Dianno stood from his seat among the healers, taking a few awkward steps backwards before he bumped into a table and the green hatchling caught up to him. "Oooph!" Her head thumped against his injured chest and only the presence of the healer hissing 'hold still!' kept him from striking the green. Shaff what they'd said! His chest hurt and here another came along just to stick it's nose in his wounds!
He was starting to hate dragons, greens in particular.

The blazing green didn't seem to notice that Dianno was in pain, but it didn't escape her that he was irritated with her. She let out a soft snort, but pulled back nonetheless and wandered off again. The curious air to her was gone as she wandered back through the male candidates. Her snout bumped gently against each pair of legs as she passed them. Not hers. No, not hers either. Balchas was bumped into as well, but instead of moving on the hatchling stilled and raised her head to look at him. Mine! Her voice was strong within his head, a warm presence that conveyed her concern. You are cold! Cold and wet! I am sorry, I made you wait. Your Casinth is sorry. She had a certain urgency in her movements as she moved behind him and gently pushed him with her head. Let's go now! I am hungry and you are cold. I will eat and you will warm up.

"Cai, Journeyman Healer." Oh Faranth. Cai rolled his eyes and gave an exasperated sigh. "Shaff if I know! I can't imagine that Vidith or Meeli would put the hatchlings in danger on purpose?! Shaff! Burying eggs in the sand... that's tunnelsnake bait right there if I ever heard of any. Green flits bury their eggs. That's why they almost always get eaten. Now I doubt a tunnelsnake could burrow into the Hatching Sands without being noticed by something but still, there are so many things that could happen to an egg. Shards and Shells what if one of you stepped on it just right and crushed it?! Or who knows if there's a hatchling under the sand right now, drowning because the sands are so wet and heavy it can't claw it's way out? Why they let that shaffing queen bury them I will never understand but don't you believe for a moment I won't be speaking to someone about THAT as well!"
As for Becka's concerns he thought a moment. "There have to be options." He looked down and met Genith's eyes once again, fighting not to get lost in them. "Weyrling training is temporary. I'm not saying we skip it entirely. I'm not going to 'wing it' with Genith's health. But they can't force us to do something we don't want to do. As for our dragons..." He'd seen the same things as she. Dragons wanted to fight thread. At least, it had seemed that way when those who couldn't had to be held back by the will of others. "I will come up with something. There has to be a solution." Cai wasn't about to give up just because of an instinctual road block. He just needed a clear head and time to think things through.

"Are we doing ranks?" Wen asked idly, giving a slight smile as the healer ranted and gestured, words strong and passionate. "I was with the guard, so thread is something I'm prepared to face."

Balchas wasn't even looking at the green anymore, not until it came back over to the boys and began bumping legs, did this one want to bruise everyone's shins?
He backed up as she came towards him but she bumped him too, he looked over at the boy next to him to see what he would do when the dragon bumped him too but...
Suddenly the rain and the sand and even the soreness of his arm vanished, he was filled with a warmth that spread from the inside out. Mine! Balchas looked down at rainbow eyes, but what about Bacha... but for the moment he couldn't think about his sister, all that was in his mind were Casinth's words. You are cold! Cold and wet! I am sorry, I made you wait. Your Casinth is sorry Balchas sighed but this time it was happy "Never be sorry Casinth, never!" He chuckled as she moved behind him and gently pushed onwards, he went with it, not fighting her urging. Let's go now! I am hungry and you are cold. I will eat and you will warm up "Yes, you need food and we need to be out of this rain" he said, striding out towards the feeding tables, Casinth easily keeping pace, moving to his side now instead of pushing from behind. Balchas did spare one glance backwards and gave a guilty but incredibly happy grin to his sister who was surely watching.
Once at the feeding tables Casinth stopped, glaring at a certain tiny blue, she drew herself up as tall as she was she was bigger, much bigger than Genith. I don't like you, you're a nasty little blue she told him, causing Balchas to snap his head round and stare at the Green, who was glaring at the blue, He'd forgotten about his arm but it appeared Casinth wasn't about to let the bite go unnoticed. "Casinth?!" he queried, then noticed the little blue who'd bitten him. He shrugged it off, it most probably hadn't been personal, he'd only been thinking of protecting his sister after all. B'as, he bit you and he shouldn't have, i don't like him! she informed her rider, before turning a cold shoulder on the tiny blue and plopping herself down, pointedly turning her back on Genith and being promptly fed. She took care to chew her chunks though she did demand some of the largest from Balchas, no .... B'as now, she was a big girl after all.

Becka sighed "I hope so Cai, i've worked so hard.... WE'VE worked so hard to get where we are..were?" she said then blinked at him "I never imagined you would, you've never 'winged' it with a patient's health, so i very much doubt you would with your blue's" she affirmed, "I'm not skipping corners with Taikirth either, i do hope her wound isn't as bad as it looked though" she added, more to herself. "I'll help, once Taikirth's well that is" she said, louder, a definite statement. "If nothing else we could study Dragonhealing?, put our skills to use on the dragons, Dragonhealers are riders too right?" she wondered. She stayed out of the conversation about the dragon eggs.

The last egg on the sands began to rock, and with it, Hyweth seemed to become alert, raising her head. A forked, green tongue escaped her mouth as she hissed, glancing in the Impressees' direction. Criticize her, would they?

Astriana
Oh no, don't be sad mine!
Astriana looked around when she heard a voice in her head. She knew it had to come from a dragon, but she didn't see any dragon near her. She scanned the sands and saw a pile seeming to be moving. Was there another dragon buried in the sands? She watched closely and she saw a small green dragon come out of the pile eventually. She watched her hide behind her mother, wondering if that was who had spoken in her mind, but why was she not coming in this direction? Could her mind be playing tricks on her, it wishing for a voice that didn't exist?
You mustn't be sad! I certainly didn't mean to make you sad, but you see, my egg was very far under the sand, and it took a rather long time get out of there.
There was the voice again and it must have been that little green who had just come out of the sands. Her heart moved with pity, the poor thing was so small and had to dig out of the sands. Why would the gold bury eggs, was there something she was missing here? Had she been protecting them, she had to wonder now, seeing how small the green was. When the little one slid in front of her, she saw the rainbow eyes of impression and she was wrapped in a feeling like a warm blanket.
But I knew all along that you were mine, Astriana. Didn't you know that I was yours? The green titled her head. Are you hungry, mine? Not that I am, but if you were going to have something, I might have a little bite as well. she said, though the red in her eyes betrayed her true feelings. Astri laughed internally as she bent down to pick up her little dragon, holding her tightly to her chest. She looked around, before kissing her gently on the head.
'I know you are mine now, my little one. And I will protect you from now on. You may be little, but big things come in small packages. Come, let us get some food for you, then I will eat in a bit. Deal?'Astri thought back.
Okay, but only because I know it will make you feel better, the green answered, before Astri carried her to the feeding tables.

Jemi focused on the last egg, watching the shell rock and shift and this could likely was her last chance to impress and join her watch partner. Not that she wouldn't. Wen was her watch partner, impression didn't change that and if she didn't Impress, well T'rel better get use to her being about.

Cai raised an eyebrow at Wen. What was that supposed to mean? He was a Journeyman, he'd worked hard for his knots and he was proud of them. Why shouldn't he introduce himself as such? "That's... rather convenient actually. Do they Search from guard ranks often?" Candidates already displaying discipline and trained to work as a unit wouldn't be out of place among the ranks of riders he assumed. They were better suited than healer's at least.
Genith half snorted, half sneezed into the table before him in surprise as he was suddenly verbally assaulted by a green he hadn't even seen before. He stood on the bench he'd been perched on, bristling and mantling his wings as he met the green at eye level. Well you're no delight either you overstuffed wherry! Genith hissed at her, baring tiny and sharp little fangs in her direction. The insult had been pulled from Cai's mind and while not the worst he might have thrown her way, it served his purposes.
Cai's eyes went wide with alarm. "What the shaff Genith?" He turned his glare from the hatchling, to the green, to presumably the green's new rider. "What did she say to him?!" He demanded, spots of pink appearing on his cheeks under the thick layer of freckles that coated his face.

B'as didn't exactly blush but he was slightly embarassed by Casith's bluntness, that would take getting used to, looking up from where he said feeding Casith he addressed the young man "She told him she didn't like him and he was a nasty little blue for biting me" he told the bristling blue's rider. "Got it looked at, bit sore but it's fine" he added, showing that he didn't hold the blue any ill will, after all the blue hadn't Impressed then.
Casith ignored Genith's comment, concentrating on her food, or was she giving the blue the silent treatment? Either way she wasn't about to give Genith the satsifaction of responding to his insult, she'd called him nasty, that was the truth at least it had been at the time .... probably.

"Thanks again." She noticed the girls solemnness and she figured it was because of the fact she had impressed. From what she could tell she really enjoyed healing. "I'm sure we'll need plenty of Dragon Healers when it comes time for threadfall." She said with a warm smile. 'That was nice of you to encourage her Mine. Let us find some food.' Reciproth nudged her, eyes swirling with hunger. She looked down at him smiling and waved a friendly goodbye to Becka and headed towards the food table. She picked up some strips of fresh meat and started to feed the hungry dragonet who gulped the flesh down happily. She made sure to feed him slowly so he didn't choke or over eat.

Bacha
She smiled as the green came through. Bravely she patted the green nose that had pushed against her. Though no voice filled her mind, and then the green was gone. Clearly not for her. She shrugged and smiled at Balchas when she saw he'd stepped outta line. That same green went to the healers then back into the candidates. Seemed she was looking around didn't it?
Then she started bumping into the boy's knees. Bacha held her breath. Who would she pick? Now it was her turn to step out of line as the green approached her brother. When she stopped by Balchas, she unconsciously raised her fisted hands. Was it him? Was it him?!
When Balchas left the line and the green followed him she wanted whoop! Bacha instead settled for a happy jig on the sands. Her brother had Impressed! She wanted to go meet his dragon now. The girl glanced back at the eggs. There was only one left. Maybe she could wait that long at least. It was rocking now so it wouldn't be long.

The egg continued to rock, but the dragonet within had yet to make an appearance. It shook violently, and paused, as if considering. A muddy green colored patch revealed itself as the egg cracked further.

Cai's lips pinched together as he struggled internally with this. Finally he took a deep breath and huffed. "Fine." He said shortly. "Do try to keep her from antagonizing Genith if you would." he added in a clipped tone. Who did she think she was, disliking his dragon for something he did before she was even hatched. Stupid green.
Genith huffed at the same time as His, turning when he heard Hyweth hissing in their direction as well. He hissed right back, bristling once again and tucking himself closer to Cai's side. Women! Genith gave an exasperated sigh and sunk into Cai's side, weaseling his way into his rider's warm lap.
Cai blinked... unsure whether to be offended or to laugh at that comment. It did have the effect of distracting him from his anger though as he tried to return to the topic at hand. "Dragonhealing is a possibility. I won't write it off yet. I'd rather not switch specializations personally, but it's an idea."
