Skyla drew in a deep breath, hoping to calm her tired body. She was going to push through this... then reward herself with a nap once she made it home. When asked if she was excited to play, Sky offered a grin. "I am, yea. And this year's going to be doubly fun. Torin decided he wasn't set to be the captain, so he passed it over to me. So now I'm head up for Gryffindor. Which I guess means no more wishing you luck, ey?" She let out a laugh, knowing for certain she'd still wish luck all around. Quidditch was hard enough without team animosity, after all. Besides, the other teams were all fantastic, and making people happy (hopefully) meant she was less likely to get bludgered... again. Or maybe she should just be nice to the beaters of each team.... Nah, definitely to everyone. At worst, it made them smile.
When she asked Ben how his summer was getting along, he first admitted he wasn't practicing. He did, however, seem to have a busy and exciting summer thus far. "No way? That sounds like so much fun. I remember when Tor and I used to go camping in our yard. It was always fun. I just so happen to make the best s'mores ever. The secret is to use a peanut-butter cup instead of a chocolate bar. Then you get magic." She grinned, remembering the many times they had little campouts. Even on rainy days, she and Torin would build forts inside while mum roasted up some camp food. Maybe they'd have to figure out another camp-out soon...

╔════════════════════════════╗ Benjamin Olson Fifteen Years Old - Fifth Year - Hufflepuff - Halfblood Keeper - Member of the Art Club & Drama Club ╚════════════════════════════╝
Benjamin raised his eyebrows, dropping his jaw in surprise. “You’re going to be Captain? Wow, congratulations!” If only Mason would give up his captainship and chose Ben to replace him, they’d be leading their prospective Quidditch teams at the same time. The most likely best case scenario, however, would be that he’d be chosen as Vice Captain next year. Unfortunately, Skyla would have graduated by then and wouldn’t see him lead his team to victory. Unless she attended his games, of course, because maybe by then, they’d actually spend time outside of school together. He had a year to sweep her off her feet – he was sure he’d finesse something by then. “Psh, plenty of captains wish others good luck. That is what makes them ‘humble’,” he said, using finger air quotes when saying the last word. Of course, Benjamin knew she was joking, and so was he – well, maybe only half joking.
Benjamin smiled and nodded enthusiastically when Skyla reacted positively to his summer activities. “Now that sounds tasty,” he commented, nodding his head along to the idea as he imagined taking a bite into the most peanut butter and chocolaty s’more he had ever tasted. “I’ll have to get some and try it before we’re off to school again. Hey – do they only sell that in muggle shops or do you think I might find some at Sugarplum’s?” he asked, considering running over there later to grab some before heading home. Perhaps he could roast them tonight and possibly invite Skyla to join in on the fun.

Skyla nodded when Ben seemed surprised at her being captain. "I'm still a little surprised, but apparently Torin thinks I make a good leader. I guess just 'cause I'm a prefect." She shrugged a bit, dark eyes twinkling as she glanced up. She joked about not wishing people luck, but he noted it's what kept captains "humble." That earned a laugh from the brunette, cheeks flushing a bit with her grin. Ben always seemed to be in a laughable mood. Then again, from what she knew of the Olson family, all were pretty nice. "That's fair enough. Then again, you've got the captains who wish luck just to seem nice in front of the pros. Ugh. Pros. I'm probably going to be in their radar this year, won't I?" She huffed a bit, blowing a stray curl up a bit, though the soft smile never left her face.
After telling Ben the secret to s'mores, he agreed that it sounded tasty. "Literally the best thing ever. Outside of Cadbury, of course." Man, all this chocolate talk was making her snackish. When asked if peanut-butter cups were a muggle treat only, Sky happily shook her head. "I just so happen to know you can get them at Sugarplums here and Honeydukes in Hogsmeade. I've got far too much a sweet tooth not to know. Then again, my sweet tooth is mostly for chocolates." Mmmm, what she wouldn't do for a tasty snack. "Though if you also like chocolate, I'll have to make you my homemade hot chocolate this winter. It's practically a delicacy!" A bright grin, the brunette always looking for reasons to make hot chocolate... and for a friend was always a good reason.

Walking through Diagon Alley holding Seb's hand had left a blush on Alice's cheeks that she could not get to go away, despite her mental pleading with her cheeks to return to normal color. She got a brief respite when they reached the book store and their hands separated. Alice's package was mercifully bundled in wrapping paper to protect them for shipping. She knew in Seb or Momma Kinzlie saw what she was ordering, they'd probably be upset. But Alice had research to do. They got the rest of their books they needed, plus the cookbook that she wanted, then they headed for the Quidditch store. While Seb geeked out over brooms and such, Alice wandered the shop aimlessly. She caught a glimpse of the shop across the street and immediately became fixated on their display. They were advertising magically expanded bags and one of the items on display was a purse. The display also included one that was light pastel blue, which just happened to be her favorite color. Of course, they were more expensive than Alice could afford, since she only had a few knuts and maybe a sickle to her name currently. She pressed her face to the glass and let out a heavy sigh. But to own that purse... that would make her feel more like a girl. Her outfit certainly helped and she had to thank Genie for that. But that purse... Alice let out another heavy sigh.

The group had wandered to the bookstore to collect books for both the kids, including a couple extra books for Alice, since she promised to read them to Sebastian, who also seemed interested. Nora paid the tab, then used a bit of magic to make the heavy stacks weigh less. Nora, as promised, also purchased the nice cookbook for Alice, citing it as a necessity for her new club leadership. She also purchased a book of Seeker Strategies for Sebastian, at the boy's subtle request.
Their next destination was one not needed by their school lists, but Nora didn't mind. Sebastian quickly pulled Kinzlie aside, showing her all the different brooms and explaining their differences while she read the tags aloud to him. Nora, however, noticed the other teen in their group standing a bit away and looking deflated. Stepping over, the woman looked out the window. "Admiring the bags across the way, or is there something else going on?" Her words were soft, yet held an unmistakable curiosity. A new gender came with all sorts of new things, and perhaps it was something Nora could offer help with. Otherwise, she was just thinking, and maybe Nora could help there too...
Alice was deep in her own thoughts when Mrs Nora's voice startled her from her reverie. The blonde jumped a little, then turned and smiled at the woman, a little blush on her cheeks. "Oh, I, uh... I was looking at the bags. Genie, my cousin, she really helped me feel more like a girl with the skirt and makeup, but... I just feel like something is missing." Sure, her cousin had been more than overjoyed to help with the girl's wardrobe as well as doing her makeup. She'd even offered to design special outfits for her. But even still, Alice felt like she was missing something. The blonde turned again and pressed her face against the glass. Then she added, "Unfortunately I don't have enough for the bag. I couldn't ask Uncle Seamus for anymore either because he paid so much for my extra books." She heavy sighed again, then tucked her hands into the pockets of Seb's hoodie she was wearing. A downtrodden look crawled onto her face and sadly said, "It'll just have to wait, I guess." Shuffling away from the window, she browsed something nearby, but kept throwing side glanced at the window.

While she felt guilty that Mrs Nora purchased the purse with her own money, Alice was already in love with her new purse. The color was perfect and it matched her outfit so everything was amazing. Walking back into Quality Quidditch Supplies, the blonde quickly ran over to Seb to show him her new purse. "Sebby! Look what Mrs Nora got me!" She showed off the cool blue purse, modeling it on her shoulder before she took it off to show him something else. "And look what it can do!" Alice opened it and stuck her arm into the purse, all the way in until it was up to her shoulder. The purse was quite expansive in there and she just knew she was going to need to put shelves or something in there to be able to organize everything. She'd read up a little on undetectable extension charms last year because her trunk was getting too full of books and she needed a better way to transport them. So she was already quite familiar with the charm... just not exactly how to cast it. But charms was one of her best classes so she could probably figure it out. "It's so cool, isn't it?!" Blue eyes glanced at Sebby, wondering if he thought her new purse was as cool as she did.
Seb was working on picking out his gear for the year, knowing he'd have to go as inexpensive as possible, given they'd still need to get his new set of prescription goggles. Miss Marni had modified them for the last game, but apparently that was only a temporary thing. Plus he had to go to the eye doctor to get a true prescription. Maybe he'd finally be good at Seeking? When Alice hurried over, he looked at his friend, offering a grin when she showed off her new purse. "Oh wow! It's your favorite color too!" He seemed delighted, glad his friend got a really nice gift. She deserved it after a big change.
He watched curiously as she showed off the extension charms on the purse, a question coming through before he could stop it. "But won't it weigh a million kilograms when it's all full up? Mama's purse doesn't do that and it's heavy!" Unless Alice was planning to fill the purse with pillows and feather boas, it'd get heavy quickly. "The charm helps mitigate the weight, don't worry. It won't weigh her down too much." Seb looked over at Mrs Nora, then smiled at Alice again. "It's aces, Alice." Mama set her hand on his shoulder, causing the teen to look up at her. She sent a small smile over at Alice as well, then nudged Seb. "Hey bub, go finish grabbing your things here. I'm sure Nora's busy, so we'd better get your shopping handled." He nodded and hurried back to try and finish up, wanting to make sure everyone else was happy.

Ever since she'd dropped Seb off for school, Kinzlie couldn't help the guilt over the whole summer. Poor kid just wanted to spend time with friends, but they all seemed too busy or picked less than stellar days. And she had gone to sit with him for one of his changes (despite Nora pleading that she not watch), which had only made her feel worse for ever sending her son off to that school. And now he just wanted to have fun in a sport that he was apparently less than skilled with... and she couldn't even go cheer him on! Though, this year, Nora was helping her study for a magic exam thing that would let her go and see the school. She just had to try and pass before his first game!
As she was walking toward the exit to Diagon Alley, her emerald eyes noticed a flyer for the quidditch shop that Seb had brought her to a few times over the years. They were allowing installment payments for brooms?! Where was that over the summer?! Without hesitation, the young woman sprinted the Alley to go and collect what little magical money she had from the bank before hurrying to the shop. Once inside... she realized she had no idea which of the brooms was right for his position. Dang it!
Stepping toward the counter, Kinzlie spotted someone there that she'd seen a few other times, so she figured he worked there. "Hey, um... I-I saw this flyer and I'm really hoping this is something I can do. I... I don't know which broom I'm supposed to get, but I bet you'd know all this magic stuff better than me." She handed over the page with a nervous smile in place. "It says I have to prove he plays too, um... I'm not sure how to do that. I just know he's in Gryffindor at Hogwarts. He plays... oh, he said it's something to do with the end of the game? Something that gets a whole bunch of points." Unfortunately, there were a lot of magical terms, and honestly, she didn't remember much about a sport she'd only learned of in passing.

↔Wyatt was still kicking himself to not come up with his repayment plan a long time ago but doubly for not getting everything in order before the summer rush-which would've been the prime time to test the plan's efficiency. Well he supposed it wasn't all too bad, at least now in the lull he could adequately take time to train his staff on how to do them rather than just throwing them in the deep end. He had finished handing out and hanging flyers of the new arrangement in all the student/parent heavy traffic portions of the alley in the early morning and was doing the very boring business inventory at the front when a frazzled young woman came in. Honestly, Wyatt was used to the look on most if not all parent's faces when it came to his store though he was slightly surprised to not see an excitable child following either in front or directly behind. 'More than likely why she's so stressed,' he hazard a guess.
He offered her welcoming smile as she stepped to his counter and only let it fall to a gentle one as she rambled about the newest program and how she wasn't sure how to prove her son was in fact on the team. "That's not an issue, I've got a list that will update itself every season. Just tell me your son's name and I can help you pick out a broom." Wyatt explained calmingly as he pulled a folder from a drawer. He was glad he'd gotten together with the school's flying instructor and Deputy-which had been another hill to tackle that he hadn't even thought of before doing so. It certainly made things easier for all sides though!↔

After rambling out an explanation, Kinzlie took a second to breathe. The shopkeep had a much cooler head and simply said he had a list. Well now, that was helpful! What crazy things magic could do. Maybe she could see about having Nora help her with magical lists for Seb's to-dos! It sure would help the executive functioning issues of their house. "Of course. Sebastian Moon. He's a fourth year, which is crazy enough on its own." She laughed a bit, running a hand through her soft curls.
"He practiced so much over the summer with some of his friends. One I still don't believe was a student, though Seb said he was only a couple years over. So tall. But he was very kind, if a bit paint-covered." Actually, other than one rather grumpy young lady, all the people that "borrowed" Seb for a few hours of practice were quite sweet. And Seb talked very highly of them all, though in the same breath he pretty often noted how much better they were than him. All she really wanted was to help bring his positivity back, especially after the last few months.

↔Wyatt scanned the list for the name under the Gryffindor tab and found him listed as the seeker. Ah, no wonder she was confused on what broom to get, that position in particular was quite tricky. "Right! I see him right here listed as the team's seeker, very important position. I have a few broom models off the top of my head that could work but let me make sure we still have them in stock before I show them to you." He would hate getting her hopes up only to tell her they sold our just a few days ago. He then switched over to his own lists as the mother continued on explaining how her son had practiced during the summer, including a suspicious tidbit about a ridiculously tall child covered in paint. Not able to stop himself, the older man wearily sighed then realized that might've come across as incredibly rude.
"Sorry, that wasn't directed towards you. Your description of the um, tall student covered in paint? I am ninety percent certain that this was in fact my grandson. Ninety five if he was also carrying pockets of snacks." Wyatt huffed out a laugh thinking of his eldest grandson and his frankly wise decision to always keep some form of food on his person. "It's great that so many people offered their help. I've always thought that students could do with a few scrimmage games in the summer to help keep their skills but I get why the League hasn't quite picked that up yet." The American gave a light shrug. If he had so Imany issues just getting a credit line up and running, he could only shudder in horror at the logistics of possible multi-school, possibly tiered Quidditch games. Ugh, the scheduling alone is putting a bad taste in his mouth. When he determined that yes, he thankfully had the brooms, Wyatt placed the list back in its place and grabbed his cane from its resting place as he came around the front.
"So! I'm thinking for his position, he's going to need a very fast, responsive, and most importantly reliable broom. The Cleensweepers may not be the prettiest models but I've yet to find one that's not a dependable long-lasting broom. The SkyRunner is a relatively newer broom series, only a few decades into production, however it practically reads the rider's mind in regards to turns and dives. And it has a pretty good cushioning which I took majorly for granted from my youth." Wyatt chuckled as he pointed out each model he described on the appropriate wall.
"Lastly is the Nimbus series which is always a crowd favorite with students. Now, as a sales person I'm supposed to saw newer is always better, but between you and me, as far as the brooms go, anything past the 2030's is basically the same thing in a different finish. You could definitely get a good value out of the 2030's or even the 2020's as long as you keep good care." The older man then turned back to the young mother and offered an encouraging smile. "I realize, belatedly sadly, that all that I've said might've horrendously confused you. So if you have any questions, any at all, I will happily answer them. Even if it's something like 'how they heck did they put a cushion on a broomstick?!' Wyatt snickered quietly to himself, still amused at the question from years ago by a completely amazed parent. ↔

Kinzlie was entirely relieved that he happened to have a list that indeed had Seb still on it. She'd hate to find out he opted to quit by a silly list. Then again, as of the last time they'd spoken, he still hoped to try out. Maybe with a new broom he'd actually have the confidence back. "Yes, Seeker. That sounds right." Kinzlie nodded along, glad that he was both willing to help and also to make sure they had some nice brooms in stock. Maybe she'd be able to remember the actual broom name that he'd been wanting too. All she knew is that they were absurdly expensive.
After mentioning the kids that'd helped, the shopkeep gave an almighty sigh. Oh boy. He explained that it was most likely his grandson, especially if he'd been carrying snacks. "He did have gummie candies in his pockets. I think he said his name was Lewis." She tried to remember, but Seb had had a few different friends over. "Do you have many grandkids?" That was something she couldn't contemplate. Her family had just been her parents and herself, and now it was only herself and Seb.... but he seemed pretty happy about his family. "I wish they did. I'd really like to see Sebby get to play sometime. He seems pretty keen on the sport."
She followed the shopkeep over to a big display of brooms, listening as he explained the ones he had in stock. So far, the SkyRunner seemed nice, though he then dove into the Nimbus, and Kinzlie remembered (all at that moment), that Seb had showed her a brochure for that one. "Yes, that. That Nimbus one sounds familiar. Though, you're right. I've not got the slightest clue what any of that meant. All I really know is that he... needs a pick-me-up of sorts. His last two seasons went.... well, poorly." Even without words, she knew it'd been rough because he'd only sigh and look disappointed when asked. "He's my only little guy and I tried saving up all summer, but teenagers! And, well, time got away from me. But I really want to make sure he's able to play his best this year."

↔Wyatt just chuckled only a tad wearily as the mother basically confirmed his suspicions. "Yup, that one's mine." he responded in amusement. When she asked if he had many grandkids, he unconsciously puffed out his chest, always more than happy to talk about his amazing family. "Well, me and my husband have three, technically five I suppose, kids and of them, four have children of their own. The oldest has two, the second oldest has three...no four, which includes Lewis the one you apparently met, and my daughter now has three as well. Our youngest is still...finding himself I suppose. Which is fine! You can't rush love and all that." he made sure to add. He never wanted to give the impression that he rushed his children into things they weren't yet ready for (although, he did occasionally do the opposite when gossiping with Milo). "I'm so sorry, I just realized I never introduced myself. My name is Wyatt Abrams, I'm actually the owner of this shop so you definitely luck out today, I think." he chuckled again. He nodded in agreement as the mother wished she could see her son play as he seemed to be very excited and keen on the sport. "Oh I get that. I try to go to every game but sometimes, life has a way of well, getting in the way." Wyatt grinned wryly.
As they discussed brooms, she practically lit up at the mention of the Nimbus explaining that her son had particular interest in that series. He nodded since as he said, it was pretty popular with the kids. He felt for her as she went on to explain the reasons why she was getting the broom, other than her son being an older player, and instantly felt for her and the unseen student. He understood the mental toll one or two bad seasons could bring and especially to a still developing brain and hormones, it was like a constant barrage of negativity.
"Hey, it's like I said before, life has a way of getting in the way. You're a great mom to be doing this for him and I know he'll appreciate it." Wyatt then went over to the wall expressly for the Nimbus models and pointed our the ones that fell into the 2020 and 2030 series. "Those would be your best bets then. All we really need to do now, besides decide, is discuss finances. What's your budget and what do you feel comfortable spending today?"↔

Kinzlie blinked in a bit of shock as the man launched into his family. He had three.... though technically five kids? That seemed a lot. Of those five, four had their own kids. Holy s**t. Their house must be insane! It sounded like Lewis was halfway through the grandkids, which was bonkers since he seemed so.... much older than he probably was. And their youngest kid was simply finding himself, and on that one Kinzlie could relate. "Wow, I knew mine was small, but wow. Mine's just... just the two of us, but it's okay that way." She shrugged a bit, then looked surprised when he mentioned introductions.
"Oh, lucky for sure. My name's Kinzlie Moon. I work at Blood Moon with Nani... and I think she mentioned something about her wife being an Abrams too. I'd wager one of yours?" She chuckled softly, thinking it'd be insane if she just happened upon a giant family. Especially because she knew Nora and her husband had three of their own, which was a lot on its own as well. She mentioned wanting to see the games as Wyatt said he tried to go to them all, but life had other plans. "Mine's... well, I'm not magical. Apparently I can't see the school until I take this test thing. Nora Heulwen's helping me study.
