Soquili Princess soquili smiled and took the basket from Chandrika. It was brimming with vegetables from the harvest.
She placed it at the pale face's feet and stepped back with a smile. Padre Miguel dismounted from Arama to examine this basket full of things he had never seen before. "I shall try this first, Christien...I do not want you to be poisoned if this is supposed to be a weapon against us." Then, taking a taste of the red thing, he smiled back at Soquili and tried to show his gratitude through gestures and repetition of the languages he knew. "Gracias. Thank you. Es delicioso. It's delicious!"

Freodwyn Arama snorted after looking at what this horse was worried about. "Our masters wouldn't hurt anyone with that stick thing unless they attacked us first. My master would get angry at them if they tried to use it without warrant." She smiled. "It doesn't really hurt; I don't even notice it when I carry my master. And of course I work; my master needs me. Without me, he could not travel far, and he would not be as respected by the other masters. Without the respect of the other masters, we would not be able to eat. Where we come from, only the most respected of the masters can have us work for them." She didn't understand the concept of richness and poorness; she only saw the way everyone treated her master with respect. Trying to get what she was telling her, she raised an eyebrow and looked at her and her 'master'. "Master huh?" Then going back to the subject. "Well uh...glad to hear that you won't hurt us." Nodding again. "Then I guess we're friends..." Looking back at her human, she motioned her to come over.Chamain got called over. Then she walked over scared, shivering a bit. Oh no....what does Awnae want... Staying calm, she smiled but tried to look innocent and not scared."Meet my human...she is nice. I don't believe she can understand us, but she may understand your human."

Kisoni Ansel watched the mare for a few moments before offering her a consoling wicker. He hadn't really meant to snap, but did tilt his head with an inquiring look at her when she spoke of his master hurting him. "My boy? No, never!" A short laugh escaped him before he could stop it, and he tossed his head, "None of this is oh so painful.. well, the bit--the mouthpeice--is a little uncomfortable till you get used to it, but as Armana just said, Its only for the masters when we're 'working'."Christian glanced back over towards the Padre again, before once more looking down at the babbling primitives. "Padre.. do you have any idea how we can explain ourselves to them? They must have guns, and other weapons, as we heard one go off... what do we do if they decide we mean harm.." He still hadn't dropped his hands all the way, for fear of alarming these people who vastly outnumbered their little group. It was about that moment that his stomache, pressed to his spine as it already was, decided to make itself known, causing a deep crimson flush across his cheeks and ears. "Oh. How could you allow a two legger to treat you like that? Our two leggers are our friends and would never do that to us. We are free... a net cannot be made to catch the wind... the only way is with your heart".

((yay! just wanted to make sure...)) Jessamin felt Chandrika's smile begin to glow inside of her. She wanted to help too! She swung down from her perch and dashed off to her own teepee, where she pulled out dried fish and salted deer. She stuck a bit of the deer her own own mouth, before bringing the meat to the Princess. She, too, wanted to offer peace to the pale faces. And since they were already given vegtables, why not meat as well?

Astai looked at Awnae. "Can I be her friend too?" She smiled at Amara. "Maybe we can go to the lake!" Tia grinned. "Of course, you would have to take that thing of your back for a bit." The thought of the lake made Astia happy, and she forgot any nervousness she had before.

Crowfoot "Ar-ama.." She smiled. "I do not stay with the two-leggeds.. I prefer to stay free.." She tilted her head. "A kalona is a demon horse.." She said with a wary nod. "Best to stay away from those.." Chamain "Very nice to meet you Arama, my name is Awnaety...pronounced Awn-nae-ty." She said slowly again. "Masters..." Giggling at the word. "We do not have masters, we have humans as friends." Nodding looking at Chamain. "Kalonas are horror, you'll learn about them later, we do not want to scare you off with the description, since we just met." winking at the horse. "Nice to meet you, Awn-nae-ty," she said, before blinking in surprise. "Friends? You can be friends with the two-legged ones? And you can stay free here?" she smiled. "In the old country, there was not room for anyone to stay free. Perhaps my master will like it here. Your humans seem to be making friends with our masters." Then, at the description of kalonas, her eyes widened in fear. "I think my master wouldn't dare go near such things anyway. I certainly won't go when I'm not working, that's for certain."
((Edit smile )
Arama nodded to the new human that stepped before her, and smiled at the thought of running to the lake. "I am sure my master will let me go free for a while. I'd love to go to the lake with you."

"El... del...eee..ci...o...so?" it felt weird to talk like that and the funny way she moved her mouth caused her to start giggling. What hillarious sounding words these pale faces were making. They wore so many clothes and must be sweating.. it was a hot day. She wondered why they didn't dress like her and the other Kawanis.

"I do get the feeling we are more alike than our masters.." Lady replied to the strange male, tossing a glance to Geoffrey and the natives before looking back at him. "But what is it you do here if you don't carry your two-legged one?"
Geoffrey took a good look at the basket and smiled politely at the native girl before glancing at the other settlers the gauge their reactions. He was less than convinced by the Spaniard's mention of poison, deciding that surely such a primitive people would just attack them outright if they wanted attention.
"What does it taste like?" He managed to ask the Padre before his attention was grabbed again by the native, who's broken Spanish caused him to stifle a chortle.

"Oh yes, call me Awnae instead of Awnaety, it is shorter. Both ways are just fine." Smiling happily. "Yes Astia, we're all friends...this is a free land. Every soquilis is running free." Looking proud of where she was born. Then focussing on the humans, they did seem to be making peace too.

"I think they like the food" Nokomei sighed in relief, there really was nothing to worry about after all. She pulled an apple from her hipsack and slowly made her way towards one of the settler's soquili, offering the apple out to any whom may take it.
Oathkeeper made sure to stay right by her side, in case any of the strange pale face's soquili made an attempt to her her.

"Take some food, sons. It is quite good, and you must be hungry." He then turned toward Soquili again. He sincerely doubted, based on her laughter and the fact that she had just inadvertantly called everything in the basket "the delicious", that she could understand any word he was saying. Still, he decided to try making progess. Pointing to himself, he said, "Miguel Hernandez Soto de Santiago."
