1 Durable Gloomiron ingot
-into-
Name: Rookie Gloomiron OHSS Crafted By: Rota Type: One Hand Straight Sword Durability: 2 Stats: +2 damage Upgrade: 7/8
Rota placed another durable ingot into the vice. With how the sword had been swinging lately, he felt like this would likely be the last he could upgrade this OHSS. He grabbed his hammer and began to get underway on the ingot.
So, now that all conventionally definite colors have been discussed, you're of course gonna ask me if there are any that are more ambiguous. Well aren't you? That's what I thought. Turns out there are two. Black and White. These specific colors, no one has a clue about. For every breakthrough ever made, they find a contradiction around the corner. As such, it is theorized that these two colors are neutral, and that any entity that possesses this light can manipulate it to represent any known light. It can be violent, intuitive, peaceful, expansive, can sustain, be authoritative, or any combination you can think of. It is up to the will of the user to define what it means to them.
Rota pulled the sword out for what he felt would be the last time in this fashion. It would be sad, in a way to see it go. But he knew he had to, because Abyssian II needed more power. He sliced the ingot, and watched as the green shards slowly struggled their light inside the OHSS. That would not be something that would repeat. This sword, was full.

Next was a choice that Rota was uneasy making, but ultimately had no choice. Only a greatsword was worthy or suitable to be absorbed into Abyssian II,but this was a sword made from one of that beasts' victims. part of him didn't feel right about using the sword in this way. There was no other option though. It had to be done. Rota put the Straight sword he had lovingly upgraded into the vice, and began to besiege it with his hammer.
In this way, one could see demons like us as Black. While we are generally seen as violent, we have shown great brotherhood and creativity to not only members of our own race, but to all races of sentient life. We have our share of fanatics and vengeful members that bring us as a whole down, but is that not true of all races? We all have proverbial zits we would like to pop and forget about, but we can't say that the pimple is the sum of the face.
The hammer came down and down and down. The fractures deepened with every tortuous swing until he felt it was ready. Rota grabbed Kristoffer's sword, and held it high in the air before swinging it downward into his own creation. It shattered into a sea of green light, which began swirling around the room like a nebula as it absorbed into the Greatsword. The new upgrading process had begun.

1 Durable Ingot & 1 Exquisite Ingot
-into-
Name: Rookie Gloomiron THSS Crafted By: Kristoffer Type: Two Hand Straight Sword Durability: 8 Stats: +4 roll1 +12 damage Upgrade: 1/13
Rota was left with one durable ingot to get out of the way after his one hand sword had been filled. He decided to pair it with the only Exquisite ingot he had to even things out. looking at everything this meant that he would be able to upgrade Kristoffer's sword 4 times past the initial sacrifice, including this one. It was unfortunate he would not be able to upgrade it further, but there were some ingots he wanted to hold on to. He place the two ingots in the vice and began beating them with the hammer. Rota couldn't recall anything more of his father's speech which was weird considering he knew there was at least one last thing to it. Hopefully it would come to him. The durable ingot fell to his blows much faster than the Exquisite ingot. If this did nothing else, it gave him appreciation for the difference in the quality of the ingots he was making. in fact, he reasoned that he should never in any sane context use anything less than flawless ever again save for fodder. He needed to hold himself to a standard of quality, one that he, Alyx, and any future customers could rely and depend on. it would give him an edge over all those who would try to trump him. some would settle, but he would not. When the Exquisite finally admit defeat, he took up the borrowed blade and swung at the ingots, shattering each into the green lights as before. It rapidly rushed to the blade and coated it before absorbing into it.

Rota was done with the outliers, so now he could focus on the ones that were at least in pairs. This meant all four of his flawless ingots and both exceptional ingots. While they were a notable step DOWN from Exquisite, they were leagues AHEAD Durable and Strong. two Flawless ingots went into the vice to be beset by his hammer. It was almost frightening how such a green action involved so much violence. He supposed it was necessary, but what if it wasn't? what if there were more peaceful ways of harnessing the light from materials? it was odd that he was thinking about the inherent feelings of things that could not comprehensibly emote, but by the same token he now had a child with him that was made of the same materials he was savaging now. That put things in perspective a bit for him. If these things were made of light, was there any separation between him and the ingots he was bludgeoning? Maybe he was reading too much into it. He finally wore them down enough and grabbed Kristoffer's sword. He cut horizontally through them, and watched the sword grip and absorb the light as it passed through each. It was a subtle process, but it was there.

With the deed done, Rota placed the final two ingots into the vice and began beating them with his hammer. Flawless was the lowest quality he would allow, hands down. He owed it to the light that objects possessed to make them as useful as he possibly could. He felt like such a snob for thinking such thoughts, but doesn't EVERYONE want to be the best they can be? Why should the materials be treated any different? When cooking with the best ingredients, how upset does one get when they burn the meal? When working with building, how upset does one get when they realize after finishing that they measured wrong enough that the object doesn't function as intended? When painting a room, how upset does one get when they find out they painted it the wrong way or color and have to do it over? Same philosophy. It is a testament to the quality that he wished to achieve: make the best ingredients, so he could make the best end result. When the ingots were properly tenderized, he slashed them through with Kristoff's sword, watching the light absorb into the blade again.

2 Exceptional Ingots
-into-
Name: Rookie Gloomiron THSS Crafted By: Kristoffer Type: Two Hand Straight Sword Durability: 8 Stats: +4 roll1 +12 damage Upgrade: 4/13
Rota placed two Exceptional ingots into the vice. These were a quality he adored for a long time, and now while still important to him they had been blown out of the water. As he beat them with the hammer, he thought again on how far he had come as a smith. He had started out, struggling to make even standard quality ingots, but now the skill ceiling was an ever rising elevator of success. There were seemingly no limits he could not break. It was humbling in a way. To know one has such potential can be a massive eye opener, and not always positive. For Rota, there was a bit of a burden behind it. To know one can produce quality the likes that people could perceive as betters in the craft call awesome is no small realization. It was a mark of pride, sure, but also a shackle that he must wear at all times. Skill is a tricky mistress in that sense. If one is known for quality, people have an expectation of that quality on a consistent basis. When one doesn't meet that perceived standard, they are vilified for it. However when one doesn't know your standard, no one expects anything from you. It is a double edged sword that Rota felt he was beginning to grab by the blade. He finally beat the ingots into submission and cut them in two with Kristoff's sword. The green light flowed into the blade and returned to normal.

Name: Abyssian II The next evolution of the Legendary blade Abyssian. This new incarnation was enhanced by Alchemical Silver which coats the serrated edges. In the center the black and red metal still festers, despite the exact center having a string of high undecipherable runes of silver. Even the mightiest of defenses quaver beneath its might Crafted By: Rota Emptiet Abyssian Type: Two Hand Straight Sword Durability: 13 Stats: +13 roll1 +25 damage +5 damage to enemies with armor or damage reduction Upgrade: 1/29
Rota placed Kristoffer's sword in the vice pommel down. It was an impressive blade, and the original artistry was nothing short of grand, but he knew the time to assimilate it was now. For the sake of he, his ideals, and the people he kept company with, Abyssian II needed to grow. He struck the sword with the hammer once and only once. It didn't even scuff it, but that wasn't the Demon Artisan's goal. it was only to send a message to the light within that his purpose was one of growth, not of violence. This was important as he put down his hammer and picked up his blade. He swung Abyssian II full force into Kristoffer's sword, shattering it with one stroke. All weapons perish that fall before the demon blade. It was undeserved, but necessary. The blade exploded into green shards of light, hanging in the air. Rota heard a faint sound emanating from his sword as the light flowed into Abyssian II purposefully. Once the whole blade was coated in Green he watched as the light began to spasm and then turned Black, to be absorbed a moment later.
Maybe it's because we Demons are made of Black That we can achieve such eclectic goals. Nobody decided for us what we could do...what we could be, or what being a Demon even meant. I know you're only a Half-Demon, but this applies to you as much as any pure blood. I can't tell you how to be a Demon, just as my father couldn't, and HIS father couldn't. I can only give you vague guidance to help you find what being a Demon means to YOU. If you want to be a Demon Warrior, then the tower is the only place I know that can help you. I can only tell you how to be a Demon Artisan. You always say 'You tell me I'm a Half-Demon, but what does that mean?' You wanna find out what it means? You'll find your answers in the Tower.

It was finally time. Rota could ignore it no longer. He beckoned for Little One, and began making his way to his mineshaft. He needed coal desperately. He had no idea if whatever land lie beyond the dungeon had coal, or if not if he could even get back to here. He had to make this session out of all others count. He would not settle this time. He was here with his kid for the long haul. He limbered himself up, put on his harvest ring and brandished his new pick axe.

Rota had already struck a mini lode. He was glad this sort of thing was so common to find now. Little One had only found a rock, but he patted him on the head. "Don't worry Little one. The process gets easier with time. Sometimes it gets bleak if your luck stays poor, but you must not lose hope in the process. persevere and good things will come." he knew that process all too well. He had broken down a great many times in this mine shaft he had made for himself. He never stayed disheartened for long though. It always guided him to victory in the end. He took up his pick again and swung with conviction, Little One matching his rhythm.

The lode increased in quality as Rota continued along. That was excellent. he needed all the coal and iron he could get his hands on. Little one was still gathering rocks, but he needed to focus as much as possible on the main goal of just spending as much time in here as he could stand. His picking matched the beat of his heart ad his mouth dimly lit the cave with the embers he released with each breath.

The quality of the lode hadn't dropped, and Little One had found his first piece of coal! This mining expedition was doing very right by Rota at this point. He had no complaints so far so he continued to dig to his hearts content in the dim caves he had dug himself, the only lighting being the outside meager light that seeped in and the flames coming from his demonic maw.

And the quality hit a dead crawl. All Rota was able to salvage was one piece of coal. Hopefully this was not a trend that would continue, as he also needed the iron if he was going to upgrade Alyx's blade and repair the unfinished blade. he was confident that it could be salvaged, but he didn't have materials that he could sacrifice to heal it up. All of his ingots left were too high of quality to just scrap like that. it would be an injustice to the material to use it in that manner. Rota would only scrap high grade materials if he had no other alternative. And if that were true, that would mean that his skill as an Artisan had far exceeded his own expectations. maybe he would get to that point someday, but he needed to focus on his mining right now.

And as soon as he was out, Rota was back to rolling in it once more. The fickleness of his mine was not lost on him, but he needed to trust it regardless of how he felt about it. At least he was gaining some of both things he needed rather than only one or the other. If he could keep that up, he might escape this mine with an acceptable level of materials.

No sooner had Rota brought down his pick again than he had found the MOTHER of all Lodes. Both he and Little One were practically drowning in spoils of this find. This was the success that he had promised Little One, and he was glad they got to experience it. Feeling more invigorated than ever before he continued to tunnel through this mine, hoping that this Lode continued into a vein. It was a foolish hope, but one nonetheless.

And back to the status quo. Rota didn't mind, he was already rolling in materials so far from this expedition. That Mother Lode afforded him some dry spells for a while. He was then reminded that he had some Autumnal Ale still left over. Once he had hit halfway he would down those both and finish off this expedition in style. At the moment though, he continued at the normal rate, ready and waiting to strike his fortune.
