He shakes his head when Sinclair questions him. He didn't want to frighten him. Instead he stood up and took the boy into an embrace before shakily standing up and begins to try and walk again. This is his own fight..

It wound on for what seemed like forever, a silent patient purgatory. Rep wasn't used to being able to hold Tracey this way. To his addled and dazed mine, he was somewhere else, in the arms of another slender person. Tracey smelled like expensive shampoo and soap, vanilla. Their heartbeats matched.
He tried to speak but no words came out.

Struck deaf in this strange tower, Sinclair focused on his other senses; he could still see, feel, and smell. Zephyros felt warm, solid, and despite all he knew of their existence, he felt as real as he did when they had kissed. He smelled like... fresh air. Freedom, that they would never truly have. He breathed in and savored the moment. Leave it to that damned Voice to ruin it. He opened his mouth in a silent gasp, but it quickly fell into a grimace as he listened to its words. Clutching tighter at Zephyros, he glared up at the spiraling staircases above them. "You no longer control me." He mouthed, slow, but strong and loud in his own head. To Zephyros, he frowned, and pointed at the ceiling, brows furrowed questioningly. "Did you hear that?"

Each step brought home the summoning that was going on. She had to get closer. She--

It was no different than the hospital really. Back to waiting and hoping, climbing and climbing, spooling out the stairs behind him the way he'd spooled out the days.
He hummed, but the silence ate it up, like a vague dream.

The first step is supposedly the hardest, but for Lan, the first step had been taken the moment she'd accepted the task of coming in to this place to save her friend. The sound of her steps didn't echo as she walked, nore did her jewelry jingle against each other. A void of sound, Lan mused, was appropriate for this place. Silence wasn't uncommon, meditation gave that often enough.
This was nothing.

She stopped as she heard the voice, listening to it for a moment before nodding and mouthing, "I am sorry, but I must," and going on. She felt guilty, yes, but she wasn't going to let that stop her.
She had a job to do.

She needed to get up these stairs quickly. The tower kept shaking, who knew how long it would last. Where were Ryan, Ami and Kat? She'd seen them. Where were they. Tired, dirty, and clearly stressed. Atropos looks like this minus the tail, horns and stripes. She's also dirty and battered, her clothes torn from fighting.

A deep breath, the lack of sound as only eerie when she thought of it, otherwise it wasn't so bad. It was almost like sitting back in a pavilion, told to wait until she would be called. Here, there were at least things to do, to see. Movement kept the mind from sound. It was only when she expected it and it did not come that she questioned.

Hair tossed behind her, the steps were long, and the rush of others was aggravating. Rushing into battle, rushing into something they didn't know. She wasn't much better true, but she would not dash blindly towards the top.

The void of sound was slowly becoming annoying in the sense she couldn't hear anyone else around her. Sound was how she had memorized patterns in movements so long ago. The barest echo of stone on wood with the other pieces giving a slow melody that she had used. Now, in the void, she had nothing to find the patterns with.

Terra forced her mind to the other her--the one she had been based on. She had strange makeup, she wondered why. Was it cultural? It had been pretty, in a morbid sort of way, she decided as she climbed.
