I CHOOSE CHOICE B

|| Damissan
|| Post: 6
|| HP: 16

      Of course, the moment the betting wheel’s clicking slowed to a stop and it dawned on him fully that he had won, Damis wanted nothing more than to stay in that moment. Cheering surrounded him, and though he didn’t especially need the coin, there was a sweeping thrill to victory for victory’s sake. At his side, Akachi didn’t look surprised in the least—if anything, he seemed assured that that was, ‘Just your luck, Damissan. Perhaps a god does smile on you after all…’ and on the whole, Damis couldn’t have asked for much better.

      Unfortunately, as seemed to be the case throughout this experience, good things were not set to last, and despite his best efforts to stall the change, in no time, the room was fading, the scene shifting. He found himself outside again, and lifted a hand on reflex, shielding his eyes from a suddenly bright sun. He felt disoriented, all at once uncertain of where he’d actually come from though he felt sure he knew a moment before. But no, now someone was shouting at him and there was an animal about and he—

      Damis shook his head rapidly, a frown pinching into place as he ‘remembered’ what had happened, though that didn’t seem right at all. Why would he—?

      “Ooiii, it’s not so hard after all then, is it?”

      Damis’ gaze snapped up and over, to where—Akachi of all people sat astride a janarim, his long, dark legs pinched to the muscled body of the beast, the arch of his back finally steady as the animal came to hold still. And Damissan frowned. His eyes climbed—legs, hips, back, shoulders—to Akachi’s face, white teeth flashing behind his full lips and eyes dancing with oddly familiar, unbridled satisfaction, wild and dancing the line of reckless. But self-assured, like he’d won something.

      Their trainer, voice gruff, barked something at him. Something about focus, and his own uselessness when it came to this and—the instant his eyes settled on the massive, toothed, vicious beast he was supposed to be ‘riding’, Damis took a messy, scurried step back, almost jumping when it snorted. And then growled.

      “Aye, aye, aye, what’s this now? How’ll you ever learn if y’ don’t get. Back. On.” The trainer said it as though he’d done it before, but just looking at the animal, Damis felt as though he must have been under the influence of some sort of intoxicant or was still hallucinating, because not a part of this made sense, and he was evidently wasting his time.

      He shook his head, and cleared his throat, and odd sort of envious abashment heating his cheeks as he glanced again to Akachi, and then back to the trainer. “No, I…I don’t…actually think that this is a good idea anymore. I must have been mad at the time. I’ll…” Again to Akachi, “…leave this to those better at it, I think.”

I CHOOSE CHOICE A

|| Naqenni
|| Post: 6
|| HP: 3

      Naqenni watched, pretending mostly not to be interested. She wasn’t that much so, but it was oddly mesmerising, to see the game of chance tick, tick, tick along. Fate was a strange and unpredictable thing that she didn’t pretend to have all the answers to. She knew only her own overarching destiny, and that was all that really mattered. There was an odd sputter of jealousy, though, when it came to show that whatever it was, Ku had won.

      It could have been her.

      That felt needling, somehow, but as the others cheered, she fiercely reminded herself that it just as easily might not have been her, and petty games of which side a flattened rock tossed would land on were just that. Petty and time wasting. She didn’t have long to dwell on it. Like before, the transition came without any means to control it, and in its aftermath, she found herself confused. Tense. Scowling. Where was she—?

      But as soon as the barking voice of an older cousin filtered in, she remembered, and she felt her pulse give a stutter. The tribe had come across several janarim. She had found them, and they’d managed to bring a number of them in to keep in the long term for training. Of course, she’d wanted to be among the first to learn to ride.

      The process, though, had proved more difficult than she’d bargained for. It should have been easy. Or, if not easy, than at least managable. But days had stretched into nearly a week and all she and her sister Ceylinae, who had wanted to take part also, had to show for it was a number of bruises and scrapes.

      That, at least, had been the case.

      As though prompted by this thought alone, however, and the small comfort she took in the fact that her sister, too, was struggling, a shout of triumph drew her attention, and in the moment her gaze landed on Cey — astride the beast, steady, and finally keeping herself there — the backlash was immediate. Jealousy. Rage. Denial. That couldn’t be so. It had been her idea, and Naqenni opened her mouth, ready to say something—anything.

      But a moment after that, she didn’t even want to. She didn’t want to look at her sister—not until she’d mastered this task herself. Not until she was astride one where she belonged. Immediately, she set to trying again.

I CHOOSE CHOICE B

Whelp, that one was a wash as he took another large hit. Things weren't going as well as he had thought. Frowning as things changed once again to Janarim riding lessons, this is where Regale would have come in. But looking around, the crimson and gold beast was no where to be seen. It would have made things so much simpler, but a shame it wasn't to be. Instead he was placed with a beast that wasn't as easy going. This one was always giving him an evil look and never did what he was told. Frowning even more, Draven looked over as his partner,

The punk had done it on his first try! Well that was a load of Janarim poo. They had to have given him lessons before hand to get this so fast. Turning away, he didn't know what to think besides glare at the one he was supposed to ride. But in a way he was happy, kinda, for his partner for doing something, even if it didn't seem worth the effort to continue. Not with this unruly Janarim he was given. Regale would have been so much better of a riding mount...

I CHOOSE CHOICE C

|| Jakkoa ღ ❅
|| Post: 6
|| HP: 3

      Jakkoa’s gold eyes followed the spin of the betting wheel with private intensity. It wasn’t his sort of bet. Raw chance favored no one without the addition of other factors and that did not appeal to his sense of competition in the way other things did. But it didn’t stop it from having an edge of intensity to it, particularly when filled with a room of anxious bodies, all waitin, all knowing that one, but only one would be favored by the final drop.

      When the ball finally gave its final click, dropping into the fated hole, he felt a temporary lull — quiet as a breezeless night while the results sank in for everyone around them — and then came the uproar. The noise, the congratulations, among other things, and he felt far more satisfied than was earned by his participation. It was ‘just chance’ after all, but it still felt like victory.

      Teya, too, was grinning, but—something gave him pause, and immediately, he took a step forward for the table, as though to pre-empt whatever it was that that look meant, for he didn’t trust it. Too late, though. Somehow, she was already taking up the winnings herself—all of them, in complete contrast to their deal—and pocketing them, ‘explaining’ that it had been her idea.

      Jakkoa’s lips crimped in a sneer, uglier than any look he was accustomed to pinning anyone with, and he did not wait for her to finish explaining. The exact words didn’t matter, and under other circumstances, perhaps it would have crossed his mind that she was only teasing, just jesting with him, fully ready to deal out his share after getting a rise out of him. But somehow, here, he knew that not to be the case. He knew with absolute certainty that she was every bit as serious as she sounded, and she was cheating him. So he reached out, snatching up her wrist in a rough jerk and dragging her back near to him.

      “I do not know what you think you are d—”

      The room rippled. He tensed.

      “No. You cannot—this portion isn’t over yet!”

      Except that it was, and by the time the new scene fell fully into place, Jak couldn’t remember precisely where he’d come from or what was happening. He did, however, feel furious. Wronged, somehow, over some lingering, dissipating event. The shouting of some raspy-voiced farmer pulled him from his musings, if not from his mood, and he scowled forward at them.

      What was he doing here…?

      “Are ya gettin’ on again or not, girl?

      Jakkoa’s eyes narrowed, flitting from the man in his face, to the beast — a large, only barely ‘tame’ looking janarim — at his side, and beyond that. His shoulders stiffened. Teya. She looked, much to his surprise and chagrin, to have finally gotten the task of mounting one under control, and Jak—he grimaced. Though this was ‘his’ idea, all of it felt wrong. For whatever reason, it had seemed this would be enjoyable, something new to try, to prove that he could, but it was not going well. It was the furthest thing from enjoyable. The trainer made miserable company, the task was unrewarding at best and near impossible at worst.

      And somehow, the fact that Teya had managed it before him seemed to push it all to the final snapping point. He wanted nothing to do with this anymore. He didn’t feel like falling again and again to the dirt, and watching her best him only made it worse.

      If he decided he wasn’t interested, however, then it wasn’t forfeit. It was just exercising his right to refuse wasting his time any longer.

      “I’ve changed my mind,” he quipped. “Keep your animal. I have better things to do.”

      With the words he turned, and left.

||Takoda||
||Post 6||
||HP: 21-2 = 19 ||

Takoda felt surprised to see that Jacinthus had won in this game, though he wasn't entirely sure what exactly he had won. He wanted to congragulate him but the world was already shifting.

Suddenly he found himself atop a strange beast who was in all ernest trying to buck him off. Too shocked by this sudden development he was thrown his body hitting the ground with a aching thud. Takoda was going to feel that for the next couple of days....

The beast stalked off obviously not interested in him any longer, perhaps that was a good thing..he didn't exactly want to end up dinner for it. Suddenly Jacinthus came into sight, although he was struggling with his own janarim he managed to stay on before finally the beast setteled down and accepted its new rider.

"Come on now...it was your idea to train these things.." Jacinthus spoke with a small bit of laughter in his voice. Takoda had take pause, it had been his idea? What would posses him to ... Getting up he dusted himself off, his mate then proceeded to show off his skills upon conquering the skill of riding the janarim. He felt jealous, how come his mate found it so easy to train? Wel of course there was his timid nature...so perhaps the beast just didn't like him because of that?

Sighing he forced a smile, waved to his lover as he proceeded to continue prancing about on the creature. He supposed he would have to try to get back on it...

Kanika
HP: 5 hp

Kanika didn’t care about these bets, good for her friend if they’d won but she still wanted nothing to do with it. The idea of training however over took her and Kanika tried hard. Her mothers had taught her that practice made perfect. When the same friend was able to ride the Janarim however, Kanika was in disbelief. She was better than this person, had trained harder. She hated them, hated this so called friend.

HP: 11 hp

When her friend took the money, Alassiel was in complete disbelief. This was supposed to be a so called friend? She’d won and was entitled to her prize. It was all quickly forgotten however when Alassiel settled into her element, riding. He friend was still there, also training but she felt like she would be the first to be able to ride the Janarim. Except she wasn’t first, this friend was and Alassiel burned with envy.

Zandala
HP: 13 hp

He friend had won, good for him. Zandala didn’t gamble and didn’t care. What she did care about however was training to ride this janarim. She trained hard and fully expected to see results and when they didn’t she grew a bit frustrated. Why couldn’t she get this and her friend could? Zandala knew her strength and weaknesses, why was she trying so hard to do something she knew she was not good at? Better to simply stop now and focus on something else.

Kian - 10 HP - Post 6

Perhaps he could have won, but the hybrid was still content without risking it. Who knew what would have happened should he have lost? There truly was no telling in this place...as the crowds congratulated them Kian waited for the shift to occur. Any second now.

The next thing he knew he was training to ride a Janarim. "Why..." Frowning Kian decided he might as well give it a shot. This was the first time he had a chance at being near such a beast. For the briefest of moments he had to ponder...how would Talisia handle it? Surely she could have easily won the creature over and would be riding it even now.

And then for that person to get it before him? Kian's face burrowed into a frown. I'm not the type to back down so easily. He would get the hang of this and then they would see! He was not someone to give up easily nor could many tasks daunt him. Gritting his teeth, Kian moved forward with determination.

Nadiya - 18 HP

Yes, yes, yeeeeees! Twisting on her feet, Nadiya pumped a fist into the air. She knew it! My intuition always comes through for me in the end! Squeeing a bit on the inside the girl smiled at the crowd. "Thanks!" She winked towards her friend and got one last laugh in before the room shifted.

Why was she here again?

What had just happened? She swore she had hit the lottery, but this was not in the plans. "I didn't want a Janarim." Yet, here she was once more with a friend. They were trying to train the beasts, but Nadiya kept slipping all over the place. Plus they were so much bigger than her! I probably look like a snack to them. Swallowing, Nadiya braced herself for some more bruises.

It was then that she heard the stream of praises. "Oh?" Turning, her amber eyes widened to see how easily her friend had tamed their beast. Her gut clenched as the praises seemed nonstop. Were they really going to soak it all up like that? I suppose I get no credit then. Who else had helped her partner through all of this?

Maybe eventually she would get the hang of it, but for now Nadiya felt defeated. Still, what else could a good friend do but support their friend's happiness? At least one of them had managed to finally get somewhere. Despite the shadow that flickered over her heart, Nadiya still managed a small smile. Better one than none~
