Maryke watched the display with widened eyes and a fully parted lip. She didn't know what to say, the whole thing had just happened too damn fast. And.......she wasn't exactly afraid, afterall, the dog had said he wasn't going to bite, and the cheatah girl looked like, well hell they both look like they could maul her right then and there, but she had a feeling, or at least she hoped, that they wouldn't.
"Well okay then," she said quietly to the dog, trying to avoid direct eye contact. Hadn't she read something along those lines when dealing with dogs.
To the girl's question, she merely twitched and said simply, "New...? Oh...uh yes, I am." She frowned slightly, not knowing really what to do. She would have ran, but...didn't that mean they were more liable to chase her? "Maryke," she said, waving a hand towards herself. "I got here...yesterday."

Colche's ears perked happily as she cuddled up to Pyroth wedging herself firmly in to a comfortable possition virtually between Pyroths front fore legs before turning to Marke to relay her own name "Colche" she purred happily her beautiful blue eyes dancing in that sweetly innocent manner they always did. Okay, maybe this new person wasn't all bad, she hadn't run away, screamed or shouted about the fact that she was naked, three normal things for new people to do or say.
Looking up to Pyroth she puurred happily, it was amazing how cute he was now he was all like a big puppy. She puurred happily as she sat there, the puurr clearly coming from her chest rather than a curled tongue, she remembered faintly when she had first puurred, she had always loved the sound and she made it often. It reverbriated around the room now as she waited for Marke to lift her eyes or say something more.

He nodded, already impressed by Mar's self control in the face of the absurd, most islanders yet to experience a change would have had a breakdown of sorts at the sight of two 100 percent islanders in front of them. The glamorous woman was duly noted as worthy of a degree of respect for now.
Unasked, he identified himself, aware that Colche probably already had when she first yelled on arrival "I'm Pyroth. Nice to meet you Maryke and my consolations at your arrival here." he smirked wrly "It's not exactly the most wonderful place in the world. How'd you end up here? Tricked? Or voluntary?"
The coyote was glad to see Colche unphased by his current form, something that soothed him from his self-conciousness.

After the intial shock was diminishing some the madame noticed that indeed Colche was naked. But hell, she supposed if the dog could be naked why couldn't the spotted kitty kat be too. Besides there was something about this woman that seemed....different. Something deep rooted there that Maryke could feel a strange connection with. Perhaps it was her blatant innocence that countered the brunette's loss of. She'd been hurt more times then she could remember, so she found some sort of solace in the cheetah girl's large eyes and smiling face. Even though the teeh were more then a little much.
"Hmmmp," she said to Pyroth's comment, moving a little closer dispite the fact that her gaurd was still up. "Tricked. I was under the impression that this was going to be a resort."
She sighed and shook her head, "I'm not going to let the b*****d get away with it...I just....need to figure out a plan. But, idealism aside.... are you?" She hesitated, eyeing them both and not sure to ask. She decided just to come out and say it so she blurted, "Are you at the peak of your changes?"

Colche didn't understand what the lady was asking but she did seem nice enough, he long tail swayed and she bobbed happily waiting for Pyroth to feild that question.
Her ears twitched and she looked at Marke, she smiled lightly and one paw like hand casme up to itch her furry cheek. She yawned a bit but glanced over the back of the couch to the lines of DVD's there "wanna dvd?" she questioned her perfect blue eyes smiling as she asked this. She had been upon her morning run as usual and now she was ready to settle down and watch a dvd before her usual kitty nap then of course her lessons later on.
Colche had certainly improoved a great deal since she had come to the island with her speach patterns though her words were still childish she was coming along in leaps and bounds, she learned a new word every day which was pushed roughly in to her vocabulary where they were stored for later use.

Pyroth chuckled darkly "Heh, they always trick people into coming here, I thought I'd gotten lucky by being rescued after a storm nearby. Pffft." he snorted derisively "I'd have been better off if I'd ended up anywhere but here."
A jaded grin was all he gave her for her determination to get revenge on the doctor "If you come up with any plan that will give us access to that pompous a** and you'd have the support of most of the island. Me included" He nodded "But yes, both of us have received our 5th injection, and as far as any of us are aware, it's the last. I doubt I could get any more canine no matter how many injections they gave me." He was still numb to it though and didn't seem as bothered as he should have done really.
Nodding to Colche he said "That's actually what I came here for but...." he held a paw aloft "Not easy. You can choose if you want."
Returning his gaze to Maryke he tilted his head, deliberating wether to ask if she knew what she would eventually be turning into, he'd been hearing whispers of more unusual serums being used lately around the island. He hoped for her sake it wasn't an insect or mollusc.
"They told you what they injected you with yet?"

"Oh believe you me Pyroth, I'lll figure something out....I just," she shrugged, "I wanna get a feel for this place first. Figure out where the power lies." She looked over at Colche once, smiling back rather hesitantly, but then letting the smile warm up. She couldn't help but like the girl. There wasn't enough innocence in this world as far as she was concerned. Granted she lived in a place and job where such a thing didn't exist and wasn't allowed but still.
At his next question she shook her head. "He didn't say. I haven't asked. I don't think I really want to know. I'm still very much in denial about the whole thing." She lowered her head slightly and then ran a hand behind her head, thinking deeply. "If I could just get in a phone call I've got many people I influence back home. Doctors even. I'm sure someone would be able to help me in.....this...." she added waving towards herself, "situation."

Colche grinned, there was only one dvd she wanted to watch right now and she bounced over the couch to fetch it. Heading straight for the shelves with the disney dvd's on she slipped lady and the tramp from the shelf and bounced towards the player popping it in before she bounced back to the couche and lay down her cheek resting on Pyroths paws. Her puurr continued through the beggining credits then she slowly went quiet humming along to the tune.
Looking to Marke she smiled sweetly though she yawned a wide cat like yawn as she cuddled up closely to the cyote man. She wanted to stay awake and chat for a little while she watched her dvd but her hums soon trailed off and she was silent. Colche could sleep through anything once she was napping. Perfect blue eyes closed to the world as she snuggled happily with her real life tramp. She couldn't help but smile in her sleep at how cute pyroth looked, he was so sweet and doggy like just like the tramp.

Pyroth laughed to himself before saying rather bluntly "A lot of islanders have tried, and none yet succeeded. I wish you luck in succeeding where they did not. But yeah, if there's anything you need to know, I've been here just under a year and seen a lot of things I wished I hadn't."
He could understand why she hadn't wanted to know what she was turning into, it was often the anticipation that made it worse. "I think the only phone on the island is up in the mansion, the most heavily guarded part of the labs, you'd be very lucky indeed to get a call in. There are a lot of people here with contacts the doctor would probably rather not have on his tail." he waved a paw expressively "But, again, all the luck to you, if you do make it to a phone somehow."
The canine could help but grin at Colche's choice of DVD, finally catching onto where his nickname had most likely come from. He didn't mind her lying across his paws and simply rested his head on a shoulder while she rested, glad in some ways to be free from the constant worries of preconceptions people carried about men being seen anywhere near innocence such as Colche's. Now he was just another dog basically, finally able to just enjoy being a protector of one of the islanders who'd been a constant source of happiness to him since his arrival.
To Maryke he added "But yeah, definately the best place to start looking around if you are seeking a way to contact the outside world is up at the labs. "

"I see," she said quietly, taking in all his words with great interest. She had learned some valuable things in that moment. And Maryke would be rest assured to use them. She wondered what the man behind the island was like, for clearly he was the one that orchestrated the whole thing. Afterall why call something The Mansion unless it had some sort of overbearing power attatched to it. Indeed, she'd be trying her very best to get in and to the phone. If she could get to a phone then she would be able to call one of her people. Which meant that it'd be their turn to worry. They would see who had the power.
But, that would prove difficult, because with everyone she talked to thus far it seemed like getting out was a constantly lost battle. She would at least try though. In her mantra of thought she looked over and down at Colche, nestled so tightly against Pyroth. She swore there was something about that girl then ran deeper then just the fur and the bright eyes. But, that'd be something she'd figure out after the fact.
"Thank you," she said, grinning to Pyroth. Looking at him like a man, rather then a dog. "You've been...most helpful. I'll give you a shout if I need a paw or two," she added with a small little head nod before she finally turned and walked out of the room.

Pyroth was more grateful than a mere tailwag could express at being treated as nothing less than human the whole time by Maryke, if she could get off the island then more power to her, it was probably too late for him to lead a normal life anyway. "Bye." he said as she left, hoping that she would succeed, if not in getting to a phone, then kicking up hell.
Resting his head once again on the sleeping Colche, he settled in to watch the rest of the lady and the tramp, never having seen the film before. He could have cared less that it was a children's movie, it was a reminder of long gone normality and by the time it was done, he actually felt a little cheered up.
Still, not wanting to wake Colche, he carefully bounced off the chair, turning to make sure she was still fast asleep before heading back out into the days sunlight and back to his duplex.

[new RP]
Awen sat curled up on one end of the couch with a seemingly very interesting book. A controller and cord lay sprawled over from the entertainment system to the floor beside the couch, where it lay disguarded. There was no doubt that Awen had been playing the Xbox only a little while ago.
Now however she was engrossed in a seemingly new book. The dust-jacket that lay sprawled on the coffee table read "Phantom" as did the golden lettering on the spine of the black book. Should anyone come in and care to notice the manta sitting on the couch, they would surely notice the trails of tears running down the girl's cheeks and the puffy red eyes.

Since the last few days Maryke spent most of her time locked away in her duplex. It wasn't that she was AFRAID of the other islanders, it was the simple fact that the madame was at her wits end with them. Not them as individuals, but them as a generalization. To look at them meant that she was constantly reminded that she was stuck on this craphole island...at least for the moment. At least until she could formulate a plan that was steelproof enough to where she knew she'd be kissing this wretched place goodbye. But, after a few days of solitude she knew there wasn't anything she could do until she learned more about the place she was locked away in herself.
She didn't want to chance too far from her duplex however. And there was really only one place she knew of that might have an islander or two in it AND make her feel secure enough to enter. And that was the entertainment room. So chancing herself she walked into it casually. She stopped however when she saw a familar face, and when she did she instantly noticed the tears and the puffy eyes.
"I come at a bad time?" She asked, quietly. She would have backed out and simply let the manta girl alone. But, she had a feeling she could be heard by her footsteps anyway so it was pointless.

Awen sniffled softly as she looked suddenly up from her book. She noticed the wavery brown hair though her blurred vision and wiped the tears away. She gave a self conscious laugh as she shook her head.
"No, no!" She said as she placed a bookmark to hold her place. "Just... a um...good book." She waved the look slightly in the air before putting it down next to the dust-jacket that belonged to it.
"It's Goodkind's new one... and er.. well..." She shifted and swung her legs off the side of the couch. "Come on in have a seat! M...Maryke you said your name was last time, right?"

The brunette gave a small dimpled smile, just about the only time to tell whether or not her smiles were geniune was to see if her dimples showed. In this particular case, she meant it. For some reason she felt a calm wash over her at seeing Awen. Being around familarity was of course good in any given situation, but with everything that had been going on it seemed like her relief was sevenfold.
She gave a short little head nod and flopped onto the couch, careful not to do it too forcibly or took look aloof while doing it. "Mhmmm," she said, "Maryke. Awen right?"
