Ruuvan

PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 11:45 am

Having shouted the name and waiting evacuation, Ruuvan started getting a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach as the moments went by. Nothing happened, another Reaper appeared behind them ready to strike and then everything went crazy. His vision was going blurry, perhaps stretched was a better word for it; was this what it felt like to be killed by a Reaper, had his train come in? No, it was just them being pulled back to 'reality'.

Hearing the loud noises above his head, Ruu immediately turned to see the two Reapers from before in their cages above the circles. Joshua welcoming them home tore his attention away, a simple confused nod being returned. Then came the next part, how exactly were they meant to get back into their bodies? Ruuvan definitely didn't know and for a moment thought they really had to figure it out, but as soon as the shapes and runes on the floor started to glow it became clear; just a few more seconds and it'd be over.

One moment he was blinded and the next he was inhaling for the first time since they left. Once again, Joshua's actions tore Ruu away from the lack of thoughts he was having, setting eyes on his act of a mad scientist who had just made the world's largest breakthrough ever. It made him laugh anyway, another thing which hadn't happened in ages. He looked across to D to make sure he was ok, waiting until Josh said they could move again.

"..."

Joshua stared.

"..."

Sat and stared.

"..."

Was he going to say anything?

"...you dead? Why are you just standing there like a statue? Jeeze, kid, you're the weirdedst one yet!"

Joshua flopped onto his back, arms folded behind his head, and arched his back to stretch off the stiffness of sitting still for nearly a day. Patience was a virtue, but sometimes virtue really sucked.

"So, didj'ya find what you were looking for?"

Ruuvan

PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 1:22 pm

Considering the amount of trouble Ruuvan was in last time he moved, what with bringing two Reapers along earlier than expected, one didn't need to wonder too much as to the reason for his lack of movement.

As far as what he wanted to find... hey, where was the sword?
"Any chance that sword I had made it back with me?" Ignoring Josh's question for the timebeing, Ruu asked his own.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 2:37 pm

Ruuvan wasn't holding it, he wasn't wearing it, and though he could have been mistaken, Joshua was fairly certain he wasn't hiding it up his a**. The answer to Ruuvan's question should have been quite self-apparent before he even asked the question.

Things made of spirit were made only of spirit. They had no physical body to enter, like Ruuvan and the child did, and could not cross over in the same way. What Ruuvan didn't know, though was that it had come here with them in spirit, but because it was a fragmented piece of another soul it could not join Ruuvan in his body. The sword, invisible to the eyes of the living, lay on the ground beside Ruu.

"No, it didn't."

Joshua bent down and picked the spirit form up; holding it in front of him in his right hand. If Ruuvan tried to speak again he would be shushed harshly.

It took a few moments before anything appeared to happen. At first it began, almost like seeing a ghost; the shape of the Nameless seemed to scarsely appear... though as time passed it seemed to grow more and more 'real'. Seconds, at first, then nearly a minute... the spirit form was taking on a physical body. It was not matter appearing from nothing, though... almost unnoticable, every particle and speck of dust and dirt in the air and in the room (though Walter had been so very thorough in his cleaning, dust still clings in the air and accumulates over time, and it was not a small task to clean the entire estate), even parts of the chalk lines upon which they stood and the air around them were pulled in to make up a faux physical body for the spirit form.

In under two minutes, it was done, and Joshua drew the Nameless zatoichi from the sheath to inspect the blade. The physical form conformed exactly to the spirit form in likeness, but not composition. When all was said and done it was still a blade of dust and air.

"Here." He sheathed the blade and tossed it to Ruuvan; the weapon only weighing a few ounces.

"Only for a guy like him would this kind of weapon work."

(( Y'know, Max. You've made ancient artifacts for Ed, family heirlooms for yourself, trials of birthright for Ryugi, and a dozen other things. I think I just made something due to lack of foresight. ))

Ruuvan

PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 3:36 pm

Staying silent after asking his question, trying to form an answer as to why it wasn't here and once again contemplating how someone brought something back from the spirit world, Ruuvan looked up to see Josh holding something in his hands. Of course it would remain invisible to him for a few minutes, but he watched intently as the object drifted into place until it resembled The Nameless perfectly. Given what Josh had said, or not said as the case was, Ruuvan figured the blade wasn't really there and there was something behind it's physical appearance.

Catching the sword after it was thrown, Ruuvan admired the reality it held and placed it carefully against his bag that sat just outside of the circle.
"I didn't find him, even an Angel at this 'seeing well' had a hard trouble pulling anything up before they came," He shook his his head slightly as he pictured the Reaper's blade sticking from the Angels' chest, "I saw Gaia, as if I was in space, then it moved in closer to show a snow covered continent, a tundra. Before the Angel was killed, I saw a large black tower with a red cross on the roof... I guess my next step would be to find that place."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 3:52 pm

"Tundra?" Joshua asked absently; picking up a stub of chalk from the floor where he had left it. A few lengthy lines were drawn upon the frame of one of the windows; likely going to be much harder to get off of the wall than they were on the floor. A secondary rune was drawn just below it, and when it was complete Joshua placed his hand in the circle and immediately the window changed from a view of the outside to something else entirely.

It was like flipping channels on a television; every second or two the view would shift to something else entirely, moving around until it found the channel it was looking for.

The ocean. The shore. Guldor. Ice covered branches of an endless forest. Twisted frozen mountain peaks. The Black Hospital.

"..."

He looked over his shoulder, back at Ruuvan.

:: D had an explosion of breath, as if having his lungs were magically filled with air and emptied again, the sort of epic rebirth which usually comes with spontaneous ressurection.

But as Ruuvan focused on the floaty sword in the wierd mans hands, D focusd on something else entirely.

You see, D was more than flesh and blood, he was a child. And children are vessels of infinite learning. They learn from everything and everyone around them, every experience shapes who they are and who they will be. Today D had learned a very important lesson. He knew much about Heaven, and about the laws of life and death, but he knew very little about actually dying and returning. Today, he learned something that would effect him right here, and right now.

He learned that being ressurected makes you hungry....very hungry.

And then he noticed the lovely sandwich just sitting on the floor, untouched by teeth or hands beyond the careful hands that crafted it. The child sat up, and leaned onto all fours. His lips peeling back, revealing his mouth set full of spiked teeth. D was practically drooling as he eyed the culinary delight. He had assumed this treasure was not for his taking, and so the child watched as Joshua turned his back to work on the window. Immediately his limbs sprung into motion, as agile as a cat, or some other sort of odd nimble beast. Slowly stalking the sandwich, trying to get into the perfect pouncing position.::

--Meanwhile--

::Up above the manor, on the surface of the isle, Walter knelt over to tend to the begonias. You see, they were in dire need of water and he was supplying said water from his lovely water spout.::

As Joshua went about drawing more runes and 'tuning' the window in, Ruuvan took a moment to observe D stalking a rather splendiferous sandwich and shook his head; hunger would have to wait, he wanted to know where the next stop was.

Turning back to Josh and looking in the window, Ruu saw the Tundra the Angel had attempted to show him. There was more detail in this image than the other, perhaps because Joshua was more powerful or he was simply looking at a location, not finding someone the Reapers didn't want him to. Either way, Ruu was now looking at his next location and there was only one question remaining.
"How can I get there?" Ship? Flight? Teleportation with another one of Joshua's spanktastic spells? Whatever the answer, he still needed it.

"Third star from the left and straight on 'till morning..." Joshua muttered in responce to Ruu's question.

It wasn't a real answer, it was then Kansas City Shuffle. See, that made no real sense, and it would make Ruuvan stop to think about it for a moment. They look right, and you go left, and that's the Kansas City Shuffle. In his moment of distraction Ruu would find himself picked up over Joshua's head and thrown face-first through the window.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!

"Hey! stressed "

Joshua looked down at D, stalking the sandwitch, and the background shifted to a tidal wave, followed by an explosion, followed by burning fire, followed by words written in kanji hanging in the air over his head that said 'divine wrath'. Then, with a swift kick in the a**, D was sent flying through the window, too.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~!

The two would find themselves in Guldor immediately; there was no travel time, it was like stepping through a door. Only this door lead to a bird's-eye view of the Black Hospital.

Funny thing about bird's-eye views... birds flew.

...oh.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 7:00 pm

Stars? Ruuvan couldn't fly, how did Joshua intend for him to suddenly gain flying powers and launch himself into the night sky? There was only one possibility and that was...
"Hey!" Josh's shouting faded into the distance as Ruuvan came back to reality and found himself hurtling towards the ground at a dangerous speed, a quick turn of his head showed D following not far behind him. Opening his arms and legs to slow the descent ever so slightly, he made sure he was level with D before pulling their air brakes as he had done so many times in the past day; more air miles than walking it seemed.

Once again, faced with a fall that would kill someone unless they stopped, Ruuvan drew a familiar type of arrow from the quiver and notched it on the string. Again the ground drew closer, their altitude dropping with every second which literally flew by. One second, another, one more and there it was. The string flew forward silently and vibrated as its fixtures stopped it from following the arrow towards the ground, the ever so beautiful colours of an air fountain being created billowing up beneath them and bringing them gently onto the ground. Where were they? Guldor. What was this place? A dark looking tower with a hospital cross on the top... not the friendly-looking place most people would've hoped for, but Ruuvan was here to find Maximos and wouldn't stop until said goal was completed. What was here anyway, a quick assessment of the area would tell him.

:: D felt the foot impact, but was focused on his prey that pain never really even registered! As he flew he reached his arms out, begging to grab a piece of bread, a slice of meat...anything. Only to find the tips of his grubby fingers just barely skimming the top slice of bread and moving it a fraction of an inch off of its absolutely perfectly placed perch.

And then...he was falling. This had become a somewhat ordinary occurance, and he landed really looking a bit bored.

Ruuvan might have the sense of perception to notice that they hand landed in snow, yes, but that they had also landed in a gigantic indentation in the snow. An indent not caused by their arrow, but instead by a giant set of....feet. They werent human feet, there were obviously 3 visible toes, and giant sole followed by a forth backfacing toe. It was very square as if it was mechanized. But the scent of fresh blood and flesh was in the air.

Also, Ruu might notice that the sky had no stars, no sunlight, just a thick abysmal cloud cover. The tower that stood before them was massive, two humongous doors over 30ft tall stood before then standing as the massive entrance to the enormous black monstrosity that was the black hospital. 86 stories of patched metal, charred ashy black, and a red cross to add the only lighting to this horrid place.

Here Ruuvan was! Now where was his friend?::

~ Meanwhile ~

...alright, it wasn't necessarilly meanwhile because there was really only one person in this thread at the time, so it wasn't like something nefarious was happening elsewhere while the hapless heroes went about their business unawares of the dangers that they would soon face at the hands of this shadowy menace.

:deep breath:

~ At the same time as events happening in Guldor ~

The window had been converted into a nice, HD, flatscreen monitor for scrying. It had pretty good resolution, and about half a million channels, however it was tuned right now to just one: the Black Hospital. Most daytime soaps were pretty cheesy, about murder, and amnesia, and people who were thought to be dead coming back and all of that, but this one was totally different. Totally. In no way the same as those.

Now, it had been far too long since Joshua had gotten a snack, and as anyone who knew Joshua knew, he lived for snacks. They made the world go 'round. So it was a pretty easy guess as to what Joshua was doing right now with that sandwitch.

Go ahead. Guess.

It was a good sandwich. It wasn't the best sandwich, but it was certainly a good one. The TV scrying portal could use a bit of mustard, though... but it wasn't like he was eating that. There was nothing pressing on his mind at the moment other than the sandwich, and so Joshua stood and watched the events play out... chewing.

"You've been a naughty little boy, Joshua."

At that moment, he bit his tongue.

That voice was one of a kind. There was no mistaking that voice for any other, be it living, dead, or inhuman. Anyone who knew to whom that voice belonged to might have done the same thing in that situation, because if there ever was one thing in the world which you would want to avoid in a dark alley, the owner of this voice was, without a hint of doubt, that thing.

"I'm not turning around..." Joshua said loudly, hesitating to finish the sandwich. "I'm just not going to do it. Then what are you going to do?"

A child stepped out from the window frame, into view of the scrying portal; no more than a girl, really, her skin pale as death itself and the elegant dress that she wore was made of satin as black as Walter's polished shoes. She traced her fingers along the outside of the frame for a moment without even a breath or a bat of the eye. Then, folding her hands in her lap, the girl bent at the waist and leaned into the room.

"Boo."

"Oh, JESUS ********!" He stumbled backwards, shouting bloody murder and shaking an accusing finger towards the child in the window. His fist was clenched so hard that his knuckles turned white, but all he did was keep shaking it and cussing like a sailor.

"God! ********! Damnit! Why do you always have to use that body! Do you have any idea how creepy it is!?"

The girl brought the back of her hand up against her lips, seeming to stifle a giggle. She then hopped down from the windowsill to the floor, stumbling slightly as her feet touched the ground.

"Yes, I do. It amuses me to see that reaction again and again."

"b*****d," Joshua scoffed; tilting his head sharply to the side and issuing a sharp snap to echo through the empty gymnasium.

"b***h, actually. For now..."

The girl looked up at him coldly, staring blankly without any expression of emotion or any hint of life, not so much as even a breath stirring in her body... like a doll.

"You've been quite naughty, Joshua. Letting strays in the back door again."

"Psh," was his reply. "You're hiding something. It's not like you to cover things up like this, even for a guy like that. What's that guy to you, huh?"

Joshua bit another hunk off of the sandwich; chewing loudly with disdain.

The child narrowed her eyes, staring back with disgust at him and his complete disrespect. It did not even take so much as a blink, and the sandwich in Joshua's hand became little more than a lump of rotting bread and filling; barely holding itself together and having the consistency of a wet sponge.

"More than you'll ever be."

User Image

Joshua chewed in protest. Once. Twice. Three times... by the fourth he winced and finally turned and spat a festering pile of mulch onto the floor; the oozing remnants of the sandwich slipping out of his fingers to splat down alongside it a moment later.

"Walter!" he shouted loudly, "My sandwich melted! gonk "
PostPosted: Fri Dec 01, 2006 12:39 pm

::As creepy as always and quick as the wind Walter was at the door, his arrival signified by the clicking of his loafers against the wood. He was holding a brand new sandwich, it used basically the same fixings, and a drink to match, all in a formal silver platter.::

Melted...Sir Joshua? I dont think I've ever seen a sandwich mel--

::His eyes caught sight of the little girl, in her lovely dress, it brought a smile to his aged cheeks.::

Oh! Excuse my rudeness, I wasnt aware we had another guest.

::He took a formal bow.::

Is there anything I can get for the young madam?

::And then presumably while accepting her order, he slid away the old rotty sandwich and slid in the silver platter. Eyeing the sandwich curiously entirely puzzled as to how exactly a few sandwich entropizes so very quickly.::
