A smell of mint, a burst of energy, and the tiny weight of a songbird that wasn't really a songbird filled her with determination. "I'll keep catching these outlying stones. That'll make your race easier!" Half Truth shouted to the racers. 3

Minstrel gently fwaps Dew Drop Sun's flank with his tail, giving her a cheeky grenat and heading back to the start of this leg. Catching sight of the bird that's not a bird he gives a bow. "Thank you, wise one."
He was right on her heels, only just remembering to watch the path.

Dew giggled at the playful thwap of Minstrel's tail. "Oh, thank you!" Dew would have cast an appreciative smile if she felt confident looking anywhere other than the path. Given their somewhat failure just before, however, she didn't want to miss a step or stumble along the way.

Half Truth laughed a bit. "Heh, he called you wise. If he knew the words to that ballad you're chirping, he might change his mind," she said to the bird on her head as she ran along. 6

Minstrel wondered what exactly the other doe meant, he'd have to ask Acorn when they return home, hum her the tune and ask about it. For now he simply listens as he runs, the music filling his legs with energy.

The song was foreign to Dew, but it was nice nonetheless. She appreciated encouragement in any form, though she was missing some of the lyrics and couldn't quite tell if it was the proper song for the occasion.

Breeze's song choked out in a startled peep!, followed quickly by a series of inquisitive and worried-sounding chirps.

The stones, which have been glowing steadily, suddenly cease. After about half a minute, two of them begin to glow again. OOC Unfortunately, you will need to start this leg of your journey over from the beginning. The target number is 15. You have twenty-five OOC minutes from when 1 is posted.

"Once more, with feeling!" Half Truth called. She headed back to the first rock, hoping Wildflower Breeze wouldn't get knocked off her head by the sudden turn. "Hoping you keep the tune up. I find it... encouraging," she said with a glance at Rose. "The song's an old kio song you sing in springtime, you know. When a young buck's thoughts turn to grain. And fruits. And how they compare to the beauty of the does they fancy. The song's... an invitation. To sample the first fruits of springtime, if you know what I mean." 1

The songbird-stag sputtered an outraged series of whistles, hitting the side of Half-Truth's head admonishingly with one wing. Changing tack, he simply sang out a running rhythm this time around. The encouraging tone was still there, but now it without 100% of the innuendo.

Wildflower Breeze's song halted mid-line, and suddenly Dew stumbled. "Oh, no." She halted in her stride and turned back for the first stone.
"Okay. Let's try again." She gave Minstrel a side-long smile before starting off again.
Hearing Half Truth's explanation of the song, she chuckles, though making sure to keep focus on the path. Still. "That does sound encouraging," she teases. She could understand the change of tune, though.

Half Truth chuckled as she once again made sure to hit the outlying rocks. "What can I say, I'm a purveyor of the encouraging. Just ask Rose. I think the word she uses is "incorrigible," but she always smiles when she says it." 3

Minstrel returns Dew Drop Sun's smiles as they head back. "I don't think we've formally met, I'm Minstrel." his introduction ends in a chuckle at the exchange between the other doe and not-bird.
Positions reset he starts off, deciding to hop this time, as it had worked on the last path.
