To say that the Demon was annoyed was a VAST understatement. He didn't care what was going on around him. all that mattered was that this beetle died. His blade ERUPTED in swirling black light as he charged froward with reckless abandon and hacked diagonally from his right shoulder before even gripping the sword with his left hand, the afterimage barely being able to keep up with his movements. He was done with beetles, done with wandering aimlessly, and done with this ******** Labyrinth of a dungeon. it was POINTLESS for the thing in his head to whisper at him if it was just going to MOCK him the entire time he was listening. all the trials and tribulations he was going through just to get to ONE THING was worse than when he had decided to help tame the ******** GLOOMQUEEN. hell THAT was more involved and varied than this. SHE was a THREAT this was an exercise in futility and tedium that he NEVER could have predicted. it should be IMPOSSIBLE for this little to happen in one are, but here he was slaughtering his thousandth beetle to show that it COULD be done. He had to go on, though. His ******** pride demanded it! why not?! he'd already scoured this area for longer than should be required, why stop ******** here?!

Alyx' blade rent the air with its motion. After he'd lifted the beetle into the air, he slashed twice, once from the top left to the bottom right, and then from the top right to the bottom left, drawing an 'x' in his first real use of the 'cross' part of cross slash. His last attack pierced the beetle precisely in the center of the 'x' and blasting it away as Rota completely obliterated what was left of it. Alyx took a deep breath as his vision returned to normal, and the rage left his body. The only way out was forward. He and Rota had to make it to the end of this place in order to get out. There was no question to it. No matter how many doors that they passed, they couldn't take that easy way out. It was just not in their nature. Anyway, Alyx was enjoying this.

With the beetle a chunky stew before them he began to walk towards the exit, breathing heavily in rage. He didn't care if it got back up at this point. If it did he would fill it full of so many holes that it would go to the special hell where people whistle as they fall to it. There were a lot of hells.

Another... ********... Beetle. Alyx was trying very hard to keep his head up, and to keep his spirit focused on the mission, but how in the ethernet was he supposed to do that when they just kept throwing the same damn thing at him? He sighed and ran his hand down the length of his sword, charging the blade for his first and hopefully last attack against this newest 'threat'. He walked forward, too overpowered by the weight of ennui that was almost palpable in the air to bother running. He raised his sword and slashed his blade, rapidly drawing an 'x' and then crossing it at a 45 degree angle, drawing a compass rose in the beetle's face.

Rota followed Alyx as he got an intense feeling of Deja vu as they ran into another beetle. His blade flared black on principle and repetition at this point. He witnessed Alyx making a pretty bullseye on the beetle's face and he decided to stab it right in the center. His blade sang in the air as the afterimage harmonized right behind. It slammed into the face of the beetle at high speeds and then the second slam hit immediately afterward. He was really, REALLY done with beetles.

Alyx and Rota had vansquished another beetle, and were marching victoriously onward, determined to finish their holy and noble quest. He was filled with the spirit of adventure, and he hoped that his brother-in-arms was feeling that energy, too. They were close. He knew it. They were going to find and defeat the boss of this place, and then they would be free of its challenges. And rich. And powerful. And legendary. They would be set to carve a path through the floors above them. After this much training, and this much loot, they would be set to do absolutely anything that they wanted to. They were already more powerful than anything on the first floor. By the time that they finished this, Alyx suspected that they would be ready to face the second floor and take it by storm. They would be gods.

Surprising absolutely no one they had decimated the beetle. He began moving towards the next room once again. These beetles didn't stand a chance against them, Hell version or not.

Alyx followed Rota into the next room and was confronted with a sight that was honestly not that much of a surprise. Two beetles. It was expected that there was some unseen gimmick with them, and Alyx wasn't too worried about it, honestly. They'd been able to handle anything that this dungeon had thrown at them, and after the gigantic chimeras that they'd dealt with, two ordinary beetles, gimmicked though they were, were more of a distraction than a threat. It was back to defense for Alyx, as he let the party member best equipped to deal with these things prepare for his slaughter. This was a nice place. It brought out the best in people.

More beetles. Rota didn't even know if he should be mad at this point. It wasn't something that he had any true control over, and its not like they were a threat. They were speed bumps, nothing more nothing less. As Rota's blade flared black he began thinking about the little girl that he considered his little sister: Anna-Mia. In his haste and wanderlust he had spaced out his duty to her. Where was she? Was she doing well? Did she happen to find any of her 'family' here like he thought she might be able to? It just rose too many questions all at once. he knew that once he got out of this hell hole, he would have to either find her, or failing that give her things to get her started. He was glad that she had told him her strengths. There were a great many tasks the villagers had, and sending a little girl to choose between them was not a decent prospect. He refocused on the Beetle ahead of him and slashed it down its body, the afterimage coming right behind.

Alyx kept his defense up and ready as Rota destroyed the first beetle in the melee. As Alyx kept his eyes on the situation, he noticed that the light that had comprised the slain beetle was coalescing into two new forms. So it was more of the same. No bother. The smaller monsters were not threats in and of themselves, they were just irritating. With the exception of the mini-rats, he'd not been challenged by any of them. Those rats, though, were formidable opponents. On top of what appeared to be rather aggressive tactics, they carried a poison in their bite that was more of a threat to Rota than probably anything else in this dungeon so far. Alyx wasn't too worried about the beetles, though. He was mostly just pumping as much experience into his block skill as he possibly could.

Mini Beetles. this seemed to be their preferred gimmick, for better or worse. regardless he was still going to kill them. He decided to go for the weaker of the two to build up some stamina for himself. He dashed over to the beetle and rose his blade tip down high above his head, and began to plunge it deep into the center of the beetle.

Alyx saw Rota plunge Neo Abyssian into one of the beetles, and it was not quite dispatched. Alyx would clean up the scraps. It wasn't often that Rota didn't completely kill something, let alone one of the spawns from a splitting monster. That's fine, though. Everyone has a bad roll once in a while. Alyx drew Gloomshard and swiped the blade at the wounded beetle, leaving Rota free to deal with the other mobs in the room. He wondered what was going to come next, and he felt his blood warming at the prospect of glorious combat. This right here was nothing but a practice match. An exhibition. Soon, they would face the real monsters, and Alyx couldn't wait for it.

Rota...hadn't killed the beetle. these things were too resilient for their own good sometimes, in this case prolonging their death. He saw that Alyx had the situation readily handled so he turned his attention to the other mini beetle. He let his blade flare black as his attentions turned to that unfortunate beetle. As he swung his blade, the afterimage followed closely behind and he brought it down in the tip of its horn to act as a guide in cutting it in half vertically.
