He had punched through the hide of the beast. Chunks of its crystal body fell away showering Draven in that strange blue light. Its icy fingers racked over his magicless core. He backed off a bit with a small grin. This things power couldn't effect him like it could the rest. While its claws, teeth, horn and tail could deal a lot of damage to his body.

"Got cracks in your armor there, beastie?" he asked through pants, his hide slick with sweat. Was he about to give up, heck no, there was a Noul to be saved and with the abilities being thrown around... It was more then enough to keep it occupied to ignore one without.

The beast was battered from all sides, taking hits from Moon Mist and shoving itself out of the way of Draven. Ralir smashed against the beast’s blinded head, breaking off a chunk of its snout horn. The crystal smashed over Viltalta and scattered into shards.

The beasts bared its long, white teeth, mouth agape. Down its throat a bright, burning blue light blazed. With a snarl that rocked the foundations of the cave it blasted blue heat across the party. Everyone takes damage! -1 to all future rolls until healed.

Even Viltalta, crushed and struggling beneath the creature’s claws, is engulfed in the blast.






The group gather their stones and place them one by one on the podium. Once the last stone, the horned beast, is set snugly into the dias, the ground begins to shake. Stalactites shudder and fall plopping into the water. The lake ripples violently. The walls shed thundering stones and rip apart into great chasms.

And the lake begins to glow.

Something rises from the depths, slow and steady with the creaking sound of breaking glass, until Wanderlust and their party appear above the surface in a cage of glittering crystal. It’s difficult to see everyone through the walls of the cage, but Wanderlust appears to rear back then slam their hooves against the crystal. Splinters crack around their strike.

It looks like you’ll have to get in the water and help break the group free of their cage!

From his vantage point right by the beast's head, Ralir couldn't have hoped to escape that painful blue light. Still, it was clearly flailing now. It was unbelievable that Ralir had managed to snap its horn off so cleanly.

He'd have kept attacking the beast - clearly that was a good idea too - but Viltalta's condition didn't look good at all underneath the beast's claws. Wouldn't it be better to at least pull her to the side or something? She clearly didn't have much of an opening to do much from right underneath it, and Ralir was a little terrified of what the beast's hold on her might mean.

He pulled back just a little to get a good idea of what was happening, trying to move past the acute pain that had his head still throbbing. He'd had success attacking its head, so he'd attempt to go for one of the arms holding Viltalta down this time. Their party needed as much help as possible, even if this creature was on its last gasps. He charged forward, lowering his horn toward it again - but it was a lot harder than it looked. He didn't want to hurt Viltalta himself, after all.

He met her gaze - or at least what he could see of it - with wide, panicked eyes.

The other two didn’t respond to her questions and the vibrations coming through the cavern where not consistent. There was definitely something going on wherever the left tunnel went. Tempest couldn't do anything about it now and a fleeting moment of feeling powerless didn’t help. She shook herself and walked closer to the wall. She lifted a hoof and scuffed at the loose stones, a decent sized one came free and clattered to the floor.

She looked down and noticed that it had a drawing on it like the other stones. This time there was a picture of crystals on it. Like a cluster of them together. She picked it up and trotted back to the pool with it. Tempest glanced over at the wall art. The crystal there was a single, did that make a difference? The nouls below didn’t look like the noul on the stone Ysalone found either. That one had markings for hair, those on the wall didn’t. As she approached the other two, she laid down her stone. Both Ysalone and Adahy started trying to figure out the meaning of them. Tempest looked over them and noticed what else was found. Another stone with a figure of a noul...no...this one didn’t have hair and something in the pool that would fit three stones. It had a bizarre shape and three indents. So only three stones.

By the time Tempest sorted through just that, both Ysalone and Adahy had an idea of how the stones should fit into the puzzle. They also already had put all the stones in place. Tempest backed up when everything began to shake. The cage rose from the depths of the pool and she watched as Wanderlust slammed their hooves into the cage. Cracks formed. She watched Ysalone wasted no time and rushed forward. Very well then, Tempest could help with that then.

Tempest jumped in after them and spun around on her heels. She rose her back feet up and slammed them into the side of the cage.

Ralir was tossed aside by a swipe of the beast’s hand, thankfully avoiding its sharp claws.

Draven’s attack fared better. He slammed into the beast’s upraised leg and shattered it!

Partially released, Viltalta tried to struggle free, but her other wing was still held fast. She managed to wrench her head from the ground and fixed her gaze on the beast. Her horn crackled with energy and a spark of lightning shot down from the storm brewing above their heads, snapping another horn from the beast in an explosion of crystal shards.



Ysalone’s balance must have been off, as her strike against the cage made only a tiny crack. But every bit helps, right?

Tempest smashed her back feet against the crystal and a large portion broke off!


Adahy slips might have weakened his kick, but the crystal still cracked around his hoof!

“Thank-you!” Wanderlust shouted through the hole. “Keep going!” Heeding their own words, Wanderlust smashed themself against the barrier, their party following suit behind them.

The leg gave just enough for the ascended to get herself free and do an attack of her own. Draven himself felt spent. Pain ebbed through his being as he stood where he had collided with the leg. Blood dripped into a pool on the ground beneath him, not very big, but enough to know he was still injured. Even his vision was starting to waver, he didn't know how much more he could take.

Raising his head up, eyes masking the pain beneath he turned to take another crack at the beast. Just his pace was slowing and he wasn't going to get too many more good hits in. He would be lucky to get one more before collapsing on the ground. As it was, luck was not on his side as he stumbled on some rubble from the ceiling and collapsed to the ground.

He didn't have the energy to get up and move out of the way if any new attack was hurtled towards the group...

Ralir skidded across the ground just to avoid the creature's sharp claws. He pulled his ears back, though, and surged forward again. It was clear that the beast was struggling, so even if he had been hurt, it only made sense to keep trying. Viltalta seemed to have gained a little of her mobility back, too, which encouraged him to go for the beast's other limb. Surely with Viltalta free, they'd...

Well, they'd fared okay without her. But she'd been right about how important it was to keep the older members of the Homewood alive.

He kicked forward with his front hooves, feeling that his control over them was quite a bit better than his control over his horns - and this way, he could see where he was aiming, too. They were so close.
