Corrupt Basic Diesel of Combustion l 2 R4
R1: 3
R2: 3
R3: 3
R4: 2

((Diesel is so excited to fight, and he's so bad at it.))

He'd wanted to prove he could be useful. While Nat was being helped out by a cute red-head and Narci didn't have any skills to aid him in combat, Diesel wanted to be the one to protect them, to show them that while everyone else was down, he could be there.

It was just a matter of getting close and not being mauled in the process.

Because no matter how he looked at it, Diesel had to be close to be effective. He didn't have the physical strength of someone like his brother, and his magic needed him to physically come in contact with something for it to activate. Diesel glanced at his hands, slowly curling and uncurling his fingers. The issue was there was no way to get close.

When Diesel dove forward, it only took a swipe of the monster's claws to whip up such a force of wind that it sent everything sprawling backward. The growing trees and mounting darkness didn't help. Branches and twigs snapped out at him, slicing through his fuku and his skin. He wasn't fast enough to dodge them all, and he was basically blind after having spent too many days in his contacts even without the surrounding darkness. He wanted to fight because he could, but maybe his time was better served lingering close to his allies and blocking any more threats to them.

Corrupt Basic Diesel of Combustion l 2 + 5 Talisman bonus R5
R1: 3
R2: 3
R3: 3
R4: 2
R5: 2

((Look at this small full house. I was going for a yahtzee of three's, but game wanted to show me it could get worse.))

It wasn't only him that couldn't do anything, as far as Diesel could tell. The darkness engulfed them all, but even before then, if he'd watched anyone launching their own assaults, nothing seemed effective. Everyone was as battered by those horrific claws as everyone else.

He was lurched to the ground, and it felt frighteningly as if something was on top of him, smothering him, blocking out every trace of sound or sight from all around. He wanted to scream for Nat. Diesel hated to admit it, but his brother had always just been this sort of brick, unaffected by things. He hated it, but wanted the reassurance of someone not delirious and desperate all the same.

So much for being there for his allies...

A screech tore out of him, and he writhed beneath whatever weight held him. Though he felt nothing solid when he reached back, the feeling of long nails leaving red welts down his back persisted. There wasn't an enemy to use his magic on. Nothing he could punch to get it off of him. But there was still solid ground beneath him, and Diesel wasn't going to not use whatever he could to escape.

He threw his open palms toward the ground with a shout of his attack. Light and heat unfurled at the impact, and the resulting blast picked him up off the ground and threw him clean across the grass. But the weight was lessened. Diesel scrabbled into a proper sit.

And he was uprigt in time to watch the hoards of talismans they'd collected from the forect fly toward the monster.

Quote:
MONSTER’S HP: 11/1500

The talismans seemed to have some greater purpose now that they were activated; they continued to glow brightly, so much so that it seemed like the darkness physically recoiled once the talismans were in full effect. The darkness snapped back to the creature, hitting it as though it had been struck with a blow. It stumbled backwards.

Everything warped oddly; for a few seconds, time and space seemed irrelevant. The trees jerked back down to their usual size--and the monster as well.

It staggered where it stood, clearly on its last legs.

It wasn’t giving up. It spread its arms still, like a gate to block them from getting past it.

Weakened, it was not yet defeated, and its eyes flashed with desperation. It let out another deafening howl and flushed out its fan of feathers, giving it as much size as possible. It was trying everything in this last ditch--the fog was rolling in, the eyes of its feathers were trying to hypnotize, and it was barking loud, frantic sounds to try and disorient as many of the group as possible.

But something else had been activated.

The strange metal pieces that had been littered around town, scattered and broken, began to shift in the hands of their owners-frantically trying to escape their clutches.

The first piece flew through the air and struck the creature like a rock being thrown--and the second and third rapidly followed. It slashed, distracted by them, but more seemed to flow through the air. They were hovering around the creature--collecting around it. It continued to swipe at them instead, buying a little time for the group to make their last efforts.

Quote:
The creature is still attacking but is distracted by the strange metal pieces flying at them! You may choose to be affected by any of the monster’s abilities! If your character collected a metal piece from Prompt 6, it will leave your possession and be pulled towards the monster! There is no way to stop this from happening; the pieces are collecting around it, hovering like a bubble around the creature. You may handwave that any of your participating characters located a piece, even if you did not complete the prompt with one of those characters.

This will be the last prompt to roll before the end of the event! Please see the below text in red, for more information!

Roll 6: Use RNG to determine how much damage you can do to the monster!

  • If you have a civilian, a powered character using their civilian glamour, or a Mauvian in their cat form, please RNG 1-8 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a first stage character, a Mauvian in their humanoid form, or a youma, please RNG 2-9 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a second stage character or a Mauvian in their Mauvian Senshi form, please RNG 3-10 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a third stage character, please RNG 4-11 to determine how much damage you do.
  • If you have a fourth stage character, please RNG 5-12 to determine how much damage you do.

Remember, your character cannot power up or down after they have arrived in this strange village so they should enter this battle and remain in whatever form they arrived in.

You may participate with as many characters as you like, however you must fill out all of your posts to be eligible for any post battle prizes. Please do not delete rolls if you make a mistake.

Please make sure you include your character's name and rank in bold red at the top of your posts when you roll! You do not need to include score or fill out your post immediately, but we need to know who you are rolling for. Please also make sure you include which roll you are posting for! Even if you are not attacking the beast, you can continue to roll for damage!

This is a team effort to defeat the monster! A low roll does not mean your character has to perform badly ICly. Dice rolls are an OOC function to determine how much cumulative damage the group has done to the creature. The group needs to do a minimum of 1500 damage to defeat him, but the more damage the group does, the more chances you have of walking with more than just your life…

This is the last prompt before close; you will not be able to join the ORP or make up lost rolls after this point in time. If you missed a prompt, you can make it up between now and the closing post. You will have ~48 hours from this point in time to make up lost rolls or have a character join. The next prompt will be posted at ~8-9PM on Wednesday, October 28th. In order to claim any event prizes, you must fill out all of your posts, even if it is only one sentence. You can continue to edit your posts and fill them out even after close, but please be diligent and make sure you include at least one sentence for every post (except in the instance of mistakes, which can simply be striked out).

Captain Rakovanite l 4 R6
R1: 6
R2: 7
R3: 4
R4: 6
R5: 6
R6: 4

Rakovanite groaned softly as he was able to push himself up on his elbows once the bizarre weight of claws dissipated from him. The senshi girl's lingering magic kept anything from feeling too terrible, and he thought for sure it was still working on him. He wasn't even sure he felt the scratches that had just landed on his back.

Everything was happening quickly now. Whatever magic the talismans had repelled many of the creature's own abilities. It shrank to its normal (though still quite sizable) height. The darkness retreated and the trees returned to what one would expect. It yapped out ringing sounds and fanned it's arms and feathers, showcasing a desperation that Rakovanite didn't understand. The monster didn't want them to escape.

But why?

If it had been killing them for prey, he would understand the desire to not lose a food source, but as far as Rakovanite was aware, it had only ever captured and tormented them, rather than eat them. No one had died, so what did it want...?

Just toys? Something it could harass to abate its own boredom? Well, Rakovanite was starting to feel like he didn't really want things to end here, like this. He felt different after Adorea's magic. It was easy to accept that they could die here. He'd wanted to quit. But now, even as wisps of fog rolled forward and atrocious sounds filled the air, he thought he did want to fight. He didn't want to succumb to these feelings if he didn't have to.

He summoned his chakrams to his hands and slung them forward, unnecessary, at this point, he was sure, as dozens of other metal shards began to fly toward the monster, including one of his own. But a few extra attacks wouldn't go amiss in keeping the monster busy while the metal shards encircled it.

Everything seemed to lift all at once. The talismans shined their light upon the creature, and everything about it recoiled at once. The darkness dissipated, the looming sizes shrunk, Diesel could breathe normally again, as if the air was clearer and a weight lifted from him.

Now that things were moving, he didn't dare get close to the monster, lest he was caught among its desperate attempts to fend of shards and talismans. While nothing had seemed to work before, everything was in motion, now. Diesel's focus whipped around, scanning where he'd landed and searching for his comrades. Something like hope bubbled in him, but he didn't want to let that feeling get the best of him.

He wanted to make sure Nat and Narci were still okay, he wanted to stand by him in case whatever magic was flowing wasn't as beneficial as they all hoped.

Diesel spotted Rakovanite slinging his chakrams out at the creature in an attempt to aid whatever was happening to stop it, and the senshi moved to stand close at his side, waiting and watching to see how things would unfold in this moment. He wasn't of any use, himself, but he tried not to get swept up in the emotions of the moment, or the fog or creature's barks could make him act deliriously and turn against anyone who came too close...

He didn't want to risk that, so he smothered a bit of cloth from his fuku over his mouth to keep from breathing anything in, and waited.

Metis of the Third Eye | 11 Roll 4

The energies from those fighting near and beyond her highlighted the growing, clawing forms of the trees all around them. Dark pillars that gouged the sky, blocking out the flowing energies of life. The creature itself grew in turn, larger and larger, dominating the field, becoming harder to tell if the dark shape she was focusing on was the creature, or a branch of a tree, or some other inanimate, dead, object.

Her heart thudded heavily in her chest, pressure squeezing as her breaths came quicker. It continued to rampage. She could hear more trees breaking and cracking under its claws. More swipes of air that tossed her hair and skirts, made her stumble and the weighted rope weapon in her hands falter. The energies continued to dwindle, blocked out by black shapes that she couldn't seem to look beyond. Even the energies of Realta, Shaowei, Nami, Athalia, herself... they all...

Vanished.

Metis trembled, clutching the makeshift weapon in her hands. She couldn't see them, but she could feel eyes staring at her. Thousands. Countless. Boring into her, watching her shake and waiting. Waiting. All they needed was for her to make one wrong step, fall out of the barrier even for a moment. And they'd pounce. She froze, terrified. The creature roared, and she yelped as she heard its large claws crash against the barrier Athalia had put up, causing her to stumble backwards.

But. The echoing sound of the attack made it clear to her where the barrier's line was. She could hear the creature slamming around. She could tell where it was. Her ears picked up heavy breaths around her--voices of people beyond the barrier--and she could hear movements of those also within the barrier with her.

"Please," she laughed into the emptiness before her. The sound was merry. Light. Boasting confidence and calm that was, indeed, in contrast to the panic swirling around her head. But she could hear plenty. And all the sounds of those around her, of the creature's frantic flailing, served to help her determine where obstacles around her were. Like it was clicking its tongue or tapping a cane against the ground sharply for her. As she'd learned to see her world as Lilith the last few years.

"You'll have to do far better than plunging me into darkness to scare me," she called--not that she expected the creature to care, or notice. But she hoped her voice reached others close to her. She could hear plenty herself. Hello darkness, my old friend. She knew how to navigate such a world. It was what gave her the confidence to swing the metal pieces once more, lashing out through the barrier at the creature. She felt the chunks of metal hit her target over and over.

Her confidence grew, her actions grew bolder, and Metis pushed herself to keep fighting. The sooner they took the creature down, even just restrained, the sooner they could be released of these fears and go home. All of them.

Realta | 6 Roll 4

The Savannah yowled and hissed, her fur standing on end as she watched the creature continue to grow. The trees along with it. It's form twisted further, gnarled like the clawing branches above. Eyes began to form within the darkness, staring, watching. Waiting just outside the shield Athalia had summoned.

The guardian flinched. How long till his magic failed? He was injured. Could he cast it again? Could he keep the darkness and those hunting eyes back? The creature's claws slammed against the barrier, and she jumped just as Metis cried out in turn.

Her body trembled, but the Mauvian forced herself to grit her teeth. Focusing her energy into another beam, the light shot out, striking the creature and, for a moment, a little of the fear and panic began to subside. But not much. She paced and hissed, only managing to laugh slightly as she heard Metis call out. At least one of them could be brave... Realta felt more like a scardy-cat in that moment than a proper guardian...

Captain Seraphinite | 8 Roll 4

If anyone wanted to know why he hated magic--this was a fine example.

The fear and panic he felt made him erratic in his attacks, slashing and slicing at whatever he could reach of the creature. The darkness aground them grew stronger, the creature got bigger. He snarled, fury taking over even as instinct begged him to get out of there.

But where was Jet? Aqua? Rigel? His panic only grew, and for once, Seraphinite wanted to run from a fight to find people, make sure they were even still alive.

Corrupt Rigel of the Eldritch | 7 Roll 4

He was terrified, but he was laughing. He was shaking, but he was smiling. Rigel looked on in a mix of horror and glee as the creature grew in size, larger and larger as even the trees around them got larger, and the shadows consumed more and more.

He wondered, briefly, if Seraphinite would call him insane for the smile on his face in that moment, twisted in fear and delight as it was. But this was wonderful to see in person.

Metis of the Third Eye | 9 + 5 (14) Roll 5

She kept on forcing herself to move. Even as darkness consumed everything. She could still hear others, still hear the creature. So, she kept fighting.

But even her determination had its limits. The sounds of combat, of the flailing monster, began to grow muffled. Distant. First like a blanket was thrown over her head. Then, like she was underwater. Finally... silence. As if she were locked away. Alone. Metis could hear only her own breaths, rapid and shallow, panicked and shaky. She froze where she stood, one hand gripping the rope, the other... the other hesitantly reaching out into the air around her. Seeking... anything, really.

Panic made her want to move, but reason kept her still. The creature was still out there, surely. Probably. Right? If she moved, she could get hurt. But if she didn't move... how could she find anything? Anyone? Her hand met empty air, and Metis bit back a whimper, digging her teeth into the soft flesh of her inner cheek.

Had this... had this been what Athalia had suffered? Had the creature done this to him, too? He was injured. What had happened to him? Her fingers felt cold, fear making her limbs start to feel tingly. Distant. Detached. She couldn't hear anyone. She tried to call out, but her voice snagged in her throat, choking her. Only a soft, keening whine broke out.

Slowly, she drew her arms around herself, feeling her body shake. She was cold. Metis tried to focus, tried to listen... but there weren't even any distant booms or cries or... or anything. No vibrations through the ground when she crouched to hesitantly press a hand to the soil. Nothing.

She was alone. Alone. Could she ever get out? Could she reach the others? Were they okay? What if the creature left them there? What if it struck them while they were lost and someone got injured? What--

Paranoia grew rapidly, making her dig her teeth into her inner cheek. Sharp pain bloomed into copper against her tongue, and she flinched--the movement of her head shaking was what made her aware of the soft white glow. Small, small tendrils of energy. Weak waves emanated from a strip of leather bound around a piece of wood, and odd symbols carved into them. When had she... pulled this from her 'pocket'?

Metis stared, more bits of light beginning to pop up here and there. Weak, but... growing stronger. She sucked in a breath, quickly turning from the creature to stumble back into where she'd last heard Athalia, Shaowei, Nami, and Realta. Her free hand drifted through the empty air, searching, all while the light from the talisman began to grow little by little.

Realta | 6 + 5 (11) Roll 5

Who would have thought the odd little bundle of wood and leather with the odd markings and weird stain would have been useful? She'd helped pull them down in case they were connected to the creature, though the glimmer of hope she'd felt upon holding one in her mouth had been... more than a tad bit reliving at the time, too.

Now, as they glowed, Realta found herself able to take a breath again.

But there was a light, and in that moment, lost in darkness and alone, Seraphinite clung to it as the only salvation he had left.

Roll 6

Vela held the talisman in her hand and she had a metal piece in her pocket which she hadn't thought about since she had picked it up while she was out looking for stuff with another member of the village. She certainly noticed it when it tore from her pocket going towards the monster which had started getting smaller and the trees that were getting smaller as well. At first, she thought that metal was something that would help the monster till she noticed that the metal pieces spinning around the creature were distracting it. It was pretty much certain they were going to win, even if it was going to make some members of the village upset since they wanted to save the monster.

Roll 6

Silistra was standing back holding up her talisman and watching as the other knights and senshi attacked for the last time working to take the monster down. She hoped this would take them all home and this would finally end. She was looking forward to a hot bath and a cup of tea. She watched as the metal pieces went to spin around the creature and she watched curiously as it distracted the monster. She wondered what they were and where they came from. It seemed strange to her that they had been brought here and there were things here that hurt this creature.
