Still holding his hand loosely, Crow shook her head slightly.
"Nothing... never sure what to say anymore." she said, looking at him with a curious expression. "It's kinda new. Usually I talk a mile a minute."
She smiled then, shrugging.
"It's stupid...but I sort of..." she paused, laughing a little self consciously. "I get kind of shy around people I... y'know. It's like I don't want to say the wrong thing, so... I don't say much at all."
She hunched her shoulders slightly, grinning again.
"If that makes any sense."

Liam relaxed a bit and laughed slightly.
"Look," he arched an eyebrow and squeezed Crow's hand briefly, "It's not like I've just met you, and it's not like I'm easily offended. Frankly, you being quiet is a bit unnerving." By the last few words, a bit of his old accent had crept into his speech. He cleared his throat, hoping that it would help.
"Not that I'm any better."

Crow's brows raised briefly in surprise at the sound of the accent. Huh. She'd forgotten all about that. She shrugged again just to do something.
"I know, I know..." she said, abandoning the chair in favor of sitting next to him. "Not that big a loss when you think about it. Half the stuff I say never makes sense."

"Well, where's the fun in making sense?" Liam's arm twitched a bit spasmodically. He didn't want her coming near him...just in case whatever was happening to him could be caught...or maybe just for the fact that he wasn't in the best physical condition. Both rather juvenile fears, but they were there nonetheless.
He suddenly submitted to an urge he'd been supressing for quite some time and brought both hands rather quickly to his mouth, breaking into a near-hysterical coughing fit and spitting a gob of blood into his hands.
He pulled his hands away from his face and peered down at them. Huh. There was some kinda...clear...liquiddy stuff...pooling in his palms...
"Awh, Jesus!" Liam said rather loudly and leaped from the couch, hobbling to the kitchen (which was a few steps closer than the bathroom sink) and began running cold water over his hands.
Yet another sign of his systems shutting down. Yaaaay...
"Sorry 'bout that..."

"Oh, oh jeez..."
Crow bolted up and started to go after him, then hung back. She was completely unsure what to do...
"Liam, are you - ah, s**t. You okay?" she asked warily, feeling monumentally idiotic the minute the words were out. He must've been sick of answering that accursed question by now. She followed him carefully, hanging back a few steps. How badly she wished she could do something to help him. Anything.
"I gotta stop asking that." she said, more to herself than to him. "But... are you alright?"

Liam laughed slightly, staring intently at his hand as if that would make his pores close.
"I'm fine," he said rather non-chalantly, "Normal Vavvian bodily function. I'd explain, but I really doubt you'd want to hear it." Finally satisfied that the oozing had stopped, he grabbed a paper towel and dried his hand.
"I've been losing a bit of control over those functions lately."
He peered down at himself, sudenly realizing that his own body had cleaned itself up. There were some good things about being a crazy eel person sometimes.
"You need to stop worrying about me is what you have to do," he smiled to Crow, "I'm not going anywhere. Sadly for all of you people."

Crow eyed Liam's hands with cautious curiosity.
" 'Nother thing I always forget, the Vavvian stuff..." she said. It took deliberate focus to remember that he even had gills. Truly, she was not one to catch the little details. She crept closer and smiled.
"It's just neurotic instinct. It'll wear off eventually," she said with a laugh.

"I have bloody gills, woman!" Liam gave a sincere laugh. He noticed Crow's change in distance, but not much else. The secretion of whatever had been sustaining his body via his hands was a bit straining on his brain.

"Love, you think I notice stuff like that if it's not pointed out?" Crow said in mock accusation, smiling wider. With a final quick glance down at Liam's hands, she drew to a comfortable closeness and lightly touched the side of his neck, a few inches away from a gill. She drew back slowly, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.
"You know me. I never pick up on it."

Liam instinctively bent his head slightly away from where Crow's hand had been. It was a useless instinct, really, when you thought back to his roots; exposing your various arteries and breathing apparatus for attack.
But Crow was one of the few people he didn't mind touching him. Especially in his current state.
"Not very well, you have to admit," he shrugged lightly, "but enough to know that you need to be reminded of things daily, sure." He smirked slightly. Even when kidding around, it didn't feel right insulting her.
God, what an idiot he was becoming.

Crow laughed, swatting carefully at his arm and then wincing at the move. Despite herself, she couldn't help but treat him as though he was made of glass.
"Oh, come off it. Your memory'd spaz out from time to time if you had the habit of falling on your face every ten minutes." She said easily. "You're just gonna have to deal with the fact that when I'm not ripping out throats, I'm a flake."
She paused, reaching up to touch his face.
"No...you know me well enough." she said.

Liam noticed Crow's hesitation in even swatting him so lightly. He had to get better. Fast. Which meant dying. What a brutal goddamn circle...
"You're not a f--" he stopped speaking abruptly. All movement ceased, including that of his vital organs. He had no pulse for a good three seconds.
Immediate reaction? Grab the rifle and shoot her in the face. Not good. It was habits like those he was trying to break, after all...
Instead, he laughed slightly, nervously, and placed his hand over Crow's.
Needless to say, his thoughts were an unending stream of multilingual curses and shrieking emotions.

Unaware of what she'd triggered in Liam, Crow let her hand rest there a moment before drawing it away from his face. Eyes suddenly averted, she held onto his hand loosely before letting it go again.
"You're the only one thinks so," she said patiently, not a trace of self-pity in her voice. She was simply stating fact. Still oblivious to his reaction to her touch, she smiled a bit self consciously. "You're sweet to say it, y'know."

Liam was half-relieved and half-disappointed that Crow had retracted her hand. First legal-age female to ever show any interest in him aside from brotherly love. Not something he wanted to let go.
"Thank you," Liam nodded as his thoughts calmed, "but that's not true. Trust me. If you were a flake, I would never have met you." He was, of course, referring to the fact that Rabid had removed the arm of the last flake that had tried to befriend her.

Fairly certain there was something behind what he'd said she wouldn't like to ask about, Crow contented herself to smile at what she decided was a compliment.
"I was mortified with myself the day I first met you," she said, wincing humorously at the memory. "Frickin' drama queen explosion. Gods."
Shaking her head and laughing under her breath, she leaned against the counter and grinned at him. She crossed her arms to occupy her hands - she wanted to touch him again, for reasons she didn't care to fathom. She gripped her wrists determinedly, not giving in to the unexpected want.
