I like lasguns too, but why not get more fire warriors?
Simple, they charged the tanks.

As for why not more fire warriors, they were being used in a highly mobile list. The Gue'vesa would provide a static firebase while the fire warriors in devilfish and battlesuits would do flanking maneuvers.

Personally, although fourth edition really does give the Tau and advantage at using the Devilfish transport, at the same time it's 80 more base points you could pump into either more warriors or upgrades and battle sutis.

Personally I say nutts to the devilfish, BRING ME THE GUN SHIPS!!!!!

The only way I've been able to have a chance with them is take a squad of Striking Scorpions from Eldar and Deep Strike but I messed up my scatter role and ended up right next to the cursed Kreut....Damn you Kreut...

Hold on, scorpians can deep strike?
Uhh...I'm not sure actually.
they can but you have to take out the kroot cuz they have close combat weapons

I've seen a few people using the Kroot. They got mixed results. IMO they're better as auxiliaries. I've been thinking about converting some Pink and Blue Kroot for a Nurgle- based army... pink and blue because they'd recently eaten dead Tzeentch Horrors.

@BanetheSlayer- You need a Shas'o for a Tau army. Trust me on this one. An Ethereal has a big red bullseye painted on him, and goes into battle wearing a t-shirt that says "Kill me! No, seriously... Kill me!"

Lol thx all I needed is a HQ unit because the battle Force doesn't come with one. Thats funny I should get a Etheral and paint a bulls eye on him and give him a shirt that says that

Yeah... I didn't expect the kroot army to work too well. The concept of no armour and little in the lines of resources makes it a tricky army to deploy. Thanks for replying to me. ^_^

Also, an Ethereal is great in battle. Keeps the morale of your boys up or down depending on your tactics and can easily be hidden from fire.

You say he's got a bulls eye on his shirt. Then why is it mine has a big shiny hat and has died maybe one in the last 16 or 17 games i've used my tau in?

Sure people know that the Ethereal is a weak point, but when you have hammerheads, broadsides, criss suits and steatlh suits pwning the s**t out of your army. Are you not gonna try to retaliate? Targeting fully on that ethereal is not only a waist of shots but of time too. A smart player hides his Ethereal from line of sight and places him in dense terrain so the cloak weaing diplomat gets an actual cover save! *waves smiley face flag* yay.

Seriously, I've fought many types of foes in many types of battles. The enemy is more concerned with why my Army is circling them and closing in for the kill than trying to figure out where that one little guy with the hat is. Nothing is more nerving than Tau moving in, threatening to use.....

I dunno. Maybe you're just the first person in all of history who successfully hides his Ethereal at the back of the line? My ethereal died every game, usually because of deep- striking assault squads or land speeders.

My ethereal never dies! the opposing army never find him as a threat, i keep them busy with all the other types of units, i guess not that many people know that when an ethereal dies, every tau unit on the battlefield has to take a morale test.. besides kroot or drones... i think drones dont have to...
