Dragon paused when Lurtz brought up his eyes. His smile thinned and he turned his head to glower at the floor. "You can have them if you want." he murmured the same time his eyes turned black. "I hate them. I hate not knowing what they are, or why I have them, or how to control them. I hate when people stare at them. I don't even know what my real eyes are like because of this stupid curse."

Blues, greens, reds, golds and browns are common eye colors. Since you have such unique eyes, you shouldn't know the envy man has for it. In all truth, however, you do know such envy by being so lonely as you have while others were all friendly with each other. With every positive trait you own, a negative trait counterbalances it. This is why perfection is unachievable. In short, for all that I lack, you make up for and all you lack, I make up for. We are like two sides of the same coin; similar yet so very different," the fair haired male responded in a gentle yet firm tone. Pushing up on the boy's chin so he'd look up at him again, Lurtz flashed him a gentle smile before tapping near his left eye. Shortly after doing so, the eye turned as black as Dragon's eyes were before the soldier took up a position of parade rest, the backs of his hands against the small of his back. "I will be your mirror then if you wish to know the colors of your eyes albeit your eye color isn't exactly something you should worry about. Mimicry takes little energy so it won't bother me any doing it for you. As a certain man would say in a situation like this, in order to learn about one's gifts and curses, one must learn about themselves. In order for you to keep control over your eye color, you must control your emotions. As you experience things that make you feel things, your eyes will change to a color that represents such feelings you pick up on. It is up to you and those who see the changing of colors to understand all of these feelings through your eyes making it a gift within a curse. Black isn't just a color of complete and utter hatred. It's a color of emptiness, of loneliness and sadness. It is a hollow color that accepts all else yet remains unchanged; a conflicted color of happiness and sadness. What exactly would you say you feel towards your eyes besides loathing it's constant changes?"

Dragon reluctantly looked at Lurtz, and he showed some surprise when the other male's eyes mimicked his own, but it didn't last long. His upset demeanor returned like a curtain falling over the stage, and his metallic eyes darted elsewhere. "I just hate them." he mumbled, having to rub his arm to keep him semi-comfortable. "I don't know what they are except for something else that labels me a freak." He shut his eyes tight and grit his teeth. "I hate being a freak, and I hate not knowing anything about myself. Why did I turn this age? Why do I have these weird eyes? Why do I have these weird things on my body?" He pulled back his sleeve to show the tribal design tattoo on his right forearm. Dragon's expression turned to a defeated sadness, one that he had held back for quite some time, and the proof was in the tears he fought hard to keep at bay. "Why did this all happen to me? Even if I stayed a kid my parents wouldn't look after me." A wince shot across his face when he remembered his dad attacking him, a move that cost his best friend her life. Eyes turning clear blue, Dragon looked at Lurtz. "What do you do when the whole world's against you, Lurtz?" he asked in a cracked voice.

Sσ ι кєєρ вєηδing 'тιℓℓ ι вяєαк.xx Really? The changing of eye colors made him feel like a freak? This kid wouldn't last very long around his dad without Lurtz in the same room as him. God, that man would make him cry over any flaw he had even if it were just a freckle! You'd want to kill yourself once he got done picking you apart. The most Lurtz could do was protect and attempt to comfort him, but that wasn't necessarily working over such a simple topic as it was...
Hearing Dragon's questions, he came up with a simple answer though he doubted the boy would accept that without asking another why question. At the final question, his left eye having returned to it's icy blue that oddly matched his own icy blue eyes, Lurtz's expression became as cold and hollow as it'd become at the wedding. "I'd ignore the rest of the world to the best of my ability unless it is absolutely necessary to become involved. Should the situation grow violent, I'd fight without the slightest hesitation. If they kept coming at me, I'd kill them without so much as batting an eyelash... My way isn't necessarily the best choice, Lord Dragon, much less an easy one. You wouldn't want to be me... If you hadn't been there at the wedding... If you hadn't been there, those gentlemen would have suffered a worse fate than what I gave them," the fair haired male answered rather honestly. Sighing softly, he gently patted the boy on top of the head before gently taking his hands into his own. "And not the entire world is against you, milord. I cannot hate you for there is no part of you that I do not enjoy other than seeing you so unhappy. I'd prefer seeing you smile as you shouldn't have anything to be upset about. You are what I wish I could be, but it's far too late for me... Remain as you are, Lord Dragon, for it is who you are. Anything else is a lie and even if the world wants you to be different, it's only because they want you to be weak. The world fears that which they do not understand. That is all so please don't cry... You're not a freak. You're simply unique and the world needs to understand that... As for me, my job is to protect and right now, you're what I must protect."

Dragon hesitated before ducking his head and wiping his eyes with his sleeve. "Yeah..." was all he replied with. Not a freak. He'd heard that plenty of times, and all with pity laced in their tone. Everyone said he was fine, but their eyes were transfixed on his peculiarities. He was a unique, color-changing lighthouse to everyone. Not a freak.
But crying wouldn't fix that. Crying like a baby and complaining about his life wasn't the way to do this. He was seventeen now, he was a grown-up. Like it or not, he couldn't mull over the sadness; he had to push this burden all away and focus on... What?
Dragon pursed his lips as a new question bloomed into his mind: What did he have to live for? He was done complaining about the past, but what about the future? He never grew up being told what to strive for or what to prepare for, he was continuing life blind. "Lurtz," he started slowly, eyes changing to a flaming red. "Your life revolves what you're ordered to do, right? Like to protect me? Then... what does my life revolve around?" He gained a sad look. "I don't know what to do..."

At his first two questions, he nodded slightly as that was what he'd had his life revolving around. At being asked what Dragon's life should revolve around, he let out a soft sigh before doing what he did best; speak in a very unhelpful way. "I cannot really answer that question. That is your choice to make. You're going to have to figure out what you want for the future, what your dreams and aspirations are by learning what all you have to choose from. For now, however, I would say that your goal in life is to figure out what you wish to be and knowing that as you live on, you're keeping your closest friend's memory alive... It's difficult to explain, but I believe we were all born into this world for a reason and once we learn what we needed to learn, we will die before being sent back to be born as another person with a new lesson to be learned or if we've already learned all our lessons through these lives, we'll meet our maker once again. That probably doesn't help, does it?" he rumbled evenly although the way he had returned his gaze to the floor, he knew he wasn't really helpful when he should've been able to be helpful. Words weren't his strongest suit after all. "You get to choose what you live for though, an option not everyone gets to have. There are many paths to take in life, you just have to find them. That's about the best answer I can give you..."

Hearing the avoided response, Dragon frowned slightly and glanced away. "Oh." he murmured, eyes turning grass green. It wasn't an answer he wanted to hear. In fact, he wasn't even sure that was an answer.
Something he wanted for the future, huh? He just wanted to not be alone, but every time he tried the person who befriended him would leave. Some part deep down was waiting for Lurtz to disappear like all the others. Speaking of which, Lurtz made it sound like he was free to make any choice he wanted. For him, that was too much freedom. He wanted someone to help him through all this confusion, not praise him for his features. Armageddon helped a lot, but tried to avoid him. Lurtz tried, but he's explanations usually left the boy with more questions than answers.
"What do people usually live for?" Dragon finally asked and looked up at the blue-haired male, eyes now a frost blue.

"I'm sorry for not being of much help when you need it... I can only speculate and give you my personal hypotheses on what they live for in this world... Is there anything else you wish for besides never being lonely? For example, do you want to be able to protect those you get close to from those who wish to cause them harm?" he murmured softly, his shoulders slumping forwards slightly as he understood quite well that all he was really doing was confusing the boy. It was disappointing knowing he wasn't being very helpful, but he couldn't exactly explain the meaning of life to him in mere words. It was just near impossible to do and what attempt he'd tried giving only confused the boy. With such confusion, he didn't doubt Dragon would eventually grow tired of being unable to understand the vampire and leave. If he wasn't scaring people away, he was confusing them to the point that they'd just leave of their own volition so as to get rid of that giant wave of confusion. "Do you wish to love someone, Lord Dragon, and be loved in return?"

At the first set of questions Dragon shook his head. "There's no one to protect." he replied somberly. "The only people that let me be around are you and Armageddon, and I'd only get in the way if I tried to help. ... You know, I think I'll just get used to being alone." he murmured while running his fingers through his dark brown hair. He had complained and cried about being lonely for so long, but it never changed. He guessed he hoped someone would come and make all the sadness weighing him down go away, to swipe away every ounce of confusion in his mind. Lurtz promised to stay by his side, but lately he'd been treating him like the kid he was.
When asked the last question, Dragon's metallic eyes flickered up at Lurtz. A blush spread across his face, and though he opened his mouth to say something, nothing came out. He closed his mouth and glanced away timidly, bringing a hand to his arm and rubbing it nervously. "Yeah, but... That's okay." he mumbled. "I think I'll just try to learn how to be this age, maybe actually be an adult." Eyes turning golden, he looked to the window, where he could see a part of the school. "Do you think that school would help?"

In order to be the age you appear, however, you must come to understand certain things that will come with time and years of lessons. I don't want to do that so I was going to see about talking with some of the others at the school for less traumatizing methods of explaining things to you. My specialties lie in war, assassination attempts and swordplay, not explaining sexual intercourse. Sure, I have hobbies like my sketches, but it's just that; a hobby. I know I'm just confusing and upsetting you more than I should be, but that's my flaw... I am but a marionette for my father, my family, a puppet awaiting it's instructions. I wasn't supposed to have a free will of my own," Lurtz responded in that low, hollow tone as any trace of emotion seemed to vanish from his face in the blink of an eye. Never shifting his gaze up from the floor, the light blue haired vampire nodded slightly before taking up a position where his feet were shoulder-width apart and his hands set at the small of his back as his military training seemed to be kicking back in. "The school is more than likely your best option of getting answers you seek, milord... I apologize from the very depths of my being for failing you, sir. I shall not let this happen again in my duty of protecting you as I've sworn to do."

At being apologized to shortly afterwards, he simply shook his head slightly as if saying he had nothing to apologize for although the boy probably didn't see it. When he began to leave after having promised to become an adult that was useful after going to the school, the vampire waited for him to get several paces ahead of him before beginning to follow after him. He was a guardian after all so he was supposed to keep his word of protecting the dark haired Wendigo while also keeping his word of being there for him. Not everyone is a marionette though, Dragon, and some lessons can only be learned over time... He shouldn't be a marionette like me. It's not living with a purpose, but a mere existence within this world... Would you understand that though? Would you still wish to be as I am even if you understood the difference between being a puppet that just exists and a person that has a reason to exist? Lurtz sighed in the back of his head, his pace slowing a little.
"What I do isn't living, Lord Dragon. I merely exist and it's basically what you've already experienced. Life is full of hardships, but making decisions and overcoming obstacles is part of living. You said you didn't want to be alone, but by becoming a marionette, that is exactly what you're going to be. There's a difference between living and existing, being a person and being a marionette... Do you understand that and the hypocrisy you've just put into words?" he finally said aloud as Dragon reached the front door. He wanted answers, yes, and he wanted to be an adult so perhaps saving his feelings wasn't the best way to go. He just had to shut down that protective nature he figured would be the best option considering his age. He may look like he was seventeen, but he hadn't been in this world long.

Dragon stopped when he heard Lurtz. He set his hand on the door frame and barely turned his head to acknowledge that he heard him. A silence befell them for a moment until the young man opened his mouth to say, "I don't care." He turned his head to face out again. "Whether I'm used by someone or just their lapdog, that's okay. At least someone would see some kind of use in me."

I prefer you being your own person and disapprove of your wanting to be some worthless thing people will use until it gets broken and replaced by something better... You get a choice in being whatever you want and I want you to do just that. I want you to find things that interest you and learn things at your own pace, not because of some fxckin' curse or some jackass father trying to take away anything that makes you happy. You deserve better than what I got... You deserve the chance to finish up your childhood even if you look like you're seventeen, Lurtz retorted in a slightly darker voice, his icy blue eyes growing a deeper blue around the pupils. "If you think becoming someone's play thing is going to make you feel better, feel free to turn into a real monster by heading down this rash decision of a path you've created. I'll protect you and stay by you as long as I can, but once you cross that line, there's no turning back and we can't be together anymore... I'll take you to the school, but I can't make your decision for you. There are some lessons in life you can only learn from by making mistakes after all."
Grabbing up the small set of keys to the apartment from the small table by the door alongside his boots, he gently pushed Dragon out the door and closed and locked the door behind him. He then started down the stairs to the sidewalk just outside of the building while slipping the keys into his pocket and shoving his feet into his boots. Lurtz shut off his emotions on the outside even though he could feel a sharp pain run through his chest, but he wasn't going to sugarcoat Dragon's idea of becoming like him. Even if Dragon succeeded in becoming like him, there was no guarantees they'd remain together seeing as Lurtz's occupation was set in stone. The Wendigo could be hired by anyone depending upon his strengths and the royals of the vampire kingdom he came from never really hired another species for the Royal Guard.

"That's just it, Lurtz, I don't have my own personality or, well, anything! I'm just a- I can't even say guy, because I'm not one! I'm some mistake that has no reason to live or any useful skil-" Dragon stopped replying and suddenly put a hand against the wall. He hesitated for a moment and tried to steady himself. What... was that? He felt like his entire body pulsed for a second. Dragon stayed still for a moment then closed his eyes and shook his head. It was nothing more than another thing he didn't understand.
Eyes turning frost blue, he watched Lurtz walk out, though he kept a distance. He didn't want to be touched by him and he was sure the other was thinking the exact thing. He didn't even bother responding to anything else said, he wasn't in the mood to get shot down by the only 'friend' he had. So he followed with a child's tantrum in his color-changing eyes and his frown.
