Rail laid with a paw on each wing pinning the creature to the ground. Its sharp beak stabbed into his paws and legs in an attempt to get free. Rail spoke in a different language trying to calm the animal. He found the mental chain that linked them to one mind and worked to repair it. Letting his mind wander like it did caused a lot of damage to the birds mind. Because the link was still there and just weakened Rail didn't have the backlash like he would before sleep.

The link fixed and the bird relaxed. Slowly Rail's subconscious reformed the deception image, hiding the bones stuck out, recoloring feathers back to pure white, and making him all around look more friendly than he did. Nervously he took a paw off a wing, the bird pulled the wing to its side and tried to roll and stand. With no yelling or fighting Rail released the other wing. With a 'brrru' the bird stood up and looked at Rail for orders.

With a sigh of relief that he got his mind focused again he laid his head down, the bird hopping onto his shoulder and nestled into his fur.

After relaxing a moment he stood, bird perched on shoulder, and went to rejoin the girls. He knew they would be moving out soon and was curious to know where.

Thorn watched as Rail walked over to her and sat down. His fur was blowing in he wind and he obviously was very proud of it. She noted that Rail wasn't calling her week. It was just a general statement. She raised her head and puffed up her fur. Wondering if this was the usual thing to do or if she just looked silly. "It was much easier when my sister was with me. But to be honest I haven't really run into much danger. I can always sense it so I always manage to avoid it." She shugged slightly. She wasn't sure if this was an advantage or not. On the negative side it gave her no experience in fighting these things.

"What about yourself? How long ago did you find the pack? And what were you doing before it?" Her head tilted to the side, trying to look cute, and she gave him a curious look.

Ember looked at Rail with slight smile as he came out of the group of trees, but stayed as he went to go greet Thorn. He's a male so of course he would want to get to know all the females. With a sigh she turned and followed him and stood close by as the two talked, she did have to say that his fur looked really nice as it blower through the wind. Quickly shaking her head she looked away, she had no idea what she was thinking. Not one to be loved. Strange voices rumbled through her head. Of course she's not, no one would love what she is.

When she looked up she smiled as she saw Thorn also puff out her chest like Rail, she wanted to call out to her and tell her that she didn't have to puff out her chest, its mostly something that male wolves do.

Perking up her head a little more when Rail told them that he came from a city from the north and that it wouldn't be the best place to go to, it was nothing but death. Her head sunk a little low hearing that. "Rail what was the place like there, what happened? Did altered take over like everywhere else?"

Marta felt herself freeze as realization overwhelmed her.

She was literally in danger of bursting apart at the seams. A sense of irony mixed with fear flooded her.

"Well, s**t." Marta murmured ruefully.

The augmentation process had two stages; one given in their youth and the second for when they had reached adulthood and had stopped growing... The latter was a more reinforced system to better handle the subjects more experienced and stronger energies then those of their puppyhood.

Right now, with what all the "practice" her powers had been receiving, it only stood to reason that they now would be more developed, their flow stronger- and her current mainframe simply couldn't handle it. She could easily cause severe physical damage if she allowed her energy to top off; but if she had to keep exhausting herself like this, she would also cause horrendous physical damage through starvation and other means...

It was a lose-lose situation. And it would be a long, painful, crappy way to die.

Marta did not beg, but there didn't seem to be anyway out of her predictament. Her only chance was to get to a research city that held similar augmentation technology and then, they would need a human expereinced enough to upgrade it, a process mixed between and electrician and a surgeon- also, the minor detail that the humans had been wiped out.

Well, she was screwed.

She gave Frost a long look of one sentenced to an excecution they had long since suspected. "Well, I guess that's it for me, Sno-cone." she laughed without humor.

Rail turned his head to Ember and shook it lightly. "The humans think they are top dog. They did caused the Corruption, but something worse took over the city." He stood up glanced at Colt, the bird shivered too as it thought about that place. Shrugging his shoulders he changed his serious tone to a lighter and happier one, "Least we know nothing is there and don't have to waste time trying to go there." He smiled at the girls to hid the fright he had.

"I'm not sure what they did to create it. I just know they started breeding programs to make 'the perfect defensive'. My father was part of that I remember, he was some assassin creature and my mother was breed to protect the rich people's homes. I don't remember them, but I to have a sister that's lost now too." He lowered his ears when he thought of her. He never knew her name, he was taken away and sent to training before she could even open her eyes.

Ember went quiet as she listened, she didn't really have any sort of contact with the humans like the others had, and she never had anyone to lose. She didn't have a way to relate with these wolves, and her head hung low when Thorn asked her if she had anything. Slowly shaking her head, "No...I lost my parents when I was a pup and practically went from pack to pack before the whole destruction of the world. I was actually almost killed by a few of the males from one of the packs, now their blood stains my coat." Her coat rippled like waves before settling down again like fur. "I don't have anyone...except the pack....but that's it." Ember looked away from Rail and Thorns gaze, saddened that she had nothing to find or fight for...just her life.
