Belatedly, Nikki realized that perhaps he should have added an honorfic to Zurin's name. He followed the Haka, using his other arm to lift the long bathrobe so he wouldn't stumble over it. After all, if Jun returned to see he'd fallen and scraped or bruised his knee, he'd be lucky to get out of the house within the next month...

"I'm sure your condition has been hard on you as well, Zurin-san. This is the first time I've met a Haka like yourself," Nikki said, offering a sweet smile to him. In his opinion, Zurin seemed to be a wonderful Haka, and he was admittedly beautiful in his own, exotic way.

Zurin waved one long fingered hand negligently, dismissing Nikki's statement, though it was more than true. "Everyone must experience hardships in their life, one way or another. Some of us are merely dealt a more obvious hand than others." He said with a slight quirk of his lips. Frivolities came so easily to his tongue that it was a wonder he wasn't more of a gossip. Then again, Zurin rarely had the opportunity to use his tongue in public, so perhaps it wasn't that surprising.

Zurin let go of Nikki's arm as they approached a pool, dipping a foot in to check the temperature first and then shedding his robe without any apparent modesty. In truth, Zurin was extremely self conscious about his body, especially the hidden stretches of skin that glowed white, transparent enough to see traceries of veins beneath. Many had been shocked by it before, including Zurin himself when the odd reflection caught him by surprise, but he struggled to maintain an air of disinterest and even confidence in front of his newfound companion.

"Coming in?" He asked the other haka as he settled into the steaming water.

"Of course," Nikki said, his face flushing slightly at Zurin's apparent confidence. Nikki, however, shyly shed his robe, slipping into the water in an attempt to hide his frail body. Only with his robe off was it completely obvious just how fragile the Haka was. There were scars on his knees from simply tripping and getting a tiny scrape, which for most, would heal without a trace. He was very thin, and although not obvious, a slight hint of his ribs could be seen. And it wasn't that he didn't eat. Quite the contrary, Ren had him eat as much as he could, most of it soups, but his stomach would commonly protest.

The Haka had obviously been dealt a hard hand in life, in the shape of his health problems. After he was settled, Nikki could help but shyly glance over at Zurin, silently admiring the seemingly confident Haka. He wished he could be like the Wakahisa, so graceful and beautiful, even despite the supposed flaws. And he was insightful and intelligent too... It made Nikki feel as though he wasn't even worthy of the other's time, it made his stomach knot and squirm with anxiety...

Why was he so nervous around a fellow Haka?

Zurin let the water seep into his skin and relax his muscles, enjoying the poorly hidden scrutiny of his frail companion. At first he had thought the other haka was looking at him with the distaste that he was all too used too, but then Zurin took in Nikki's own scarred and fragile body and his insecurities vanished. It was obvious by the way Nikki's soft cheeks blushed scarlet that the little haka was feeling nothing negative towards Zurin, so the albino settled into the water with ease.

Zurin waited for Nikki to finish fussing, then began his attack. "So, tell me a little about yourself, Nikki. What do you do when your... nursemaids aren't around?"

The question caused Nikki to purse his lips, thinking deeply. Most of the time, getting away from Ren and Jun was never easy, and even when he did he was always under the watching eye of someone else in the household. But his favorite pasttimes came to him without much of a thought.

"I enjoy spending time with my fiance... And riding the horses my family keeps. That's what we do, we breed and train some of the finest horses you can find," Nikki said softly, offering Zurin a shy smile. He was lucky when he could ride them. Most of the time, it was under Yuki's eye that he could ride.

Zurin shifted uncomfortably as he waited for Nikki's reply, a pebble seemed to have lodged itself underneath him and was no doubt bruising his delicate buttocks. He found a smoother spot closer to Nikki, and realized that it was in his favour to create a more intimate atmosphere in order to cement his friendship with the younger haka.

At the mention of a fiance, Zurin frowned, though he quickly erased the expression from his face. He had no reason to be annoyed with the fact that Nikki was engaged, though it meant his attention would be divided. In fact, gossiping about the upcoming marriage could be an opening for Zurin.

"Horses? I unfortunately have never had the opportunity to ride one. My family found me... too weak." That, and they sold them all before I was kneehight, he added mentally. He allowed a troubled look to cross his face, then brightened as if trying to find a more cheerful subject. "You have a fiance? How wonderful for you! I could never..." He trailed off again, again appearing to be struggling with inner pain.

To be honest, Zurin couldn't care less whether or not he had a mate. He had dealt with all those adolescent longings years ago and resigned himself to a lonely but more realistic future. Few gehaka would want one as freakish as Zurin, and his family was far too poor to offer any real prospects anyway.

"Enough about me. Tell me about your fiance." He said, smiling again and leaning in conspiratorially. "Is he handsome? When is the wedding?"

"You should come ride at our stables then!" Nikki said, almost immediately after the mention of Zurin's family finding him unable to ride. "Just recently, my `Nii-san taught a Haka to ride. I think that Haruhi-san really enjoyed it."

But as the discussion turned to Kor, Nikki seemed to flush a vibrant red at the thought of his fiance. Was he handsome? Kor was simply breathtaking. He was dark, and gorgeous, and everything Nikki wasn't. When was the wedding? To be honest, they hadn't decided on a date yet... But to say that out loud seemed so... It would seem like Nikki hadn't put any thought into his marriage.

"Kor... He's everything I'm not. He's dark in color, and breathtaking. He's strong and healthy..." Nikki paused, leaning back and giving a soft sigh. "I'm hoping to be married by the summer. A marriage in winter doesn't sound too smart when you couple it with my health problems..."

Zurin quirked an eyebrow at the younger haka. Was he insane? The slightest fall from horseback could mean inury and major bloodloss for the albino. But then, it was entirely possible that Nikki didn't know of Zurin's blood condition, and Zurin wasn't about to inform him of it. Hastily shaking his head and affecting an embarrassed expression, he came up with a convenient excuse.

"Oh no I could never... to tell the truth I'm quite frightened of the beasts, riding a horse would be terrifying for me. " Not wanting to refuse the valuable invitation to their home, Zurin quickly added; "But I would love to see them at least. From a distance. I hear they're beautiful creatures."

Noting Nikki's flushed face, Zurin realized that the other haka was clearly infatuated with his fiance, something that he was both amused with and annoyed by. The albino smirked interally at the way Nikki became so foolish at the mention of his fiance, but at the same he couldn't squash the impossible longing for his own gehaka to sigh over. Zurin banished the thought from his mind, he had far more important things to deal with than childish romance fantasies.

"Core? He sounds lovely." Zurin sighed deliberately, "Would that I could have one such as he... but I won't steal him off you!" He giggled softly, sharing the silly joke. "A winter wedding does sound romantic though. All that white. But I suppose it really would be awkward, what with the weather. The guests would be frozen before you even kissed."

As he said the last word he arched a finely manicured brow, implying illicit knowledge to the younger, and no doubt impressionable haka.
