{ THE CORRIDOR OF MADNESS }

[ Room 3 ]

After exiting the space with the levitating rooms, Clara found herself blind again? No, instead of being blind, it was just too dark to see. Clara, frustrated, kicked the "walls" around her. She hated not being able to see.

Area 3 -> 7

Now Maebe was getting somewhere. And it was about time too - that voice was still threatening from a distance, always just on the edge of her ability to understand. She needed to move quicker to try and get away from it.

[ Maze Number: 1 -> 3 ]

Oh good a maze. Chel absolutely despised mazes, because she was terrible at them. Five minutes in and she was already stumbling on walls, having banged her foot on a rock.

Hopefully she could get out of here quickly. She didn't want to run into a minotaur or any s**t like that.

She noticed that blonde npc girl wander off down the hall farther than her. Oh s**t. So she was real?? Awkward.

Space 13 -> Space 16

He plodded along for a long time after that, alternately relishing and cursing the silence. Yet again, the quiet made it feel almost like he was just wandering through some dark space back home or at school. But after that place with those weirdo pools, Rojo didn't trust the absence of sound. He had been raised by many, many creatures, and even when he went exploring by himself, vibrant, joyous noise was never far away. He thought about bringing some of it here, of singing a celebratory tune or playing his ribs like a xylophone, but quickly decided it would do no good.

Rojo continued on.

[ Room 5 --> 3 ]

After taking many steps forward (for what felt like forever), Clara suddenly felt a gush of wind as she was pushed backward. The wind finally faded and Clara felt like she'd barely traveled forward only to be pushed back. She hoped it wouldn't be like this the entire time.  

[Inle-roo]

[16 - 19]

Up ahead in the distance, Taima could make out the smallest, faintest spot of brightness. She hurried towards it, eager to get out.

7 -> 11

Maebe brushed her hands against the walls, feeling as though familiar fingers had done the same not so long ago. She stopped, and tried to find the warmth that was missing in her own fingertips. It was a phantom warmth, but still there.

Laughter interrupted her reverent moment, and she swiveled around, raising the trident prongs up defensively. "Who's there?" She did it again, cursing under her breath at the instinctive reaction. But she didn't harp on it for long, because she recognized the voice when it spoke.

"You're all alone. Just like you should be. Isn't that better?" She laughed again.

Maebe stood up straight, turned again, and started to walk forward without a response. It was her own voice, speaking to her. Her own voice that whispered insecurities and dangled them like carrots.

"Are you falling in love, Maebe Grace Bertrand?"

Maebe laughed, an echo of the voice in her head. "You know better than that."

"You're right. We both do. There's no room for love in that lump of poison that beats in your chest. No room for anything. No room for anyone. You're just going to break their hearts, and leave them disappointed. Isn't that exciting?"

Once again, Maebe stopped responding, but the dark look on her face was enough. The voice did nothing but laugh, all the way through the corridor. She laughed, because she didn't need to convince Maebe of anything, really. They both understood the truth of the matter. They both knew what the future held.

Despite the pained look on her face, Maebe echoed her own voices laughter. Hers was tinged with bitter regret.

Finn Enter- Area 1

He tumbled, slid, fell, and ran his way through the last corridor, with all of it's puzzling, moving rooms.

And on the other side? Darkness. Utter darkness. He was used to being half-blind, but full blind? He wasn't too keen on that prospect.

Keeping his breathing even as he felt that slight bit of tightness in his chest that suggested he was about to start panicking, he began to slowly move forward, his hands stretched out in front of him.

"You couldn't save him." A voice, from out of nowhere, made Finn jump, completely startled.

"...Mom??" He finally managed to say, just as the voice continued on. "You couldn't save him, and then, you couldn't let it go. You tried to move on, and you couldn't. You left me. Your own mother! You left me alone and---"

".....Shut the ******** up." He growled, in the direction of the voice, before walking much faster to get away from her.  

[Smerdle]

Space 16 -> Space 17

Hey.

The calaca had grown accustomed to the click-clack-click of his feet against the stone floor and he was so entranced by their rhythm that he didn't hear this new voice at first.

Rojo. Skully. Dumbass.

The skeleton's head rose as he paused. That voice was uncomfortably familiar. Despite his fond memories of home and his childhood, he had plenty of not so great memories too. Everything had a downside.

"Chio."

That's right. I'm glad you remember me. Looks like we're all alone here. No one to save you when I dismantle your scrawny a** and tape your parts all over this cave.

"Y...you're not even here."

How do you know that? I could be right around the corner... waiting. I might have even stolen your clothes...

Rojo didn't hear anymore after that. He held his hands up in front of his face and ran until all was silent once more.

Area 5 - Area 3

A few steps forward, and Finn found himself feeling slightly confused. The voice nattering away at him certainly didn't help the situation. Frowning to himself, he spoke up again. "I though I told you to shut the ******** up."

Turning around, he went back the way he came a bit, feeling completely lost and turned around.

[ Maze Number: 3 -> 6 ]

Chel began hearing Evan in her ear. Telling her she wasn't worthy of Deus. That Chel had been too cruel to Nevada, that she was a monster for not caring. How her happiness meant nothing to him- all that stuff he'd said in the desert earlier was a lie.

"Well I already knew that," she grunted.

Jack and Finn began joining in too, mocking her for actually thinking they were friends. Telling her they'd never really liked her at all.

"You guys are a real bundle of joy, you know that?"

[ Room 5 --> 3 ]

Clara once again felt that she'd made progress when she was yet again set back. Again. Was it really going to happen every time? She punched the dark space beside her. From what it sounded like, people seemed to be progressing, but she wasn't.  

[Inle-roo]

[19 - Exit]

Finally, finally, Taima was free of dark corridors and once more on her way up to the top of the tower. She took a moment to reorient herself, shaking her wings out to reassure herself that, yes, she did have enough room to do so, before moving on.

11 -> 12

One more step closer. One step farther away from the voice that was her, mocking every step she'd made before she'd come into the tower. Maebe couldn't get away from that last chamber fast enough.
